Great information. DE is a good choice. Its not like most pesticides that are nerve toxins.
Sarah Carter and her 2 friends got sick after sleeping in a pesticide treated bed at the Downtown Inn Hotel in Chiang Mai. Sarah died! Search the names and you will find that some seven people have died in this unfolding story.
Check out the Good Knight “bed-bug-proof bed” video, it’s a bed that fights back! Without pesticides!
yes it would kill anything that would lick it up. including your dog. I'm super clean. more like a freak when it comes to clean. now
I have all these bites on my left shoulder. I'm severely allergic to any type of bit.plz help.cant sleep I'm gonna burn my fucking house down. I don't need no specifics on the ingredients I just need to know what it is were to buy it and how to apply it please help. this morning. cuz I'm actually feeling kinda sick from all this.
Also, I just put some dry wall stuff for instulation was that a good idea? I will say I I still to this day have the DA all around my room. You could say I , "Tony Montana it lol" n theses SOB still kept comming back. You would think by now they would of been gone for good. Also to note I have nothing one my walls or no cloths in my dress just my stuffs been in big black gargage bags for 6 month w little to no problems. The real thing at the moment I could complain about is the light bill.
I have had these things since Nov. 2010 Found out about them in Dec... I have DA and wanted to know if the kitty litter was better? I have been sleeping w/ my lights on since Jan when I found out that they don't like light. It has worked fine. But, now I am staring to seem them again. Haven't goten bitten but, I probalby will bc I have been sleeping w/ out my raido and they proably have been hidingin there and now ready to attack .What should I do?? Is the cement the best or any good.?
Today, I read a research about silicon dioxide hazard. Although amorphous silicon dioxide is less hazardous than crystalline silicon dioxide, it is still harmful to your lung.
To control the dust use water spray. Buy small water spray bottle and spray to eliminate dust from the air.
@jackcarpentersax are you really sure that amorphous silicon dioxide is harmless? After I grinded it to fine power in my magic bullet, I pour it into a container. While I was doing it, place became little dusty. I was wearing a dust mask. After I inhaled some of amorphous silicon dioxide, my chest felt uncomfortable.

Please can you help me because I tryed going to the hard ware store and buying the ingrediants that you asked for.Diaton filter power and they didnt carry it at all.Maybe we can work out a deal and you can mail some of the products to me and I am able to pay through the mail.My address is: MsEdna DeJesus

I have recently successfully used food grade, amorphous DE to rid my home of a small invasion of unwanted bedbugs. I took care to wear a good quality dust mask so as not to breathe in the powder as it's not a good idea to breathe in any type of dust/powder. A light dusting of DE took care of the little critters - it's brilliant stuff!
Amorphous DE and silica gel are basically the same thing. I'm glad it worked for you and I hope some of the people try what you did. Lucky you. However, I would not worry too much about breathing it. It is basically a form of sand and I am sure people who go to the beach every day, year after year breath sand. The powder are a harmless form of sand.
@jackcarpentersax It took several weeks before my daughter had no bites but it was worth it. I asked the respiratory specialist about breathing in the powder (I'm an asthmatic) and he said people in general should avoid breathing in any type of powder 'in quantity'. If you're careful with the application of DE i.e. don't puff it around while using it, then it should be fine :) Have to admit to reluctantly using a little surface spray as well. Don't know if that helped or not.
@Rikki10101 what is DE ? im facing the infestation problem now and my house is superclean i dont understand it so please tell me what DE is and the product you bought so i can give it a try, ty .
@diamondrio21 DE=Diatomaceous Earth. After lots of research, I decided on amorphous, food grade, DE (not pool DE). Apply sparingly with paintbrush around bed legs, in furniture joinery, along carpet at wall, in/around electrical sockets, any cracks and along mattress seams. I also bought an anti bedbug mattress cover. Be patient: bugs must cross powder to get to you. Don't let bedding touch carpet. After 2 wks with no bites, vacuum/clean carefully. Wear mask - no powder is good to breathe in.
