this technology has been around for a long time its nothing new they tested a section of California freeway with something like this and it worked awesome all the cars and trucks were controlled by a computer since comp can adjust speed and braking so much faster the freeway was able to handle much more traffic with less wasted time but of course at the time the cost to set it up was $10,000 per mile
The idea is you won't be in the vechile yourself but you would be controlling the movement of the vechile through remote/computer. So, you are not out there and risking your life from IED or other attacks.
I have a brother that works on a similar product. They use GPS to tell the vehicle where to go and it goes by itself. It senses obstacles and avoids them. Their biggest problems is for the computer whether or not it's a puddle or a lake. Size doesn't matter, but depth does!
It's amazing to see unmanned vehicles move with such precision. Are people "steering" them like a giant radio controlled cars or are computers sensing and reacting as they go?
lol its a tank

HAHAha true, didn't think of that.
How do you explain a PC what's a puddle and what's a lake? LOL
What about card boxes and bricks?? LOL
What about enemy soldiers? How do you tell a truck to run over an enemy or to stop if it's a child?

Amazingly, it's the latter. Computers are sensing and reacting as they go -- identifying obstacles, obeying traffic laws and planning its route.
