@MrYungsan nononononono! satch is always in, it's his project! how about another thing with loomis, romeo, petrucci and guthrie? romeo + loomis would make the world explode i think!
Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Michael Romeo, Yngwie Malmsteen...true shred masters...however...Jason Becker was still shred god lol, better than the rest :D
you know the chunky dude from Stratovarius is a really good fluid player too, but damn...Romeo is just so accurate and fluid at all times, its just sickening.
yngwie is not as good. michael is more complex with his phrasings and wider intervals. yngwie repeats about 4 or 5 licks just in variations. although yngwie came first he is more innovative not a better player.
Romeo is better than malmsteen, i like malmsteen playing, but the tapping/sweeping technique ov Romeo is simply awsome and higher than malmsteen techniques
Hey guys. Could you please stop comparing the musicians of that genre of music and just enjoy each track. Pay the respect to that genius pieces of music and stop being ignorant pricks. But if you keep being one, go discuss the haircut of justin bieber or if there is a penis between lady gagas legs or not!
I'm not being a know it all but neoclassical electric guitar was pushed hard by Ritchie Blackmore,Uli Roth,Steve Howe,Alex Lifeson and Steve Morse in the early days right? Then came the kind of second wave in the 80's with Yngwie Malmsteen,Paul Gilbert,Jason Becker,Marty Friedman,Vinnie Moore,Alex Masi,Chris Poland,Tony McAlpine, etc. But neoclassical gets it's name from the origin's of influence and that would be Paganini,Bartok,Wagner,Brahms and so on in the classical realm of music.Awesome M.R.
im pretty sure everybody here has heard jeff loomis' solo album. it's great, but it can be a tad sterile at times. romeo keeps it fresh the entire album, so imo the dark chapter is a better album. check david shankle's "demonic solo." if you're looking for something mind-blowing that's what you should listen to. he hits 36 nps in that solo.
michael romeo later in his career resorts to to same finger tapping licks over and over again. i cant STAND how people say yngwie plays the same thing all the time and are oblivious to everyone else that also play the same thing all the time.
I say the difference between Michael Romeo, Michael Angelo Batio, Yngwie Malmsteem IS MAB and YM have no other talent around them really you look at Symphony X and the whole band is brilliant with numerous key changes and much more. Romeo is a great guitarist and a great musician. He has a great mind for music. John Petrucci is great but he can't touch Michael Romeo.
romeo, friedman, becker, vinnie moore and some others have their own style,
not like all the self-proclaimed neoclasical shredders that are an exact copy of yngwie malmsteen´s style.
the guys i´ve mentioned have both, melodies and shred, not only shred like YJM.
and all those cheap cheasy malmsteen copy shredders who critizice im sure they only play Im VIIº arpeggios like YJM himself. the only diofference is that YJM started the style, and thousands more copy him...
i hate people that think this is cheesy video game music, first of all it isn't,and even if it were video game music is cool!! i find a 12 bar blues more cheesy and overdone than neoclassical epic music like this, srsly
if you re gonna use those statements to bash Mr.Romeo, then just listen to classical music and stfu, but i really doubt that,Romeo haters for sure listen to other guitar shredders or maybe the jonas brothers
@entropicoflavio you're an idiot. for starters, michael's compositions are way more complex than malmsteen's songs. also, they are COMPOSITIONS. yngwie improvises a lot. and there is no truth to what you are saying; it is your opinion. the statement "pizza is good" is a personal opinion not the truth.
@entropicoflavio well coming from someone who listens to children of bodom that's funny. Jason becker is the only guitar player in relation to yngwie and even hes better than him. if you played guitar you would truly know that Michael romeo is more skilled than yngwie and more talented too. please don't argue with me. its all a matter of actually playing guitar. Ive been there and done that and let me tell you..Michael romeos pieces require a lot more skill to play.
haven't you ever heard of joe stump? jason becker is hardly like yngwie malmsteen. yngwie malmsteen is classical, but mixed with lots of metal. jason becker plays classical on electric guitar and somehow makes it so it isn't metal, just interesting and unique classical. jason is more melodic and on top of that incorporates other instruments into his music. joe stump is more of a yngwie copy.
Most big influences of Michael are Jason Becker and Shawn Lane and I think you should hear it. Copies of Malmsteen are all Japanese pseudo-virtuosos Romeo has his own uncopyable style
there are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many differences between romeo and malmsteen to call romeo a yngwie copy. for one romeo isn't sterile like malmsteen, and for 2 hes does WAY better band work.
@entropicoflavio I am a sick malmsteen's fan...and I think Romeo is he's best disciple EVER!!!!!!!!maybe better than the maaster..(Oh,god,forgiveme...XD)
So,michael shows many and very different influences...all guitar gods!!!!!!!Love him.
maybe he is just to good and Joe, Steve, Yngwie, Paul and John are too scaried that they would be blow up by the less popular but phenomenal guitar player :)
and it doesn't mean that he is :) It s normal that Michael saying that Petrucci is better because John is far more popular guitarist. Romeo is the best guitar player I've even seen.
Actually in my other video called "guitarristas Favoritos" (favorite guitarists) I put that same piece at the begining, those string skipping parts have an awesome sound!!!!!!
1 person has absolutely no taste in music or literature, and most likely no common sense either.

that is just shit entropicoflavio.
malmsteen is pure clasical, and i love yjm,
but i prefer romeo wich is the right mix between clasical music and oriental exotic scales such as jason and marty used.
romeo is like the son of friedman and yjm.
is kind´a vinnie moore, classical but also oriental, old but new, speed and melody...
