  • I just read an article about the lead singer Les Mckeown he said he's been living a secret Gay life for over 30 years. Nothing against that, but he kept it from his wife & son & they found out when he did a TV interview. That had to be hard for them.

  • Ever notice that every TV appearance they've played this song at, it sounded exactly the same. Always lip synced and played to the studio recording. Shame they cheated everyone that way.

Oops , wait, I do remember seeing them play it live once and THAT was a good one.

  • Eye of dajjal at backround?

  • friday and saturday two days of the week in songs.

  • Our theme song lol

  • From what I can remember from those days loooonnnnnngggggg ago, Derek had been hospitalized with asthma at one point so I am assuming this is when they did this.

  • Oh my God. My childhood just came back. Whatever happenned to these guys?

  • @turbotime1964 they also grew old like us of course :) greetings...

  • @turbotime1964 It's on Wikipedia: Bay City Rollers Basically, they got screwed out of millions and are still fighting over it in court with Artista Records -

  • @turbotime1964 i think they got tired of faking their songs at every performance.

  • This is helluva lot better than Rebbeca Black's "Friday" I was 6 or 7 years old when this song came out.

  • it is better than saturty night fever.

  • S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. NIGHT!

  • This is my favorite Bay City Rollers song

  • what happened to Derek? He coloured his hair dark-brown and did like Les was on the drums for a change.... LOL...Just kidding!

And to the ones who are swearing or having just a bad day around here, tomorrow is another day!! LOL

Besides, aren't we all here to enjoy ourselves and have fun?

Ofcourse Les could learn a bit from Derek playing the drums, but looking at him

he's quite enjoying it himself and laughing about it.... Let's do the SAME !!

    Hugs to ALL Roller-Sisters worldwide!

  • HEAVY WEIGHTS! BEST MOVIE EVER

  • es igual a korol!!!!!

  • Derek ( the blonde drummer) has Asthma - maybe he had an asthma attack or was sick or something. Leslie doesn't drum.

  • What happened to the blond drummer. Al least he could almost 'lip-sync' the drums better! LOL!

  • it may help if a) they had the guitars plugged into something. and b) if he was actually playing the right thing on drums

  • brings back such great memories...great song!!!

  • Billy ganaráa!! xD

  • I saw this on I married a axe muderer the other day and I loved the part were Mike Myers parents danced to this song....lol....I wanna learn that dance and do it to this song...my family will piss themselves....groovy old song maaaaan ;D

  • BIG PANTS... BIG PANTS...BIG PANTS

What's with the BIG PANTS ???

Rather large trousers they are sporting there, no?

BIG PANTS... BIG PANTS... BIG PANTS

  • @DanOblacksmith Except for the length, the big pants look was in back in 1974. I should know, I had quite a few.

  • Where is Derek?

  • The first time I heard this song was in 1974.

I was fingering my guide leader round the back of the Guide hall and this was playing in the disco.

Every time I hear it, I think back to those fishy days of innocence.

    Good times.

  • @pishiest

MAN YOUR POST IS THE FARKIN FUNNIEST EVER!!!

  • @pishiest So you knew you was a lesbian when you were in the guides ? Wow ànd the Arkela let you play with her beaver...hahaha....you naughty girls xD

  • 完全、口パクなのがいいよね!

    当時はこれでよかったんだね!

  • Great music, great song, great band...

I love it and enjoy it every time I listen to it.

  • But today is a Thursday?

  • @ rodolphus - Derek's the drummer

  • they look all the same

  • Sorry to be a bit young and everything but what date was this x

  • Who's the guy at the drums?

  • this takes me back to highschool dances 30 yrs ago!

  • Alan Longmuir

    Derek Longmuir

    Eric Faulkner

    Stuart "Woody" Wood

    Les McKeown[2]

  • Remember this One ??

  • i was 16 yrs old then...my church had a "teen" dance every saturday night....we didn't dance, we went out in the woods and "made out" with our girlfriends!

  • drug the main drag for hundreds of hours to this song and others on 1520 KOMA Oklahoma City. the best radio station in north america during the 60's and 70's!

  • So funny to look at after all this years! :-) I was between 10 and 12 and completely mad about the boys from Scotland... *g*

  • This was my first album ever when I was 8 yrs old. Use to jump on my bed to it lol.

  • LOL what the heck is Leslie doing behind the drums?? Derek must have been too sick or something to do this TV shoot! (Derek was the actual drummer).

  • i remember banging a chick with this song on in the background, fond memories for me , oh, and the chick. lmfao

  • at least when i hear this i can see and appriciate the talent of marc bolan and t.rex he was yrs ahead of this lol

  • @itstoogoodtopassby at the time though bolan was written off as teenybopper trash. took till the early 90s to get the recognition he deserved.

