and for the others, just to explain, the first verse of our anthem, that Doherty sang, IS NOT forbidden, it is still the official anthem of Germany, but on official events, only the third verse is sang. But many people dont like it cuz the first words are "Germany, Germany over everything, Germany over everything in the world", which many Germans identify with the Nazi-ideology and many of us are still afraid that other nations think we are nazis.

I don't see a big problem with this. He was merely paying respects to the country and who cares if he said "Germany, Germany, above all others" or whatever. People in the U.S. preach that every single day, but you don't see them in the 6 p.m. news. This is bullshit excuse for the tabloids to hone in on Pete, because Pete sells, bottom line. Also if you noticed, there was like 3 people in the audience that were actually angry. Get over it!

Any mention of nazi Germany or displaying symbols, publicly expressing nazi messages is an offence there and in actual fact he was lucky he wasn't arrested. You don't require a country to be a 'surveillance state' to ban relics that offend people, like they have done in Germany with nazi emblomism.
