  • thak you

  • How can I get this tone? What amp settings?

  • tone is not like slash

  • Hey, how do you set the tone on the guitar for this. Im talkin about the knobs for the neck and brige pickups.

  • Toca increible pero no suena para nada a Slash..

  • Toca increible pero no suena para nada a Slash..

  • why noone here plays with ibanez lol?

  • too many fucking shred ;p

  • I think the tone knob thing is originally clapton

  • It would be so awesome if you made a video about the style of Tom Morello!

  • this lesson is fucking gold.

  • Great licks.but far away from slash playing.

  • Great licks but slash so

  • Fuckin sick!

  • Ouu the high E is way flat.

  • Clean or o.d.? :-P

  • what about the amp settings plz?

  • Is this backing track downloadable?

  • Perfect lesson. Not to much talking and not to much playing. Good advises and good licks. Just perfect

  • something i never understood could soemone pelase make it clear, when he plays over the chord progression can he just randomly play the e minor / blues scale or does he have to start on the same note the chord is progressign too .

  • My guitars teacher said slash Isnt a good guitariat now that I look back I should have smacked the living shit out of himmler

  • can u do a lesson on slash riffing?

  • Is it possible to shred on a Gibson Les Paul?

  • way to fast

  • Sounds more like an avenged sevenfold riff. The interesting part about slash is what he pulls from bb king.

You guys really need to start using tube amps. I think you guys have some solid videos, but all the electrics sound the same. If tour target audience is 12-15 year olds it's fine, but as players ears advance they're going to seek out tone, line 6 spiders have none of that. A fender pro jr or blues jr with a good overdrive pedal would improve your sound and probably open you guys up

  • Pause 00:49

  • i'd say more dj ashba style, not slash ;D

  • this guy's good, I like his clips

  • is there a place if i can download this backingtrack?

  • @guitardude495 - hi, this backing track is part of our rock jam tracks plus series - you get 10 killer studio produced audio tracks and coincing PDF Ebook - check it out by clicking the link on our shop cart page to watch a video preview - go to next level guitar dotcom /shop

    rock on!

  • @rockongoodpeople thank you!

  • So is that a Les Paul Custom, or a standard?

  • @HectorAndresMayoral Op wait, never mind, just saw the comment. Thank you sir!

  • I think some people are too concerned with trying to be EXACTLY like Slash. The key, in my opinion, is to take this lesson and use it as a component in developing your own style. I've heard a lot of cover bands in my day, and no one is exactly like the original. The simple fact is that you can't BE someone else. David has some good pointers, now take that and go develop your own unique sound.

  • @rbilleaud well put

  • could you go into more detail, if their is, about your effects? like reverb, delay, comp etc.? man you make that thing sing. i'm more of a bass player, so yeah, i'm out of my league in here.

  • David, thanks for the lesson & download! One of my shortcomings just happens to be patience...go figure, it came just a few minutes after you're post! Kudos & continue what you're doing, 'cause it ROCKS!

  • u really got slash tone, really god lesson, maybe the best lesson about slash style.

    \m/

  • I clicked the link, but did not receive an email confirmation in my in box???

  • @bulltastik - Hi sometimes it takes a few hours for the system to update - once you enter your address you will get a confirm email in less than a day - let us know if you dont get it by tomorrow. ROck on!

    -David T

  • @rockongoodpeople hi dave

  • i have Epiphone Les Paul Custom.. but mine doesnt sound like taht... (With tone off)

  • @4Hislove4Hiskingdom mine does! what gear and pedal are you using?

  • His guitar magically changes from a Les Paul, to a white strat and then back again! :O

  • I really dislike the tone and the shred style he's using. Does anyone hear any Slash in that crap? I hear many ueseless notes, no feeling and awful vibrato... This doesn't make me want to learn anything.

  • @the13thbluenote You are tone deaf.....Dave rocks!!!

  • Great video! your right about warmer tone by cutting the tone off....I preffer no tone knobs on my guitars...just a volume knob and control gain by turning it up...

  • @bullshitproof it's impossible to be out of tune itself. That guitar is out of standard tune.

  • that guitar is out of tune

  • Can you make a video like this on John Frusciante?

  • you are a very good teacher!!!

what about a lesson in the style of doug aldrich!!??

    keep up the good work!!!

  • @Musicman1413 doug aldrich mainly uses pentatonics and blues scales and like to change it up a bit with other notes .

  • is it a studio LP?

  • @Max45090 Les Paul Standard.

  • Wow nice !!!

