This film is anarchy of the soul. It's fucking brutal and nihilistic. The most intense performance I've ever seen from an actress. Her character whimpers for Christ's mercy... and gets nothing back but an alien child which she self-aborts. God is truly dead. Incredible acting and also very painful to watch. A very sexual, violent movie. What you see is real insanity. The actress had a breakdown making this. See Hitchcock, Argento, and Kubrick for similiarities.