How do you apply it to the cracks in the mattress? Doesn't it just fall out? I tried using a baster - I will see if it works. What does everyone else use to apply the powder? Should I spread it all over my mattress? I cannot find a bug as of yet or eggs- but I have been waking up with bites for almost 2 months now- right after a hotel stay? Why can't I find them? My boyfriend is not getting bit and thinks I am over reacting. But those bites itch like crazy! Can't be mosquitoes or fleas.
How long do I leave the cat litter there,am I able to suck it up with the vacuum later? Has it REALLY worked for people, because all I see is people going to try it but not actually many coming back to tell there story,
Very interesting. I just discovered that I had these things. My landlord has the exterminator coming in the day after tomorrow, and if his treatments don't work I will consider looking at this.
@Twisted86 Don't be fooled by thinking just because you have a water bed, that you wont get them.....every morning I would wake up with a bite by something....I really didn't think anything of it, thought maybe just a spider bite or something. Bed bug NEVER crossed my mind(because I HAVE a water bed as well) Fortunately I saw it walking across my bed one night, and still had no idea what it was....I put it in a ziploc bag, searched the net and even had it confirmed by a Pest control Co

@Twisted86 sorry for the duplicate didn't think it sent. I came home from work & stripped & searched by bed from 6pm-4am..finally in the right hand corner near the top between the liner and the wood frame I found a shed skin & a few(not many) feces droppings. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is the only one that hitched a ride in my house & praying it is a male(so no eggs) so far, no more bites, am REALLY hoping I am this lucky, if so Merry Christmas to me. No water bed is safe either! sorry
I wish you luck and a merry christmas. If you do get bites in the future be sure to carefully check out my videos about killing the bedbugs with silica gel cat litter powder.
Just a heads up for anyone who might think this isn't working for them. It needs to be powdered down to a dust like substance. Try using some kind of dust applicator for cracks and you will speed up the effects by blasting them with the silica powder. It has to stick to them in order to make it work well. I've seen the dust turn nymphs into something that only cab be described as paint chips. Literally sucking the life right out of them. Real justice Ha,Ha. Good luck all
been trying this for a week now. I'm still getting bit. I've crushed the silica gel into a fine powder and put it everywhere. Am I missing something? Should I get mattress covers also? I'm so sick of these little jerks..help!
@talkfan wash and dry bedding once a week, seal where floor meets baseboard and check EVERYWHERE for them. Quick kill with spray bottle of alcohol and use a puffer to dust food grade DE in areas where they are found. Place cups of water, oil or DE under bed legs. It's a war you will win if you are diligent. also check areas where they like to hide regularly, blast with alcohol spray.
All you need is the DE or silica gel powder. To be honest you don't even really need to remove the sheets or wash the blankets any more than normal. I put powder on the bed on top around the edges and around my leg areas. Chasing them with alcohol will only wear you out. Just use the powder and then wait. I think the alcohol is a waste of time. But then again it is your time if you want to waste it. Winning the battle in the end is what counts. I'd rather spend my time sprinkling
@jackcarpentersax Hello sir. Thank you for the videos. I would just like to know if the cat litter will hurt my dog. He is a Blue Heeler, and licks everything. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hey there, I've been fighting these little monsters for some time myself. Make sure that you are crushing the Silica crystals well enough so it will stick to them. Use some kind of dusting applicator so you can blast it into cracks and crevices. You should get a much better coverage than any kind of spray insecticide. It needs to be dust. The bugs will just walk around over it if it's not done properly. I learned the hard way and almost gave up until I tried one last time and worked
It looks like salt but is much softer. Use a food processor, coffee grinder, hammer, mortar and pestle, crush it with a rock. Just be sure you grind it to a fine, fine, fine powder.
Crush the silica gel to a fine fine fine powder and then sprinkle a generous layer around the edge of your mattress and under the bed and on all horizontal surfaces in your upstairs areas concentrating mainly in the bedrooms. Thanks for asking.
