  • Ahiii this is sick

  • Spngedrum pickpants

  • go buy a piezo buzzer at radio shack for a couple bucks. break off the black plastic cover, revealing the thin metal buzzer. tape the buzzer to something (drum head/cardboard), hook up some speaker wire to the leads, and it will act as a nice, pressure-sensitve drum trigger. the cheapest solution i've found.

  • Hola,

    ¿Cómo conseguiste hacer eso?

  • How can I make one of these my israeli brotha?

  • this kinda looks homemade.

  • might look homemade cuz obviously the main work wasnt put into the design , but it doesnt sound homemade ...

and thats all that matters ;)

  • the snare sound is kinda irritating

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • i can see this as a practice pad

  • Hi. Could you tell me if you hit it with low intensity will the output level sound be low as well? Or will it come out at the same level?

    Thanks in advance

  • Of course every punch has it level. why would i bother so much if it wasnt for detecting the level?

if i'd wanted them to all sound in the same level, i would buy a push-button :)

  • that's cool

  • YOU ARE THE DUDE ON THE GUITAR AD RIGHT?!?! The online lesson thing, I thought you seem familiar!

  • i bet its because its half responsible for the existence of rockband right now, because this video got featured, and someone high up at activision noticed. thats just my guess. i remember when it was first featured :P

  • For any of you DUMBASSES that don't know what he's saying:

    READ

    THE

    DES-CRIP-TION!

  • Hi, nice video, I make something like this myself but I use a larger hunk of steel instead of a guitar string so it makes a deep bass sound. I saw this video before it was translated I believe, so now im glad I came back to understand your design. keep making more things.

  • It will be interesting, to investigate the influence of ferromagnetic textures over the pickup, this can be the next generation of Analog (metal) instruments..

And then, u just run it through a Marshall cab with some distortions or something :)

  • yeah I agree. It seems two things effect sound, speed the object moves over pickup and size of object. Like a thin bass guitar string making a bass note and a 2" metal block making a deep bass whomp whomp sound. Of course you have it set up a little more sophisticated with reason running the varying input signal, but there could be a very low tech way for sure.

  • U should make diffrent peices and then add them togther to make a whole drumset it would be cool :D

  • אדיר!!!!

  • i no exactly wat ur saying ??????

  • COOOL!

  • cool can you do a drumroll on that thing

  • lol he wrote the discription in english so i think he might know some

  • Sorry, did you just tell someone to learn to "seak" English and then to learn to spell before telling others what to do?

    Pure Genius :)

  • thats so cool!!

  • Sorry got carried away lol!

great job on the drum! sounds awesome! Wich i could do something like that. :S

    also ;

"wish u could seak english better"

    i wish you could spell.

  • Hehe

    Thanks man!

Ive created this vid to show this stuff for some friends, and it came real hot on the tube.

Actually, i still owe many people a detailed video with descriptions of how i made it (in english :) but i got too much studying to do

    :(

    i need a vacation !

  • I know, honestly. Hes clearly not of a nationality wich speaks english, you all should be appreciative that he put in an english description for you, despite your ignorance. The world isnt ENGLISH. Its multi-national. People need to realize this. Youtube is a global organization for people all around the world. You should be greatful he put the time to add an english description before you act ignorant enough to tell him to speak english. Why dont you learn to speak his language!?

  • wish u could seak english better

  • wish you could look right click info and read the damn description before u post something

  • what did he say?

  • ha that's pretty cool, if you get, like, a pad or something you can do wonders!

    that was really good!

  • Dude STFU you dumb ass prick. HE MADE A FUCKING SNARE OUT OF A SPONGE! THATS A MIRACLE! BESIDE i BET A THREE YR OLD KNOWS MORE ABOUT SNARES THEN YOU! Dumb ass ,,/,, (O.o) ,,/,, Great job on making the spongy snare! Teach me!

  • My god. You people are so arrogant. Americans want everyone else to learn English, while we don't even bother to learn their languages. You people should be more considerate, and understand that not everyone wants to change just for you.

