  • No Compare, all of these are greats, I prefer Oistrakh, in my opinion, but other country, other time, other people, other acoustic, and everyone was great by your own way, your own personality ;D

  • People, you can't compare the greatest with the greatest. Everything depends on personal taste. to me Szering was the best violinist of all times, but that's my opinion. Compare is tedious.

  • I like the slower tempo. I think he still keeps movement in the piece and he lets me linger that much longer over some very beautiful Bach

  • @spennyb89 : Yes. Good comment !

  • He plays it better cause its slower....

  • I'm also surprised! Szeryng plays it better than Milstein, Oistrakh and Stern!

  • Simply a pleasure to listen to.

  • its much slower than the other inteprations that i've listend to

however, it is much sweeter to listen to the Szeryng version of this peice then Heifets version.

  • Para Bach, en verdad nadie como Szeryng!!

  • Really nice tempo, its right in the sweet spot.

  • Szerng's pieces of Bach were better than lots of other contemporaries'. But for this prelude, I think milstein's was the best.

  • i love his recording.

like these too: menuhin, kremer, heifetz, and milstein.

  • best bach player of all times in my opinion! clearly perfect!

  • @TheIUTIUB

why "best bach"? you are not the only one in the world who thinks so. Many renowed people, authorities on the matter think the same. May I know your reasons please? thanks and keep enjoying violin life.

  • I don't think it's a question of Szeryng playing too slow or Milstein too fast -- they are simply illuminating different aspects of the piece: Szeryng the melodic line, and Milstein the cascading harmonies. I like a world that has both of them.

  • this is a perfect speed for this piece

  • where can i download this?

  • Solid, however speeds up at the section beginning at 0.39 through 0.58

  • so clear and precise. bravo!

  • he's the best violinist ever .

  • Rock-solid, and beautiful.

  • These are the most profound and accurate Bach recordings, IMHO. Technically as close to perfection as you can get, yet deep, emotional, and sublimely beautiful.

  • Heifetz was great at everything! But I truly like Nathan Milstein and Szeryng better then him....Everyone, including Heifetz, can't play everything amazing. Everyone has things that their better at then everyone else. Even the masters.

  • i absolutely love how szeryng seperated himself from the many players that demanded fast paced bach pieces, and chose to play at his own speed, this allowed his interpretation and articulation skills to be tremendously larger than many fellow violinists of his time

  • Es un violinista muy romántico, más que barroco, no quiere decir que sea mala su interpretación, sino que se sale un poco de contexto.

  • you will never hear bad or inappropriate performances from Szeryng. He is the most evenly violinist of all time. All your performances are very good and excelent!!! Anyway i prefer shlomo mintz., I love mintz style, but szeryng .. he´s amazing

  • This is about the speed at which I play it. an amazing piece. <3

  • better than Heifetz, than Kogan, even better Oistrakh. I dare say.

  • yes sure, but not better then N.Milstein!! watch and listen the same partita 3 by Milstein with incredible clairity and "tempo"

  • @danielingui Even better than Milstein, who played too fast, at least for this prelude.

  • @danielingui

i am my self a violinist, a teacher acctually. Hi danielingui. I apreciate your comment and would like to know some few aspects of WHY you think so. Thanks so much.

  • @testoremio Hi, I like more Zseryng by sobriety and careful measurement of their technique.

In a global aspect, he has it all in a more perfect way. For my taste Milstein is finger articulation, but lost in tone production, although playing with goldman Strad. Kogan is very good, but I do not like so much in aspect. Oistrakh is powerful, and is the king. Heifetz playing Bach appears brutal, and with poor taste. I like the human and artistic honesty Szeryng. But all is matter of taste.

  • @danielingui indeed. thanks so much for responding.success!

  • @danielingui

    Not better than Heifetz...

  • @Sesamestrt Yes, better than Heifetz. The problem with Heifetz's interpretation of the unaccompanied Bach is that its too technical instead of musical.

  • @Brink0War i agree

  • careful Milstein...

  • @danielingui kogan, yes, oistrakh yes, but not heifetz

  • @danielingui : You dare say too much !

  • I think the same!!It's the best tempo

  • I like this tempo! U can really hear the details.

  • in my opinion it's better than Heifetz

  • its already uploaded! well im not sure if it is conducted by Monteux, but check it out!!

  • My favorite violinist, captured at the height of his powers. How I wish someone would lovingly upload his Brahms Violin Concerto recording conducted by Pierre Monteux; that is one of the great recordings of that sublime work.

  • well only the first mov is uplodaded...