I live in an apartment complex and our apartment was one of many that people were getting bitten. We got bit for months, threw out beds and furniture and wasted tons of money trying to figure out the cure. I did months of research while being eaten alive. Go to the local feed store and buy a bag of powder Diatomaceous Earth dust your ENTIRE house, leave for 2 days, vacuum then put a line of it around all baseboards. 3 weeks bite free so far!!! It works!!
I just got this shit in East San Jose, CA. These fuckers kept me up for 1 1/2 months. The doctors couldn't even figure out what was wrong with me. My boyfriend finally figured it out.
I had been working with fibreglass insulation and I thought some had gotten into my bed and was making me itchy. That is why I associated the the new red bugs climbing on the wall with my bed and realized we had bedbugs..
To those dreading going to sleep tonight. put a blow up matress or pallet in the middle of your living Room or other open space in your house. and put a border of duct tape upside down(sticky side up) around the pallet. any thing trying to bte you will have to cross over the tape first. Now sleep the sleep of kings.
Sounds like an interesting way to camp out in your living room. I, however, suggest to sleep in your own bed and put the powders I describe in my video around your beds and the upstairs area. The powders will do the trick, no expensive blue CHEP skids needed.
just use food grade diatomaceous earth. Make sure that it's not the treated, calcined, or crystalline silica diatomaceous earth. No need to crush anything.
I agree with you 100 percent. The main advantage is that people can just go to the pet store and get silica gel cat litter within a half and hour but if they buy it they may have to wait for weeks it to come in the mail. Food grade diatomaceous earth is not a common product and most people would have to order it online.
I think I will try the silica gel method next. I am currently using a cypermethrin spray, but I don't think it is working. I have a bed bug in a container which I sprayed directly and it still seems to be okay. Whether it will work eventually or not, the 'knockdown' effect is non-existent. On the plus side, the bed bugs got me to tidy my bedroom!
See, bedbugs are useful for something. They inspired you to clean up. The silica gel will work so well you will be back to your messy habits in no time. Lucky you, then you will never have to clean up ever again.
No once it gets wet it loses all it's drying properties. Silicon dioxide is the same as Diatomaceous earth which you can purchase at any hardware store and not bother to grind up.
I have 2 questions. Bed bugs been biting me for the past 8 months, my boyfriend and I have spends a LOT of $ on chemicals and we also have to trash the bed 4 months ago and buy a new one, and they came back from who knows where. 1st question: why they only bites me? I wake up with a bunch of bites, and he don't get a single one. and 2nd question: the powders have to be placed in a bowl or something? how the insects are gonna be atracted to the tramp? :(
Basically it sticks to them. They are oily and then silica gel powder absorbs the oil from their exoskeleton and then they don't have an oily/waxy barrier to prevent their water from escaping from their body. It also gets in their joints and when they clean themselves some of the powder goes into their digestive system and cuts the soft digestive system tissues.
you really miss them? Come to my house and do some more experimenting!! I'll even pay your plane ticket both ways if you can get rid of them from my house lol
KennyJRT you are a real commedian. No problem, if you pay the plane fare I will come. Just kidding. I have given you for free what I have learned about the bedbugs and how to kill them. The key is for YOU to experiment and to see what works for you. I can learn from you too. Let me know how your battle goes and by doing so you can help others as well. Don't worry, I have my own ongoing battle with the cockroaches. If only I could get my hands on some good chemicals from an exterminator..
If only I could get my hands on some good chemicals from an exterminator...for free. Hahaha I paid $20 for 2 liters of 1% propoxur but the cockroaches keep coming back. I guess I will have to spray more frequently. The propoxur is great on bedbugs if you mix it with silica gel cat litter or diatomaceous earth.
@jackcarpentersax UPDATE; It seems I've been having some success. I bought "Hot Shot: Bed Bugs & Fleas" And it seems to be working. lasts for weeks & It kills on contact, so I bought a few gallons and I saturated the whole room with it. I sleep in another room, so they can get desperate and start looking for me, but they will die from the poison. I've seen a few dead after a few days of keeping the room untouched and let the poison do it's work. So far, no signs of bugs, but iwill continue longer
Cockroach extermination: Borox laundry soap, whole wheat flour, cocoa powder. They want the flour, so they eat the mixture. The Borax kills them and the cocoa power masks the taste of the Borax. This combo REALLY works. You just throw it down all over the affected area. And in the walls if possible. Google cockroaches, borax, flour, cocoa and you will see the testimonials. I would use whole wheat flour rather than white flour. More nutrition = more attraction.