  • חזק!!

  • like it

  • not all plp speak English, please redo this in German as well and maybe Russian, don't forget Spanish ... many People speak Spanish!

C'mon ... he has a description in english saying everything you need to know! And that's it... nobody ever told that you have to speak english on youtube!

  • Then read the description. Haha! You're really terrible.

  • How did you connect the wire (string) to the comp? And is it a string from guitar or what kind of string is it?

  • cool

  • inside some electric drums there is a switch that is activated when air pressure is applied by taking this switch and puting it inside an airtight box you simulate a normal electric drum

  • Too expensive

  • you know...its not great...but few people have done it...and u have alot of detail put into that thing...so thats pretty cool...anything homemade like that is cool enough...

  • so how did you do that?

  • explains how you constructed the pad, please. :-D

  • Cool! Any instructions anywhere how to make it?

  • its in the damn description

  • wow all you people here youre a bunch of goddamn retards assholes with your stupid ass comments

  • ze dabar tob meod bechaslacha be atid !

this is a great item good luck in the future!

  • what?! what a bunch of bullshit! this guy is israeli

  • pretty cool

  • awesome

  • Not to be rude, but i did not understand a single word you just said. But nice expirement!

  • Ha ha ha ha !!!

I just figured a way to transform the punches to MIDI output using a nice Arduino i just purchased.

More Details soon. and yes, i will post another video soon, just need to do some developments first, and it will have all the guide u need :)

  • I'm sure I'm not the first to ask, but is there a guide somewhere to do this?

    myspace dot com/verygoodmusic

  • GREAT!

  • muito bom cara!

  • He explains you could use hard and soft hits in a way it sounds dynamic, I think. He also shows how cool it is playing with pencils. That's Hebrew by the way and "Mekarer" means fridge.

And I say to mekarer: ANAAAAK. Coolest thing ever.

  • thats cool :)

  • wat is he saying?

  • do it*

  • if you are using a program can you PM me what it is, I plan on making my own trigger for my bass drum. Such as a program that will receive the signal from the trigger that goes to the computer to change it into a midi sound.

  • Do you know the program Max/MSP? It needs a bit of practice but it will to the job. Elsewise you can use Reaktor which needs a lot more practice. I can help you by mail if you need. OR if you have a midi keyboard with an assignable sustain input, you can use that.

  • Im using reaktor already!

Max/Msp is very good also, it does FFT which no other simple audio software is offering.

But, since i am already in the FMOD/C#/C++ buisness, i am thinking about programin my own audio from now on.

Next phase, to turn my xbox to a drum sampler :)

But, since i am in the middle of my degree, it wont happen in the nearest days :)

  • that sounds good.! let me know about some of your experiments. The message was for mikesabre who asked how to de it :D

  • It would be cool to make a complete set and jam.

  • i just made one.. i just put it to my sustain pedal input on my axiom 49 and assingned it to a note.. thru logic aand wupti.

  • actually . i think if u plug it to a drum module it should work too

the alesis DM5 makes fast translation to midi. that should be cool.

  • Exately..

  • Cool man

  • hey this is excellent now that i realize what electronic music is all about. i'm def gettin' into this shit, it's such a wonderful genre

  • excellent. thanks for the info man! much appreciated.

  • am i rightin saying, that in order for the snare to make a sound, it needs to be hooked up to speakers or other such equipemtn? or am i completely wrong n that...?

  • Yup...

u need a software to analyse the input and then to play a sound, it can be bassdrum/snare/crash/tom/whatever.

i use reaktor to trigger a special made drum sampler.

but u can send a MIDI signal to an external sampler if u want...

  • Hey schmackerz....i guess all of us electronics fans who like to make this kinda stuff are terrorists then? and you can eat your own fucking "shitcorn" who teh fuck shits corn in the fucking first place?!?

  • que?

  • Hello all !!!!

After i finish my tests for this semester i will produce a quick video to show some details ... i will make it in english :)

    Peace!