  • better than "killin' cops" and calling your love a "bitch and hoe"

  • lip-sync!!!

These dudes didn't even play for this one!

Les McKeown didn't hit the ride cymbals or high hat when he was supposed to.

  • @tripwire99 you're right man. i noticed that once you said something

  • @tripwire99 i agree man. totallt lip syncing

  • I am 11 again and running the "laps" in gym class.

  • im a sucker for a singing drummer

  • did they get their money back yet???

  • Where The Heck is Derek????

  • Interesting clip.... 1 Roller missing.

Love the song, but the mystery remains unsolved.

  • i heard this song the other day .my husband turned up the radio and we sang like crazy. i love this song.. early teenage years ..nice memories...

  • SAT TUR DAY NIGHT!!

    VERY GOOD(°o°)

  • Is this the Bay City Rollers or the Partridge Family????

  • this is my favorite bay city rollers song. i just absolutely LOVE it! they were a very good group, and i don't care if some people make fun of the way the bay city rollers dressed. i say to anyone ,if you think that the b.c.r.s dressed weird,it was their image,so it was fine by me.

  • THIS IS MY FAV

  • Man memories of when I was a DJ - This was a very popular song - just for fun - Thanks for bringing it back!

  • Funny how everyone but the lead singer has got a microphone..

  • I know "Derek" is the drummer but why is he not in this video? It's just strange to see Les playing the drums.

I'm not complaining. I love watching Les play. Just curious on the drum issue.

  • ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The drummer was a blonde with dark eyebrows named Derek!

  • check out my remix of this song on my channel

  • Seriously, was Les really a drummer? Does anybody know? He actually looks like he knows what he's doing and he looks adorable doing it... Hmmm....

  • I did not know that Leslie was a drummer!

  • Always reminds me of the Scottish dad in 'So I Married An Axe Murder". I used to play this 45 all the time!

  • Going to a Rollers show

  • My mum showed me this last night!,I love it because it is good clean music unlike what all the other kids my age are listening to, wish I was born "back in the day.."

  • @MsMagicKeys I was

  • @MsMagicKeys the right time for you to have been born is when you were. it was more fun back then though.

  • @MsMagicKeys ur gay

  • can remember skating to this!

  • This song pisses me off when I hear it at work on SATURDAY night. HAHA, I could be drinking but NO.

Cool song though. Dig the retro feel.

  • great video and audio quality. thanks for posting!

  • I was 14 when this hit the big time in 1976. I was just snoopin around the net and found out that the BCR'S are all like 55 years old now. One is above 60. I am just a few months short of 48. WTF??????? Where did all the time go?

  • @hotforxx LOL. That's what I've been asking myself lately. It does fly. One day you can't wait to turn 21 so you drink legally, next thing you know your 40. Yes people it happens that fast.

  • @BirthofCharlie Too right, I managed to ignore the ageing thing until 40, then...bam, felt damn old. it wasn't in the handbook, and they didn't tell us about THAT in school.

  • @BirthofCharlie Boy, is this not the truth! Tomorrow the clocks go back an hour, I wish we could turn the clocks back 20 years...boy those days were great. But we really didn't know it at the time!!!

Here's to many more Saturday nights!!!!

  • @BirthofCharlie

get no argument from me on that bud.

  • @BirthofCharlie WHY does this happen?? WHYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..(applying wrinkle cream..)

  • @debbiechickie5 Pass the cream this way! I looked in the mirror this morning and my Mom was staring back at me! GADS!!!

  • @AKricket OMG SO true!!! LMAO!!!!

  • Why is the lead singer on the drums?

  • @kirbygene Because he is so good ,can play anythink.

  • He thinks he's Phil Collins.

  • i remember seeing these guys in concert in 76.those were the days they were my fave band i had the clothes and plaid also loved them

  • OMG - that Woody wink at 2:47!!! I think I've died and gone to heaven. Love seeing Les on the drums but where the heck is Derek?

  • Wow i was singing this @ 3am last night

  • S.A.TUR.DAY! NIGHT!

  • Great song! Made me think of the Planters peanut commercial where Mr. Peanut was getting his groove on!

  • Is the planters ad on youtube?

  • I don't know

  • Great memories of the 70's..

  • The bass player is playing left hand on a right hand bass. That was a popular thing to do back in the early 70's and 80's. Awesome song!! lol

  • When they first came to the United States, the Bay City Rollers were billed as a band with a chance to be as big as The Beatles.

  • Nice fifties sound to this song.

  • so cool.

  • I hear (and see) the stomps at the beginning of the song and think, "Man, they should have covered 'Bits and Pieces'!" Back in the day, a DJ in my hometown played this song one Saturday night until someone brought him a pizza and drinks. Hysterical, I think he played the song for an hour and a half straight.