Ive been dealing with these disgusting bugs since the beginning of my pregnancy. Ive had 3 treatments@$100 each done 2 my home which i think was a rip off bcuz it took the guy about 7 mins. 2 spray. Im now 9 months and theyre still here. I threw all my furniture away, got new mattresses(pointless) I wanted the house bug free b4 the baby got here n Aug. I cry bcuz I dont know what 2 do. I cant sleep & alot of sprays and powders i cant use bcuz Im pregnant. IM GOING TO TRY YOUR METHOD... B Back :)
@KeishKeish100 i also have been there too!! just had a two month old and finally figured out I have bed bugs for about 4 months now trying to vaccuum alot don't have a lot of money either.. ahhhhhhhhhhhh
It's been over a month now, and I still haven't had any bites. The cool thing is, I just found a dead one just outside my room. The powder must have gotten him.
(continued 2) post today. Should I remove the plastic and put the powder on the mattress and then recover? Also, understanding that they can nest inside your walls, will they take the powder to the nesting place kill others?
I just recently discovered that we have bedbugs. They are eating ME alive no one else in the house is being bitten the way I am and my husband sleeps in the same bed. (Go Figure!!!!) We discovered them in my son's bedroom about a week ago. I called Orkin and the treatment will cost $950. I have been researching the web for ways to self treat. After reviewing the comments, I believe your method is well worth trying. Last nite we covered our mattresses in plastic. I read your (continued)
Two years. Wow! We had them for a few weeks and it drove us crazy. The silica gel cat litter will work and your nightmare will be over. Be sure to sprinkle the silica gel cat litter powder like crazy and it will work perfectly. Bedbugs have a very oily exoskeleton so the powder sticks to them really well but it has to be ground really fine to work properly.
Go to walmart and get mimi litter made by makall. it will say porous silica sand in uer right hand corner. blend it in a blender untill it turns into fine powder. Then get to dusting and get you revenge on the bugs who have held you hostage for so long. i wish they could speak so they could scream "for gods sake nooooooo, don't do it. cant we talk about this ", when i'm sprinkiling the powder down. again i wouldnt of known if it wasn't for this video. thanks again!!!!!!!!!
It worked(lol). The nightmare is over. i started to reach my breaking point. We had them for like 6mons. and we tried alot of thing to get rid of them. Thanks so much for the video. i bought porous silica gel cat litter at walmart for $4.97. it's mimi litter made by makall. thank you so much for the advice about this stuff. it really worked, i caught two and blended some into powder. then i poured some on to them. and they died in about 3hrs. i'm going to enjoy this.
How long do you have to put this stuff on your beds or clothes or furniture. Also how do you clean it up(if there's a need). Furthermore, can you sleep on any furniture or bed immediately after using this stuff or cleaning it first with maybe a damp rag or something?
how long do you have to leave it down? i just got the kitty litter and put it down EVERYWHERE all over my bed and couch (sofa bed) but i dnt want to clean it up until i know i wont get bit anymore...
This is great info! I just bought my silica gel kitty litter today and sprinkling the grounded powder in the bedroom area. I use an old ketchup bottle to apply the powder in the tight cracks. Hopefully, this will work. Good riddance!
I said just don't use the cement powder on your bed the other things are ok. Don't bother with the rubbing alcohol. It just evaporates in seconds and does diddly-squat. You can use the diatomaceous earth, the silica gel cat litter powder on your bed, no problem, just don't use the cement on the bed.
@jackcarpentersax Just got my silica gel cat litter in the mail today and grounded it up. What's crazy is that I actually saw 2 of them in my room for the first time. One on the wall and I saw the other one along my bed frame while I was cleaning before I put down the powder.
I couldn't wait to try the powder on them, I just squashed them on site. I just really hope this works, I'm so tired of waking up with bug bites on my arms, back, and legs...