  • Yo! I cant w8 to build one :D

    :S i hate exams lol

  • Self-Rightous ass. Must make you feel really good to point out others faults or mistakes. You must be really proud of yourself. You win a cookie!

  • put it in his ass instead of his mouth,

might be hard to tell the difference tho!

  • I meant to say your ass instead of his mouth

  • can you like make a page of the instructions?!~

  • That was really cool! Except for the thing where you're speaking some foreign language. All i ever did to a pickup was to tap and make stupid noises with it.

  • Why the hell does the word "terror" appear in this thread 55 times? IT'S ABOUT A SPONGE DRUM!

  • how do you do that again?

  • what???

  • ze tov meod

  • That is really cool. Nice job :)

  • genius dude, make me one!!!!

  • great!

  • vendemala ya!!!

  • Very nice work my friend. Brilliant idea.

  • you are... a genius

  • that was awesome

  • Heh! That's pretty clever.

  • thats kick ass

  • Dude, I think that's really inventive! Good job, thumbs up.

  • I think the translation is on the detail at the right corner box

  • That's very interesting!

But sadly, I don't know what you're saying in the video.. ><

  • Mmm.

    Global Bigotry Fever. Catch it.

  • Good idea, well done

  • hahaha thats cool as fuk. how do i make, or wher do i buy ???

  • Awesome! very cool idea!

  • Drummer boy may show up on your plane carrying his so called drum. Will you keep a close eye on him?maybe his pencils are really xacto knives in disguise

  • Get the hell over it...

  • Spoken like a true Bush supporter there schmackerz, or as I like to call you guys: Small minded, scared, red-neck ignoramuses.

  • spoken like a true iberal CrunxsutawneyPhil= )

  • Wrong, I do not classify myself as a liberal, I just do not like sheep. At least you spelled my name right though.

  • If you saw drummer boy walking around carrying his so called snare drum , would you call the cops? I would.

For some reason he just looks guilty carying around a rectangular box with a wire hanging out of it

  • You racist fucktard.

  • My last post was at schmackerz by the way.

  • What is wrong with people like you?

  • pretty awesome

  • nice druming lmao it's pritty good

  • i wud love to know what that thing is, i always wanted to know about idian percussion, like wat is that and how does it work. plz speak in englsih

  • The easiest sensor is made from a small piezo buzzer. You can find these inside electronic telephones that have annoying ringers, or just about anything that makes a piercing beep. When you sandwich it between some foam like this guy has, the vibrations from the foam get transferred into the piezo and make voltage. But the sensor doesn't pick up sound from the air like a mic. Most people sandwich them into practice pads, like ones from Remo that can be taken apart easily.

  • Everybody DONT speak english, and it's ok. Learn you hibrit!! O espanol, carajo, que ya estamos hartos de tener que hablar la lengua de queines nos dominan. Le jaber, todá rabá.

  • I would like to know what kind of pickup, how it was mounted, etc. but I'm not going to read 2100 comments of racist spew to find out, and I expect the spew keeps him from reading all the human comments. Bummer.. guess I'll have to do my own experiments. BTW, old headphone earpieces also work as mics in this application..

  • its bin laden

  • its a redneck

  • i don't understand you but your vids. cool! :D

  • I want that..that dude, that snare.. all of it ;-)

  • That was great. happpy new year

  • That's pretty cool. I didn't know reaktor can do such things.

  • Oh my goodness, that's amazing! Great job! ^^

  • Cool stuff. I also like to mess around with electronics, thats a good little experiment. Can you make a video explaining how you made it/what materials were used? That would also be very cool.

  • ultrasonic? probably why it's so sensitive. Do you use other kinds of software as well?

  • Man there's so much negativity! comment on the Drum guy's great work instead of bickering over the stupid idiotic racial comments.

  • I love the drums!!

  • he is israeli and he is speaking hebrew!

  • Thanks for uploading.

  • its cool but i dont understand why its a box?

