I am 37 and you look at me and would not even know I am also on disability... but I have fibromyalgia, seizures, lower back herniations, chronic migraines etc etc.... I have about 1 good day out of the month. Who actually wants to go from making $45k a year to less than half of that... if you remain bedridden (unfortunately some have to) your conditions will only get worse. You are blessed to be healthy and active in the workforce... I would change places with you in a second if it was possible

I agree with "Truemirror". I am a 40 year old male on Disability from a back injury while on the job as a Professional Landscaper, (Work most could NEVER handle). I lost my job after 12 years and miss it terribly because of my Goda** back. I have been on Disability for 3 years now and could never do that work again, however, there are days I could do something, but only that day unlike everyday when I was working. I have tried to do things, only to injur myself further, like tear my rotor cuff.
I know someone who does similar things, they are not mentally ill though they claim they have back problems and that's why they collect disability. I think its fraud.

My physciatrist, case worker and counselors who teach PSR (physcosocial rehabilitation) classes that i take, ENCOURAGE too me too get out and be active. I have also been on medications for 6 years, and have made VERY GOOD improvements with some of my illness' but still struggle with others. Like i said, i have PHYSCOSIS, in which i think Other people are controlling my mind/thoughts, telling how too think, being around people is very difficult but again, its EXPOSURE THERAPY with using CBT.....
I myself have a handful of differant mental illness/disorders, and try and get out everyday, its called EXPOSURE THERAPY with the use of CBT. I have PHYSCOSIS......being out and around people is very difficult but at the same time its EXPOSURE THERAPY. Especially leaving my house, is exposure therapy from having panic disorder/agoraphobia. I also exercise/workout 4 or 5 days a week, which is extremely good especially with having Severe depression.

My brother can fix electronics and edit video, but he wears Tigger and Pooh shirts, he wont wear 'normal' clothes when he isn't working, if u make him, he gets bad attitude and starts breaking things. He has to have his food a certain way or he wont eat, he has to wear dark glasses or he wont go outside on suunny days and if u make him, he will scream and throw shit. If you yell at him, he will scream at you and claw at you. Now. Why does muy brother get disability?

I see this alot here and alot of people that say on their Facbook pages all the stuff they can do and drive a car and can do crafts and stuff yet they still can get a big check. I know someone who is doing just this and she CAN do over 16 things according to her Facebook page and drive yet she says she is do disabled. I cant drive and have three or four mental things and have severe arthritis and cant walk and cant get SS at all.
@PamelaRP You only get ssdisability if you worked and paid into it enough years, if you have met that requirement & can not work a 40hour week than you need to keep applying for it. my neighbor puts on a neckbrace and ankle braces and hobbles down 2 flights of stairs and hops in her brand new Prius (she got for free) and goes to her monthly doctor's appointment and after she gets back rips them off and digs holes for her garden...

They need to have a hidden camera for the thousands and thousands of people especially here in Oregon who are frauding the system. I cannot even walk at all and have arthritis real real bad and use a walker but yet was denied in September and my appeal was denied as well and I cannot get it at all. I also have mood and anxiety and depression real bad and because of this kind of fraud and abuse in the system I CANNOT GET SS. Until someone does something about this, fraud and abuse will go on.
There are many disabled that can work one day, but be down for many days after and you won't see them for a few days to a few weeks, sometimes for a few months because they are bedridden, a person is disabled when they can't hold a regular job, many disabled do get out on good days and try to do normal things as well as try to get better by doing normal things, the real test is if they can get up everyday and work 40 + hours a week for a year, that is why SS is ignoring your reports.
@truemirror EXACTLY!!! This is my situation. Amazingly well put but don't tell the judges that! They don't even have to work for 40 + hours (which, with driving, showering, shaving, travel to and from work and meal preparation actually come out to a good 60 + hours) just any kind of "gainful" employment, which is what I am no longer capable of.
@8MCDonalds8 agree, many people on disability will get out and try hard to take care of their families, but if they don't last past a few months of work before they are down again, than they are screwed, because it can take up to 10 years to get back on, which by that time they are homeless or dead, the way the system is set up, there is no getting back on your feet if you have a permanent disability, the majority of saine ppl don't want to live below poverty & want to work.

@kramnrublaw I work for SSA and deal with these SSI people daily, most of them just play the system and find disability's for their 5 children and when you have 6 checks of $674 each monthly that's $4044 monthly and they all have medicaid and food stamps. So i'm going to have to disagree with you, most of the these people are truely lazy and have absolutely zero pride in themselves and usual still complain even when everything they get is free. I mean, Christ, can't they just be grateful.

He must be related to a couple of guys in my neighborhood. One is working under the table at 2 jobs and the other claims he cannot use his arm and leg yet he carrys furniture, shovels, plows, uses an atv with no apparent issue with either the hand or leg. Not to mention the snowmobile too. Social Security is allowing those that don't need it to get it and giving those that truly need it a hard time.

3. This is what they do, I worked w/a guy in construction, he owns 500ac in Mexico gets ss disability here and works 4 cash where I work.
4. I get a check.
They get on ssi or ss disability then retire back home taking all that money out of the country.

