but i have one question: the girl that taught me tricks said not to use regular glowsticks. she said to buy some kind of neon light or something to put IN the empty glowstick tube, and ducttape it so that i can easily turn it on and off without wasting any light. can you tell me what you do for yours? i've heard that most people that glowstring use these as their "glowsticks." please reply, it would be GREATLY appreciated. <3 thank you!

she was talking about making a homemade LED stick. you can buy them already made or get a little pocket LED and cut the bottom off and ducttape it. it really does not matter what kind of light you use. i prefer using glowsticks but LED's are fun to mess around with and get cool effects :)

THANK YOU for posting this video! you have no idea how much easier and detailed your tutorial was than other ones i've seen. an alumni from my school taught me the 2 beat wave, the 3 beat wave, and the butterfly last year, and i was instantly hooked. so for my Senior year this year, i plan on putting on a performance for both of our talent shows, and the last day of school. i'm well known as one of the few techno kids at my school, so it'll work out perfectly. i have shoelaces, but not sticks.:[

They're glowsticks tied to shoelaces. You can get glowsticks for about $1 each at wal*mart (they come in 2-packs for $2) and a pair of shoestrings for about $1 in the shoe section. Most wal*marts sell these.

... just because you add one beat on each side that doesnt make it a 4 beat weave because that one beat unwinds on the other side giving it an extra beat so the 4 bt weave was actually 5 bt weave.Just count how many times it passes her body once she gets it going.

heeey...thanks a lot...ive been watching this video for like 6 months now. ive learned almost everything thanks to it, the only thing left for me is the 4 and 5 beat wave. the prob is that i dont use normal glowsticks, i use LED sticks with are lighter, so i tend to use to much force when spinning around and knock myself XD. but ill keep on trying, u inspired me :P

Yo thanks for the tips, I'm new at this and I started missing around at the animimazement complex in N.C. this year. Thanks to you I found out that the first move I learned happend to be the 3-beat weave and not the 2-beat.

I really need help on learning the wraps, and the next beat weaves up like the 4th the 5th and beyond. So yeah thanks, this will really help a noob like me or accomplished glowstickers like my friends!

I tried the basics only prblem when you said you hit yourself i was up for that the only trouble i have is getting the basic weave. But smart me i used metal chains with metal tags so yea... my head hurts now. hey but gj ima keep practiceing seems cool.

ravegirl i love your wraps, they caught me by surprise

but it's a shame you use handles, it's harder to adjust length of your strings when you're transitioning from different lengths, try making a small finger loop for your index on the end of the string so that you can easily open your palm anytime to shorten/lengthen the strings for different size weaves by wrapping the string round your hand on the fly... its so much easier that way for me

Hey Ravergirl, that tutorial was awesome....I wanted to ask about the handles....What exactly are they? Are they just glowsticks tied to the other end of a string? And what are their uses? It seems like you cant do as many tricks when using handles.

You are right. Handles are glowsticks attached to both ends on the string. There are different styles associated with handles, like for instance, color switching and tosses are Big when it comes to handles. You can still do the same poi and wraps, but string manipulations are tougher.

It seems easier to do basic poi, but makes wraps and such harder.

Both have pros and cons, with handles you don't get rope burn on your fingers though, that's good.
