A Blue Heeler called Maxine- A Life in Pictures-1989 to 2007

I lost my beautiful Blue boy Zed just a couple of months ago to stomach cancer, he was 13 years old. I truly understand how devastating losing your best friend can be. Zed also saved my life a few years back, we were attacked by two enourmous pig hunting dogs, they tore into Zed leaving him pouring out with blood and then started on me. Although he'd lost a lot of blood he got up and fought them off to save me. He too was my hero, my best friend and has left a huge hole in my heart. RIP Maxine.

Maxine seemed to be a "Hero in a Dog".What a amazing and fantastic dog she must have been.And thats the longest time i have seen any dog live.Hope you have been doing well since her passing.R.I.P Maxine

I'm so sorry you lost your friend. I lost my red heeler this year to cancer. I'm trying to find another one because I am so used to have that constant presence by my side. I have owned alot of dogs in my life and I was given my first Blue in 1988 and I had the joy of learning to be loved by the best breed in the world. I have had the joy of raising my second Blue from a pup and Bonita is just as wonderful as Tazi and I will miss Bonita when her time comes and I will continue getting another one. I feel your loss becuase she is a big part of your family and one of your babys. May we all love our Blue Heelers to the end.

On April 1, 2009 my beloved Heeler, Cheyenne, passed away. We had a wonderful 13 year adventure together...this has been the longest week of my life. Thank you for posting & Maxine was a wonderful, wonderful dog.

Wonderful tribute for a wonderful girl. What kind of diet was she on. I know ACD are long lived but 18 yrs...wow!. I have two rescue ACDs. Pig is almost 9 and is the very beat of my heart. Belle was dumped scared and mangy at our house in April 08. She is 8 months old and a wild, wonder girl.

An amazing tribute to a wonderful, wonderful dog. My heart aches for your loss as her passing has undoubtedly left a void in your life. I wish for 100 years with my Heeler, Cheyenne (we have already had 12). Like Maxine, Cheyenne saved my life on two occassions while working stock...but no compairison to Maxine as I was not about to be eaten! Heelers are amazing, loyal, tough dogs who make us better people. Blessings to you for giving her a wonderful life...her happiness shines in her eyes.

Very moving video...I cried thinking of my own ACD that I lost just a few day's ago(Sunday Sept.14th,2008) ago to liver failure."Willow" was her name and only 8 yrs old.Your truly right about having them live to be 100 yrs.I wish they could.Sorry for your loss and like your maxine,My "willow" has saved my life as well, while I bedded down our bull barn.They are VERY loyal,loving dog's.I can not picture myself not having one.Bless You for giving her the best life !! :)

thank you for shareing your memories. your lucky to have had so many great years w/ maxine. i have been a dog owner all my life, im now 38, and i have only recently discovered blue heelers. i found my dog kinder moments from death in what is called the badlands of s.texas near the mexico border. never have i felt such a deep and spirtual conection to a pet, tho have loved previous animals nothing realy compares to a heeler. kinder in return for saving her life, saved mine from a rageing bull pek
