  • at least you dont have to worry about dust under your couch

  • Do munchkins shed alot?

  • HAHAHAH so cute

  • I would get one of these but unfortunately, they are banned in my country...

  • @MrAmokz WHY?!?!?!

  • munchkin kittens are the cutest animals i have ever seen

  • I am looking for a cat that I can hunt with, this seems to be the ideal choice. I will probably choose the rug hugger, as they will be less noticeable by the children I am stalking.

  • This is very helpful! Thank you SO much!!

  • Can they go outside or do they have to be a indoor cat!

  • I'm planning on getting munchkins for breeding in the distant future :P They're gorgeous and wonderful critters, and I know where my first will be from xD Expensive tho

  • If I got a munchkin cat, I'd probably be the jerk that would name him Tyrion. lol

  • Lol, I got a dog treat ad from a cat video.

  • 0:28 What the hell is that?

  • @Lystfiskerjens

What, the bald snazzy looking guy?

  • oh, my goodness! I wanna cry! I used to have a munchkin kitty, his name was Kirby but we changed his name from Little Man. He was the sweetest cat ever. His front legs were really short, but he had huge paws, eyes and nose. he was beautiful though

  • Hi! Does anyone know where I can find a munchkin? Know any breeders?

  • @eva6388 Check google. If you're anywhere near Queensland, Australia, I would recommend Pawtique Munchkins from Mackay (: I follow Angela's group on facebook, beautiful high-quality cats come from there

  • gorgous and so diffrent breed of cat <3

  • sweety:))

  • i want one!!!!

  • My mom ended up with some kind of a munchkin mix when she rescued a kitten from the shelter. This kitty is the most gregarious, loving, spoiled princess of a cat I've ever known! Her legs are the medium shortness, but her tail was also broken when we was really little so that's pretty stumpy, too. She looks like a potato of a cat!

  • I have a standard munchkin and she was our first cat. We rescued her when she was just a few days old, but we didn't realize she was a munchkin until she got older. It took us a while to notice because her legs were somewhat close to normal size, but then we noticed that she just couldn't jump as high as our foster kitty (who's almost exactly the same size, but with longer legs.) We had always wanted a munchkin but didn't want to get a cat from a breeder, so it was a pleasant surprise(:

  • I have a munchkin and I LOVE him!!

  • I WANT ONE!!!!! Dx

  • and how long will it be before irresponsible breeders ruin them?

  • To be honest... id rather a normal, long legged, old haggered cat with bald patches from a shelter.

  • Does it give them joint problems? Or pain when walking at some point?

  • mix of eyes probably came from angora or turkish van

  • Awwww :) I've wanted one of these for a while. No munchkin breeders where I live though.

  • low rider kitty x3!

  • rug hugger sounds so cruel

  • I love cats made of spare parts :)

  • Jeah. Let's breed animals with disorders because they're "cute". MURICA!

  • i want one of these cats soooo badly.

i have a welsh corgi, too, so i guess i like to go for the short animals. lol

  • I personally would go to shelters to look for a cat... I'm sure one of them would catch a persons' fancy, regardless of taste. Their (the cat's) personality figures into it a lot also. Luckily, I like all types of cats. :)

  • Is it normal to have a serious mental addiction to these videos?

  • 2:49

look at its eyes its cute

  • Like, if you LOVE the baby meows!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice cat :D

  • 0:47 i fell in loveeeee *O* beautiful kitty

  • @cottoneko *High pitched kitten* Mew! Mew!

  • I wish I could have one..... Do they sell them in Europe?

  • So cute! But I would never buy one to encourage breeding. (though if I saw one at a shelter I would nab it up in a second).

  • "cat behaviour consultant" sounds like the creepiest/saddest career one may aspire.

  • @fullspellcaster people don't say "cat whisperer" much these days

  • 2:51 different eyecolor!!! O.o

  • @MistyXGary Same at 1:49 (:

  • @MistyXGary i think its blind in one eye cus the blue eye looks flickted :3

  • @MistyXGary heterochromia cat

  • @MistyXGary It's called heterochromnia...I think I may have mispelled that but yea, it's also possible in humans.

  • @KeepingYouAlive i have two different colored eyes :p

  • 0:28 MR. T'S HALF-BLACK HOMOSEXUAL STEP-BROTHER lol

  • THIS CAT HAS TO BE THE BEST CAT EVER (LOVE IT'S NAME)!!!!!!!!!

  • awwwwwwww

  • Omg, that's so cute

  • trololollolol, olololol yehahahaha yeyeyeyeyeye hahahahahahaaa lololoololololololo its so cutee!