Be sure to grind it to a fine fine fine powder. Good luck!
Let me know how things work out.
Try the powder in a container with some bedbugs and watch them die within hours. Then you will be very encouraged to liberally sprinkle the powder all around your bedrooms.
@KayMonarch Please let me know how it turns out, i bought some stuff online and got rid of a lot but still get em! Let me know how you do with this, thanks!
@soocl0se It's been a week and I figured I'd give an update. I haven't had any serious bites since, so I think the bigger ones are dead or dying. There are still some around however.
2 days ago I found a baby/nymph just beneath my pillow in the morning. I changed to a white sheet set, so I could see the small amber thing crawling.
I found 1 bigger one tonight under one of my mattress corners. It didn't move much, but I put it in a ziploc with powder to let it die.I hope to stay biteless
It takes a while to kill them all. Keep spreading the powder. It is good that you put the bedbug in the ziploc with the powder that way you can see with your eyes that the silica gel cat litter powder really does kill them effectively. Yea, the babies are amber and hard to see unless you have a dark bed covering. Keep sprinkling the powder all over the place. It will eventually kill them all. Good for you.
yes you can eat it!! but its is EXTREMELY bad for your lungs if inhaled. thats what he said. he didnt say it was dangerous to eat. Nevertheless, thank you for this kickass video! very very helpful! you rock! : )
from google: Silicosis is a respiratory disease caused by breathing in (inhaling)
silica dust.
again, you have helped many people on this one - you are a mini hero :)
silicosis is caused from breathing in CRYSTALINE SILICA (over a long period of time). Fortunately cal litter is NOT NOT NOT made of crystaline silica. It is made of AMORPHOUS SILICA so it is impossible for it it cause silicosis. There are too many people commenting on my videos who are not doing their research before pretending to know everything (not at all meaning you Coppulor.)
yes you can eat it!! but its is EXTREMELY bad for your lungs if inhaled. thats what he said. he didnt say it was dangerous to eat. Nevertheless, thank you for this kickass video! very very helpful! you rock! : )
You can buy silica gel cat litter at most large pet supply stores. Just don't by regular cat litter. Insect powders at large box stores will also work if they contain diatomaceous earth.
ThAnk you So Much!!! I tried it and it works it's been about 2 months and no more bitting. I put it to the test i found a bed bug put it in a cup along with the crush silica crytals kitte litter n it died in less than 2 hours. Once again thank u so much!!
Hi Jack! Is there anyway I can purchase the brand you have? I tried to find it online but it's not for purchase only for supplier, I have tried everywhere, do u have any suggestions? Or can you sell it? Lol!!!
Fresh Step is the totally wrong thing. You need silica gel (also sometimes called silica sand) cat litter. I think fresh step is made with bentonite and it is the totally wrong thing. Silica gel cat litter looks like road salt and is often blue and white.
Can u post up a video on how to prepare the cat litter with water so i can do it? when u do it let me know that way i show it to my sister so she can get rid of them before she has her baby!!:)
Hi. It is best to just put the silica gel into a coffee grinder to make it fine fine fine. I only mentioned wetting it for people who will grind it by hand. Wetting it makes it softer and less dusty. But the powder would have to be put into an oven to evaporate all the water.
@hueritaloca713 ya hey ive got a baby on the way aswell and want a nice cheap way to get rid of these things is this the kind of thing i should do while my wife is away or should i be worried abouit it with her in the house
i woke him up, he freaked out also, now im looking for the best way to get rid of them, so far , im interested in what this video is showing me, wish me luck!! hey, are bed bugs bad for your health, can they make you sicker or sicker?thanks for the video, very interesting indeed
The best of my powders is the Silica Gel Cat Litter. It has to be ground to a fine fine powder. Your story of freaking out is really vivid and good and to think your brother didn't even know he had bedbugs.
