The funny bit about her name is that it is not her name at all. Her real name is Mia Reid. She wanted to get a screen name that was catchy and exotic, so she chose her mums maiden name. Her dad is Australian, her mum was born in Poland, but has been in Australia since she was eight. Mia was born in Canberra,Australia
@whipthedog You claimed this elsewhere but I think it's pretty unlikely. Given that Mia's sister is named Jess Wasikowska and her brother is Kai Wasikowski (with an i since he's male), I'm willing to bet that Mia's parents gave her the surname Wasikowska when she was born.
@jmpiork Would you say the same about Sam Worthington? Or Helena Bonham-Carter? They're even longer. Maybe Mia should have thrown in a hyphen? Wasi-Kowska perhaps? Would that help people of limited intellect like you?