  • cuuuuuuute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • I want a cat like that but they are sooooo expensive o_O

  • THEY'RE SO CUTE OHMYGOD.

  • Why does my munchkin contradict everything they just said? The only thing they said, and she does is run, a lot. And very loudly at that.

  • @DashronTheGreat Mine too!! Every time he runs it sounds a little bit like Thumper. Thump thump thump thump

  • EWWW! 2:34

  • @sporetv56 i guess u will never be a docter

  • I want a rughugger <3

  • God I want a rug hugger so bad!

  • I won't judge, but you really should go to the shelter if you want a cat.

  • @jermyang (just adding to her comment) Even if you want a specific breed, if you look around enough you can find it in a shelter or rescue.

  • @jermyang agreed, you save a llife with that.

  • @jermyang Nah. Im going get one from a breeder :)

  • @jermyang Nice advice. I'm in England and our tiny little local shelter had one of these guys in and didn't even know it. Angel she was called, absolute sweety. They didn't think anyone would take her for some time because of her 'congenital disorder' as they put it so she was with the long terms.

  • @jermyang or a dog.....

  • its name makes it even cuter! <3

  • yes dont step on it :D

  • any tips for taking care of a munchkin???

  • @BomberBally Don't put too much litter in the box. If their feet sink in even a little bit they don't have room to squat.

  • im getting one soon

    i cant wait

  • I really want one of these cats but I'm finding it hard to find a breeder in Washington state :'(

  • Neko Daisuki <3 !!!!:)

  • How do you *responsibly* breed a deformed cat??!! Selectively breeding for such an obviously dangerous genetic PROBLEM [what was the percentage of kitten mortality when breeding dwarf cat to dwarf cat? 40% -- that says PROBLEM loud and clear!] is totally irresponsible and selfish. The quality of life of any cat is much improved when they are given normal limbs with which to fulfill the natural lifestyle Nature intended for them. Being handicapped for the pleasure of humans is just wrong.

  • @leananshae So you're ok with it happening to dogs, but not cats? Is your brain just a squeeky toy?

  • @leananshae Exactly! I'm glad to see that at least some people understand the cruelty of this whole concept. The very idea of intentionally breeding a handicapped animal because of its 'funny' appearance disgusts me! People who encourage this shouldn't call themselves animal lovers. If you truly love animals, you must care more about their welfare than their appearance! People who support such horrible ideas are insanely ignorant (or stupid) and need to open their eyes.

  • @Kzinix ... while I can understand your anger at the idea of 'designer' cats, it's a little misplaced here. Munchkins get their tiny legs from a completely safe genetic mutation that happened naturally. It's the same gene as dachsunds. It isn't handicapped in any way.

  • @KitsunenoHibi But why do they advise against breeding dwarf cat to dwarf cat if it's a perfectly safe genetic mutation? The kitten mortality percentage and the health of these cats really worry me. I can't understand why someone would actually encourage this.

  • @Kzinix Breeding two munchkin cats is only dangerous because they all have the same single genetic ancestor and there simply isn't enough genetic diversity to safely breed them to one another yet. It has nothing to do with the short gene itself. While I agree that there are too many animals without homes to warrant purposeful breeding of any kind, I cannot see munchkin cats as handicapped. They are as functional and happy as any other cat.

  • @Taalliesiin Most purebred cats would have been better off without humans manipulating their appearance. Look at 2:28, it's wrong to breed an animal for its beauty/cuteness rather than its health. If some breeds have certain health problems, nature is trying to tell you that there's something wrong with its 'design'! People ignore that: they go to a vet to get their pet patched up. No problem with a little surgery every now and then, right? As long as they can have dazzling pets... O_o

  • @leananshae Tell a ferret hes handicapped.

  • @kydrice A ferret's body is supposed to be like that, your example is less relevant for this issue.

  • I MUST HAVE! <3 i love munchkin cats! so adorable!

  • So cute. Don't you just hate it?

  • Is it just me or are almost all the cats "first" found in the US. Almost that is. Just saying..

  • 1:48 blue and green eyes

  • I showed this to my mom and told her I wanted one and she was just like totally shocked by this cat xD

  • that sucks for the breed they can die from a bone problem shit dude thank god for the AMERICAN CURL

  • thumbs up if you noticed two different eye colors on the cat at 1:49

  • Most people who have a breed of cat are just probably people who have a domestic randombred cat that resembles a purebred. I recommend adopting. But personally iI buy because that is where the abandoned ones originally come from.

  • They represent the Lolipop hills, the lolipop hills...