Bedbugs supposedly don't transmit disease but I wouldn't trust any blood sucking creepy crawly. Scientist and doctors say one thing one week and something else the next. They think they are God but they are not. It is better for you to get rid of them ASAP.
hi, im 42 years old, up until a weak ago , i never ever even saw a friggen bed bug, i slept over my brothers house , i got up, walked thru the living room(where my bro was asleep on his couch) i saw little brownish red bugs crawling around on his white blanket, i took it and crushed it with the sheet, it burst, all blood, i freaked out, they were bed bugs all over him, he didnt even know they were in his house, let alone eating him alive!
Read the comments for all my videos. Many people have left thank you messages saying that their bedbugs have been completely wiped out. Many people confirming that my powders work is more than enough proof that my ideas work. Good luck to you. I can't wait to receive your message saying that you and your brother don't have bedbugs anymore.
it amazes me how you MISS them! i dont think i have them... but my husband works at a childrens home that has them, and im afraid he will/has carried them home. im looking for info to do a preemtive strike. $10 cat liter is cheap to try, i hope you are right, you have no reason to lie i guess.... thanks for this info, i will tell people around here that have them about it!
Thanks. These ideas work. They can be tested in a container. These powders are what are in the stor bought bedbug powder products just cheaper. You don't need insecticide. These powders stick to the bedbugs oily exoskeleton and dries them up and is like knives and rocks in their hard joints and like knives to their stomach as they clean it off themselves.
You don't have to do anything until you actually see them or get bites. You could sprinkle the powder around in out of the way places in a bedroom. This would kill them in case the move in.
also explain to me how the grinding works plz do i just pur the powder in a container/bowl or w/e putsome water in then grind the powder adn it will be come finer powder right?
yo yo yoi live in the bronx,ny i just got bedbugs and been dealing with it for like 2-3 weeks its horrible and madd stressing dealing with cuz it makes ur skin look madd ugly and the itch is unbearable. was thinking of calling an extermintor but my friends tell me they dont get rid of em completely so i ben researching on google wats the cheapest way to get rid of and i came across this video. so ho do i start off buy the cat litter grind it into a smaller dust then just spread it around ur bed?
@DJNintendo05 so spread it around my bed and on my bed right? so wen i sleep i can lure them into it since they NEED to feed to be able to live and reproduce is that correct? cuz if this really works ill be truly grateful for ur advice. i just wanna clarify some things b4 i do this cuz this sounds too good o be true
i think the stuff i purchase is like 20 or 30%silica. think i'll go check the pet store tomorrow for silica. i have a tons of the packets(2nd option) grinding up those for now. no sign of bugs and and bites keep you posted... thanks.
in 1 week i'll clean it up. i found one today alive, does not like the ones i've seen on youtube, more like a mix, but it was close. the one i found was not hollow. so i'll keep you posted on your way of handling this situation. and sincerely thank-you for posting your information. sorry i ran out of room again.
It takes a while to kill all the bedbugs but keep putting a little powder every day and after a few weeks you should notice a big difference. Catch some of the bugs and put them in a container with the silica crystals you bought. It the bedbugs are die within a few hours or by the next day it should work if you sprinkle it around the room. Test it first to be sure.
haha i guess i deserve that. anyways i received more than 2 to 3 so i guess it's more than one. i just did what you suggested. the third option with the silica crystals but it's mix with clay(it's the only one i could find in the drug store) mixed it with pet flea and thick killer for certain areas.
sorry ran out of room. to continue: in a couple of nights i received at least 6-12 bites per night. can just one bed bug do this? thank-you if you can reply. i don't know where this bug hitch a ride from.
thank-you for the information. i shall try this first. i have question though: 1. i did an full inspection of my mattress no droppings were found, and no bed bugs. i did however got really wasted one night on whiskey(because the bites were extremely irritating) when i did laundry i found a fat dead bed bug in the shirt i was wearing that night. could the bug died of alcohol poisoning?2. could one bed bug bite numerous times in one night?