@littlesongbird1 - Ya, alot people think that they can get SSI BENEFITS for simply having anxiety/depression. LOL. Doesnt work like that. The thing is, what is causing that anxiety/depression??? If its anxiety/depression from " everyday life and life experiences" then sorry to say, but you wont get benefits. WE ALLL have a little anxiety/depression from everyday life and life-experiences. I have severe anxiety/depression BUT my anxiety/depression is CAUSED from having other mental illness'.

It seems like when it comes to having mental disorders, the only way you can receive Disability is if you have AGOROPHOBIA/Sczitzo-effective disorder. Ive talked to people in other states who say thier on SSI for simply having anxiety/panic disorder!! woow! I have 5 differant mental disorders and i was denied!! thats bullshit right there!!!

i can see why he would be watched. Why is that with some mental disorders, people get SSI then at the same time, are being allowed to work part time?? and still be receiving SSI BUT with other mental disorders you receive SSI BUT your not allowed to work??? In my opinion the Social security Disability Admin. are nothing but conartists themselves. They denie people who TRULY TRULY/GENUINELY NEED/DESERVE DESERVE BENEFITS then somehow believe the " conartist" that he or she is disabled and approve

All i have to say is this, The SSA basically have people that watch people who receive SSI too see if they are truly disabled, or watch people who are in the process of trying to get SSI,like this video. BUT, this video doesnt truly prove anything. It depends on what kind of disability he claimed to have. my neighbor puts on a neckbrace and ankle braces and hobbles down 2 flights of stairs and hops in her brand new Prius (she got for free) and goes to her monthly doctor's appointment and after she gets back rips them off and digs holes for her garden...
she has a back up scam though, she sliced her wrists up for years to get that check for "bipolar" so they all probably do the same for backup.
I hear voices every day and am severely bipolar and I see no reason why bipolar people can't work...

They need to have a hidden camera for the thousands and thousands of people especially here in Oregon who are frauding the system. I cannot even walk at all and have arthritis real real bad and use a walker but yet was denied in September and my appeal was denied as well and I cannot get it at all. I also have mood and anxiety and depression real bad and because of this kind of fraud and abuse in the system I CANNOT GET SS. Until someone does something about this, fraud and abuse will go on.

There are many disabled that can work one day, but be down for many days after and you won't see them for a few days to a few weeks, sometimes for a few months because they are bedridden, a person is disabled when they can't hold a regular job, many disabled do get out on good days and try to do normal things as well as try to get better by doing normal things, the real test is if they can get up everyday and work 40 + hours a week for a year, that is why SS is ignoring your reports.

@truemirror EXACTLY!!! This is my situation. Amazingly well put but don't tell the judges that! They don't even have to work for 40 + hours (which, with driving, showering, shaving, travel to and from work and meal preparation actually come out to a good 60 + hours) just any kind of "gainful" employment, which is what I am no longer capable of.

@8MCDonalds8 agree, many people on disability will get out and try hard to take care of their families, but if they don't last past a few months of work before they are down again, than they are screwed, because it can take up to 10 years to get back on, which by that time they are homeless or dead, the way the system is set up, there is no getting back on your feet if you have a permanent disability, the majority of saine ppl don't want to live below poverty & want to work.

@kramnrublaw I work for SSA and deal with these SSI people daily, most of them just play the system and find disability's for their 5 children and when you have 6 checks of $674 each monthly that's $4044 monthly and they all have medicaid and food stamps. So i'm going to have to disagree with you, most of the these people are truely lazy and have absolutely zero pride in themselves and usual still complain even when everything they get is free. I mean, Christ, can't they just be grateful.

I dont think you have to be in a wheel chair to collect disability. Im sure more than 50% of people on disability today can pick up a rope and roll off a light hay bail.

But many people are capable of making a bowl of cereal and that does not mean they don't have physically disabling ailments to the point f not being able to have gainful employment. I wouldn't even consider moving that hay.

I know people that got SSI for ADHD as kids and still have it and they smoke crack and sell drugs all day under the table and shit. Reporting them is pointless, the psychiatrists get more money from medicaid so they play along... I mean come on ADHD???? I have psychotic bipolar disorder and ADHD and I needed disability for a few months because I was so bad that I seemed schizophrenic (voices, couldn't do shit) but I got better and got off my ass and went to work again, go to school and work.

Do a search for FatboyDan here. He claims a mental disabillity, yet he can do anything anyone else can (and more than some). He drives, hunts (which means he posses weapons) and fishes. He has no problems speaking. He is an OBVIOUS scammer who needs to be sued for fraud! Go see for yourselves, and if someone knows how, report him. He must be related to a couple of guys in my neighborhood. One is working under the table at 2 jobs and the other claims he cannot use his arm and leg yet he carrys furniture, shovels, plows, uses an atv with no apparent issue with either the hand or leg. Not to mention the snowmobile too. Social Security is allowing those that don't need it to get it and giving those that truly need it a hard time.