  • i highly recommend the LINK BELOW, cause the E-Book you get there actually really IS fn amazing...helped me a lot. not to mention the great dvd´s they got to offer...get 'em! ;)

  • Slash ....not. Slipknot.....yes

  • that's not slash, that's fucking DAVE!! awesome tone man, keep up the gud work

  • not great licks!!!!

  • what an ugly guitar!

  • @LP4ever94 .............what?

  • @LP4ever94 You don't like Les Pauls? :S

  • @Nickpatient Immaculate means flawless, he likes it.

  • @qwertyuiop46853 Did you read the comment I was replying to or are you getting confused? :)

  • @Nickpatient Messed up...heh.

  • @Nickpatient :) I LOVE les pauls. I just didn't like this one. But i didn't mean to hurt you mate. Sorry.

  • @LP4ever94 Didn't hurt me in the slightest, just found it odd. I know what you mean about this one. I quite like it but it's really weird. I bet it'd look good on stage though. I think it's one of those that on it's own looks like a turd but with stage lights it'd like cool and unique. Cloud-looking inlays on a Paul is pretty unique. :)

  • What kind of les paul is that, it's immaculate.

  • @TheSuperMerc - the guitar used in this lesson is a mid 1990s USA made Les Paul standard limited edition model. Awesome guitar - rock on!

    Thnaks for watching

    -David T

  • Slash wasnt that great to me,but now you are.

  • Wow that's amazing

  • I thought he said his name was dave NASTY

  • Just in case u dont know, slash hardly uses his pinky, I believe u did, and honestly that did not sound like slash

  • :)

I'm so happy to get some straight forward stuff to help with my pub rock gig. As a jazz player, I've had an awful time before this getting my head around rock playing. Things are sure looking up!!!!

  • do some john frusciante styles please..hooppie

  • hey its okay. i dont have one either =)

  • i think you should be the new slash

  • How far back do i roll my tone knob?

  • @TheMetalhead804 About halfway :-)

  • @TheMetalhead804 If you roll it off fully and use an overdrive pedal it should be pretty good.

  • You cannot get Slash tone by rolling tone to 0 in every Les Paul. Slash's goldtop that he used to play with tone knob off had a feature not to lose sharpness completely if tone pot is rolled to 0.

  • NICE AXE

  • lovin' that burst.

  • @FrozenSparky

No, you saw a Charvel So Cal

  • who else got excited when they saw the title?

  • This guy is aight! I dig him. Get him back on again plz, people at NLG! I will be joining the site pay day when ever that is. Thx dude!

  • You had to make us jealous saying you were on a gibson les paul =[

  • i wish i could play as good as you dammit

  • Am I the only one that is starting to get annoyed with his excessive use of vibrato at the end of every group of notes he plays?

  • @kenny222 yes

  • oh my god did i saw a jacksoon adrian smith?

  • guitar transformation for the win..

  • Hate to tell you this man but slash doesn't bend a note up so that he has time to know what he wants to do... he bends notes because thats what he feels.

  • @Metallica512021 There's elements of both opinions there. It adds feeling but it also gives time to make a choice where to go next.

  • I really like the sound of using the C# on the b string.. it's not in the g major scale but I like it

  • @carsguitars009 its in the g lydian scale thats why or the b dorian scale

  • @carsguitars009 its the blues note :D

  • I'M AFRAID TO CLICK IN THE LINK THAT I SEE BELOW

  • @marcussilvamgs - hi - nothing to be afraid of as that link in the text box allows you to get a free video lessons and free Ebook that I wrote that has over 21 scales diagrammed out as well as chord charts, fretboard diagrams, and other written lessons. Its a great video and book that go well together and we will email them to you for free. And we wont sell your email address or anything like that, so no worries at all - hope that will help clear things up. Take care and rock on!

    -David T

  • @rockongoodpeople Dave should do some punk lessons.

  • @ppmoscadebar powerchords and downstrokes. lesson done. :D

  • @iRockDeath Yeah right, you should see this guy playing with No Use For A Name and then back and tell me.

  • Didn't really sound like Slash, that was just a Les Paul and minor pentatonic :-L

  • @simbrack1195 thats what alot of slash's style is. he just blends the minor pentatonic with the relative major with a g root

  • @simbrack1195 and.... what did u think was so complicated about slashes style? (not being confrontational, just asking :P)

  • @TrippyTro

I didn't aha but even if it is a relatively simple style really it doesn't really sound like Slash. I mean everyone sounds different right?

  • Less of this guy, please

  • David's Les Paul is just so killer.