  • I thought it said Mupkin LOL

  • I will only get a special breed cat if I get the chance, I prefer to save cats from shelters first, those are the cats who need love.

  • @TheTurboTV Spoken like a true animal lover! ;) People who really care about animals also give attention to the forgotten pets in animal shelters. Caring for an animal is not about taking care of the most fashionable pet, it's about looking after the pet that's right for you. I hate it how some people have a shallow look on living creatures, they aren't supposed to be cute accessories for your image.

  • I love my two munchkins!

  • i want one :D

  • I think I have a munchkin,but her legs aren't EXTREMELY short,but they are shorter than my other cats, but she's a sweetheart,and not a purebred either...

  • @SavaanahTrick: typical munchkins should be extremely easy to tell... look for short legs... no other cats have them... (ok... napoleons and bambinos have them too... but they are also bred from munchkins. :P

i guess there is NO 100% purebred munchkins. all munchkins are half munchkins or less because they are bred with regular cats so the gene pool is wider and kittens healthier. the short leg gene must be a dominant gene so it doesn't get lost during cross breeding.

  • 14 people are ashamed of being short.

  • Just adopted one from SPCR two days ago! So far, he's all the video said and much more! Such a cute kitty! Worth the seven hour round trip! They do have another one available. If you're close to Wisconsin, check out their website!

  • munchkin + toyger= EPICNESS

  • lovely cats :3

  • 1:48 check out that cats eyes.

  • "A pregnant munchkin named Blackberry was discovered under a pickup truck in Louisiana..." All the best stories start out that way...

  • Their feet- SO CUTE !XD

  • I'm a small person who lives in a small house meant for small people (No I am NOT a dwarf or anything like that.), now all I need is a pet that fits the same category. Yup! Time to get myself a Munchkin!

  • I thought these cats are illegal to breed.

  • @GaijinPrincess Not illegal, just controversial. There's a lot of debate on the overall health of this breed, and the ethics behind deliberately breeding for stunted legs. Mentioning Munchkins around cat enthusiasts is likely to get either a very negative or very positive response, without much room for a middle ground.

  • @16Nire61 Wow this was an informative and friendly comment...on youtube? is the world ending! lol Thanks for the info ^_^

  • @GaijinPrincess I try to be friendly most of the time. :) And you're welcome!

  • There illegal to be bought in california

  • this cat looks stupid im sorry

  • i like this

  • what if your home has no rug / carpet and you get a rug hugger munchkin :D

  • @potatoman08 then you've got a dust mop.

  • i neeeeeeeeeed that cat :"( i cant find it anywhere :"(

  • KAWAII!!!! as if the munchkin would say . . . follow the yellow brick road ^.^

  • i didn't know there were so many kinds of cats, I grew up with and only ever have/ had dogs

  • 00:46

    WHERE ARE YOUR LEGS? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • 12 people have no hearts ::::::::::::::::::::

  • OH MY GOD!!! O.O I WANT ONE!!!!

  • Sounds like a baby name!

  • I think my dog qualified as a rug hugger. Lol

  • i found myself saying "awww!" a lot while watching this :D

  • they are freaking disturbing!

  • none of the kittens in a munchkin litter are 'born dead' as they say. breeding two short legged cats CAN result in what's called a lethal allele, which means that the genes are not viable, won't create a foetus. so no dead cats are 'born'. munchkin to munchkin litters MAY be smaller due to this, but no kittens are killed, they simply are not created . Some breeders avoid mk to mk breeding simply because they want a larger litter, either way not all of the kittens bone will have short legsl

  • The ones with the super super short legs disturb me. It must be difficult for those cats to get around. I do like the ones with kinda short legs though :)

  • @brwneydgirl70

the breed standard does not allow for the mini, rug hugger, or whatever... the shortER leg is what a good breeder tries to keep. the standard munchkin has no trouble getting around, jumping, climbing, and out running it's long legged friends. trust me... the one chasing the laser in the animal planet video is my cat !

  • @thecatmom12 Yeah I just don't really like the ones that have super super teeny legs. I like to ones with kinda small but not too small legs

  • @brwneydgirl70 I'm in total agreement with you. extremes in any breed, any species is a recipe for possible trouble. If the munchkin is bred as it's naturally found, with shortER than usual legs, which are short, there are no issues. this trait has been part of the cat family for many thousands of years, probably an adaptive trait for dessert cats who had to burrow for safety, weather and water as well as food. burrowing animals frequently have shorter legs.

  • @brwneydgirl70 I have a rug hugger munchkin. I didn't buy him, he was a rescue. He is perfectly healthy and crazy fast! He can even jump over the 3.5ft dog gate we have to play with the dogs (both 80+ lbs). I love this cat

  • Have you ever ask the cats, if they want that short legs?? I'm sure they wil answered with a "no" -breeding of defects- is the wrong way!