  • not really a box, but it's a sponge!! the cool thing is, using a guitar cord and some really cool software he made that kinda stuff up! it's amazing!

  • whoa. that was cool.

  • Cool instrument!!

  • dude thats such a sick idea nice work!

  • Cool drum idea....

...shut up all you bigoted idiots.

  • WOAH!! dude that is awsome, nice vid ty for shareing with us ^_^

  • i was going to write the same when i saw what djd829 wrote

    very well said jajaja xD

  • i did not understand a word he said...

  • Fuck you.

All intelligence and I wouldn't be here you smartass.

    Oh and btw guys.

that stupid fucker can't understand you or he wouldv'e filmed it in english.

    Dee dee dee. (retard)

  • Ahahaha. Anybody who thinks Carlos Mencia is funny obviously has minimal intelligence. Talk about reused jokes.. of course you wouldn't notice.

Less than a third of the world actually knows English. THE INTERNET IS AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY. It's is NOT only for the USA. If you don't like it, just kill yourself. Since America is so great, you should join the Army and get blown up by a roadside bomb for our freedom.

  • Haha!!! Very well said!

  • I think you do.

    Dumbass!!!

  • That makes no sense in anyway.

    Fix it Shit for brains.

  • Is that towards me or is that to the douche djd825?

  • Fuck you

  • Hey shit for fuck, would you like to know why I'm so negative?

    Because I live in NEBRASKA.

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO EVER BE.

    IT SUX ASS,

    just like you. ;)

  • You probably haven't lived in africa. . .

  • ...

  • lol a good idea. but:who need this?

  • wow kinda coool.

  • aganoth777 your a freak ass racist cunt bitch.

    go die.

  • Good job!!

    Cool... =]

  • Nice!

  • That's pretty badass.

  • I want that sponge! Cool

  • quite impressive

  • HAHA

    i loved ur nickname...

good job with the drum...i speak hebrew too...

    r u from israel?

  • Just a technical note for some of those commenting (as well as the title); I would guess, though we haven't enough info, that he is using a basic Mic, or a drum pick-up. What is so very cool about when he is doing has nothing (prove me wrong) to do with "pick-ups" or even amplification. He is using midi triggers to trigger a snare, and what is even more brilliant is the obvious velocity control, allowing for light or heavy hits, and the dual sided trigger....very very cool!

  • hehe

well... the mic thing is pretty stupid

you dont want to trigger the drums when people are shouting no?

  • why do we all give a fuck anyway? Jesus, slow down!

  • I wish someone would translate whatever it is that everybody is commenting about with such passion, regarding this video and person's comments.

  • drum for 1 euro.

  • You can easily tell from these comments who has fallen victim to the media and US government brainwash. You all live in FEAR my friends and will never be the same again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but This Fear has also turned you all into paranoid, racist, lunatics.

  • schmackerz is a racist asshole

  • by the way that drum is great,i really liked it! i have a spare few pickups i could get off my old guitar.

  • yeah i agree.lets try and get youtube to ip block him.

  • pretty creative!

  • if you want to be racist and make your self look like a total jackass. Thats up to you but go find another website where your ignrence is accepted.

  • I agree, "schmacherz" is clearly an ass hole. but I can't consider you much smarter than him since you spelled

"ignorance" wrong. which is kind of ironic, you accuse someone of being ignorant and yet you seem to spell it wrong, just a thought.

back on subject though, you are such a fuck-up, you ass schmacking butt fuck, don't go on the Internet if you are going to be a racist piece of shit... its people like you that lower the standard on the intelligence ladder of society

  • 1st:guitar pickups

    2nd:detonators/timers

    3rd:airplanes/schools

    4th:suicide bombings

  • racist wank..

  • schmackerz that is..

  • oh shit it's a person with dark skin, a foreign language, and some knowledge of electronics. we're all in trouble now. i do lots of work on instruments too and have an extensive knowledge of electronic circuitry why is it that i'm less likely to make a bomb. oh ya i forgot i'm white.