  • @cactusblue60 its amazing how bands pilfer from one gen to the next-the ramones loved the rollers & wrote rock & roll radio based around saturday night & rock & roll love letter...

  • @starryeyedkid

naw it was Blitzkrieg Bop that was based off of Saturday Night

  • @robertaplantledzep Its rock nroll loveletter that the ramones copied.

  • Ramones ripped off the Rollers??? Wow.

  • @thepinktent -Yes, I know amazing isnt it?! I bought a box set of the Ramones recently & it says in the sleeve notes they were big fans & used to were the Roller gear till they went punk!!!

  • Fun video even if it is horrible lip synching. No cords to the guitars, no mic on the "drummer"... Still a fun song from a more innocent time.

  • I remember when they came to Bay City, Michigan USA

  • Love the wink Woody gives at 2:47

  • Alternative, Les playing the drums, Derek AWOL, o well, great song. My youth etc... xxxx

  • これが最初のオリジナルメンバーだよね?

    左でベース弾いてるのが最初にクビになった奴せしょ、やっぱ一番顔が良かったんだねー!残念!

  • Why is Les playing drums? Where is Derek? Why is the edge of the stage adorned with disembodied hands? What the?

  • 0:14

  • Where is Derek? Since when does Leslie play the drums.

  • Thanks for sharing flybreath - Just give me two ticks while I go and get my scarves for around my wrists - Thats it - Waving like mad now Ha Ha. Great Post.

  • This was back when you could hear some good clean rock and roll on an AM RADIO. Before everything moved to FM and rap stunk up the radio! Still have the 45rpm, wore it out when I was 12.

  • whos the guy in the striped shirt?

  • that's Stuart (Woody) Wood.

  • S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Ynight!

  • Loaded up and heading out for the night.

We were young and could conquer the world!!!!!!! :)~~~

  • Was 10 when this song came out..... loved it then and now. Awesome!

  • Aren't these guys the original boy band? Before them it was four to a band (Beatles, Monkees, etc..) and before that it was a front man with four back ups all dressed alike doing the same dance moves.

Bay City Rollers are the first five member boy band with each member building his own tween following (even before the word tween was invented).

  • these guys were never as people are making theem out to be, with teen girsl maybe, but these guys were disco-ey. The bigger nands and groups in 1976 was Boston, Kansas and Ted Nugent. BOston was #1 in the world in rock in 1976. I lisyening to stuff the the aforementioned banmds and Aerosmith and zeppelin and my sister listened to thses guys. This group had less than 1% of the talent ofall these bands.

  • I'd Gladly go back and sit in the Audience and see this performance. Bay City Rollers forever !!

  • grow up you guys and just enjoy a catchy tune and good music. These guys rocked when i was growing up. Les, omg on the sticks.

    :)

  • Oh my God, all of the girls in my junior high classes(including me) were in love with these guys! My favorite was Les! What fabulous memories!

  • idk that Les played drums??

  • Love this song. 1st heard it when I was in college. Everytime I hear this song reminds me of my 20's. Too bad we can't go back to the 70's.

  • Reminds me of my pre-teen years. I wore that album out in about 3 weeks.

  • @BOBCAT9293 i love these guys to and i am 30....i listened to them when i was growing up my mom had alot of their records...they were all time fav when she was a kid....

  • @BOBCAT9293 wouldnt it be great to go back...

  • John and Edward in the x factor should sing this!!:):)

  • I thought Alan was the first to leave, but he's in this one and both Eric and Derek are missing?

  • Comment removed

  • listen to these evil satanic messages ! These kids are clearly out of control ! lol

  • @wingnut4427

    haaaa

  • @wingnut4427 IllumiNUTTY

  • @wingnut4427 I do not think they're singing about worshiping the dark lord.

  • @mistralmail lol I remember the days where everyone was accusing Rock n Roll & comic books for their Children's "irrational" behavior. If only the people in those days could have gotten a glimpse of what We have to deal with now. Thank goodness I don't have kids because if they grew up to act like kids do now .. I would have to skin them alive.

  • @wingnut4427

    very funny post man!

  • Shoulda saved my Bay City Roller pants. I think they're back in style.

  • omg i had a pair too! loved eric, he was all over my walls :D

  • i just have a pair of plaid pajama pants that i cut just above the ankle

works quite well when i bust out the BCR

  • I still have the American TV guide from the Fall of 75 when they were on the Howard Cosell special. It said in the ad ''first there was the Beatles....now the Bay City Rollers." The show was great. I bought the 45 in the US with a picture cover before it hit the US charts in early Fall 75. Kids could be kids and there was still innocence, before violent music. People had fun, smiled, and treat each other more civilly.Look at most posts on these videos including this one. People are wacked today