  • AW! thats adorable! i want one because since they r little they will get along with my shih tzu!

  • cat they still hunt?

  • @heldenkatze they are actually faster, more agile than a long legged cat. think Maseratti, vs SUV... catching one who is determined to run is quite the chore at times.

  • i actualy like persian cats but munchkins are really cute!

  • @bytodaking

I'd suggest a Maine Coon. Easy to take care of, loving and despite being a pure-breed, has very few health issues

    (Also very big)

  • I want one

  • I can has one?

  • i got a munchkin kitty today

  • Pause at 2:05 to see my penis length

  • @2:15 I'm not picky. I'd do her.

  • @barreltrollololol Good luck. I bet she has a lot of suitors.

  • I wonder what the people of ancient egypt thought about munchkins..

  • Lol, the midgets of the cat world. xD

  • THEEEY R SOO ADORABBLLEEE!!! <3

  • D'AAAWH!!

  • Thier FUCKIN ADORABLE

  • I WANT A RUG HUGGER MUNCHKIN!! So cute

  • I think this would be the perfect cat for me...I'm quite short :P

  • Leave it to us Lousianians to find a genetically mutated cat underneath a rusty pick-up truck.

  • Could someone help me? Im a young teenager who loves animals and im thinking of buying a cat but the problem is that i cant decide which cat should buy. I have watched many cat 101 videos but i just cant decide. So what i need help with is which cat should i buy? I want a intelligent, beautiful cat who can get along. I have never had a pet before and i know that its not that easy to deal with a cat but i really want one know so please could somebody give me any tips and types of cat breeds. :)

  • @bowtodaking maybe a domestic shorthair or a bengal i liked em both

  • @bowtodaking Congratz on getting a new family member. In my opinion, you should go to your local animal shelter, and tell whoever is working that you want to see their cats and kittens, and what kind of cat you are looking for. You could find the perfect cat to your personality, and be saving a life. A breeder (usually) only cares about the money, and will be wayy more expensive than the shelter. If you want a purebred for breeding or contests, then thats another story. Good luck :) <3333

  • @bowtodaking Why do you only consider breeds? Of course it's your choice, but a normal cat is as good as any other special breed, if not better. Think about health problems first. Purebred cats often have health problems due to inbreeding and such - so normal cats are actually healthier than purebred cats in general. I would adopt from an animal shelter if I were you. You can find young cats and even purebreds in shelters and you would save a life. Good luck finding your new family member! =)

  • @bowtodaking as a long time cat owner my advice is to consider what cat you want and how they will fit in to your life style. Are you busy and feel better with a cat that can handle themselves? or have plenty of free time for an demanding cat? what will happen if your sick and can't take care of them? also will you be able to afford to take care of them? I suggest a shelter instead of a breeder its much cheaper and the cats are more loving and have more personality. all my cats are adopted. :)

  • @xRamenChickenx I'd pick a shelter cat, but they rarely have those pretty hairless cats.

  • @lesleyhenriquez sometimes all you need is a cat looking for a home :)

  • @xRamenChickenx I wonder though, how can shelters be sure that the munchkin is a munchkin or a napolein or half muchkin half some other type of cat. I mean do they guess or take blood to analyze. Not saying I wouldnt go to a shelter to get a cat, just curious how it would work.

  • @SavaanahTrick normally they guess based on traits, and they go through so many temperament tests and enviroment tests they can tell what cat would be right for you no matter mixed or pure. and a cat doesn't need to be a munchkin, or any certain breed to be loving :)

  • I've been breeding Munchkins for over 10 years. I find that breeding to Persians is the most risky, not breeding to other Munchkins. What they don't mention is that a small percentage of offspring will have congenital heart/lung problems and not live past 4-6 weeks.

  • @bobscreator12345 The dog form of a munchkin cat would be long haired weiner dogs. :)

  • They are so cute and fuzzy

  • I RLLY WANT A MUNCHKIN CAT NOW!!!!!!!!!! THERE SO CUTE AND TINY ^_^

  • Sure, breeds such as this are incredibly cute but, I just wouldn't want this breed to exist for the fact that a cat would have to suffer from the disease which was mentioned in the video. Every time I see a cat which suffers from genetic disorders, yet it is still capable of being happy; ignorant as to what afflicts it, a tear comes to my eyes as if I'm watching a grand tragic movie. Happiness amongst what should be sadness is pure tragedy, in my opinion. I do love cats.