Sounds like you may have died from the alcohol. Was the dead bedbug hollow. If it was it may have just shed its skin for a new one. If you have 2 or three bites in a small row that is from a single bedbug. If you have multiple rows in different places then they are from different bedbugs. Even rich people get bedbugs. They hitch in backpacks, purses, inside the spine of a book, on shoes, etc, etc, just about anything.
how about my leather couch? can i spray leather, i was on the couch sleep, i was so mad my couch 2 years old and i am not about to throw that away, lucky i had on all white i killed it with tissue and flush it in the toilet, it was real tiny and red after sucking the blood out of me!
Don't spray liquids on the couch. You should be able to put powders on the couch though. Don't squash bedbugs on your couch. The powders should not harm the your furniture. After the bedbugs are gone you can just vacuum the powder off. Put the powder to the sides of the cushions. The powders may be a bit gritty so don't put the powder where your butt would rub the powder into the leather.
One more question... I am allergic to perfumes. Do you or anyone else know if there is a brand of unscented cat littler like this? Most I have found have "odor blockers", a fancy name for perfume. Thanks!
cont 2.. i have powder around 6 legs, even 2 sided tape, around the legs, sprayed again, i even have mattress covers over my mattresses, wow its like what am i doing wrong? are they climbing up the ceiling and jumping on to me? yes jack i will have to pick this stuff up 2day for real and i will keep you posted....i have a old blender so i will have to try it to get it super fine, so when i finish grinding it, do i put it an plastic bag?
hi jack! i was reading your postings and i will i have to try this, mines is not bad but hell i woke up to 12 bites on me i was so freakn mad, i did everything from bedbug powedrs to steam to sprays i live in an apartment and just got bit and 11;45 before writng this post, i learned not to move to another room they will follow you on my leather couch! scared to sleep in my room but i will have to now, not change your sleeping patterns thats for sure, i have power around my bed right now, cont..
It is a food ingredient. It will bother you pet about as much as flour would. It is harmless and non toxic. It is cat litter. Would they use it for cats if it were dangerous or harmful in any way.
Here is my question. If this is so safe and effective, why isn't there a product on the market fmade from these ingredients? That makes me wonder how safe they really are? Especially for pets. Othewise, I think this is great idea. I'm not convinced my cat can be around powdered cement with no danger to his eyes, lungs, intestines, etc. He is an indoor cat and is curious about anything that comes into the house.
You can use a mortar and pestle and do it manually. You can use rocks, a hammer or something like that. Some people use a coffee grinder, blender, food processor, electric chopper, etc. The electric equipment works fastest. The powder has to be fine, fine, fine.
Put it on the mattresses, under the bed, on the bed frame and all over the room and in closets and on any horizontal surface even around the edges on top of the carpet a little..Basically wherever you see bedbugs crawling. Also in the hall between bedroom doors and on the door frames. The more the better but a light dusting is enough.
Thank you so much! This is incredible and it really works. The key is to grind the crystal cat litter into a super-fine powder like baby powder. I bought a used coffee grinder form a thrift store for $5 and cat litter at KMart for $8. Non toxic and no skin irritation. Sweet.
I am sure you will have lots of the litter left over so be sure to share some with your friends who have a crawling insect problem. It works on ants and other insects as well. Great. Now you can relax with a great cup of freshly ground coffee. You are welcome.
It is non toxic and that is why they use if for the cats.
Warning!!! Nearly all crystal cat litter contains Quartz which is crystalline silica. Data on these brands can be found on National Institutes of Health website.
DO NOT USE CRYSTAL CAT LITTER ON ANYTHING THAT YOU WILL CONTACT OR AGITATE. WEAR PARTICLE MASK WHEN HANDLING.
Sorry you are wrong. Silica gel does NOT contain quartz. Silica gel is man made and doesn't contain quartz. If it did then why would they put silica gel in food?
Silica gel cat litter DOESN'T contain quartz.Quartz is crystaline silica but it is not silica gel which is amorphous and man made.
From Wikipedia: Silica gel page.
-synthetic amorphous silica gel is non-friable, and so does not cause silicosis.
You don't know what you are talking about swankrecords. There is no quartz in silica gel cat littler. Post your false statements somewhere else please.
Besides silica gel powder is an ingredient in some store bought insect powders. I did not come up with the idea on my own. I just read the product MSDS sheets on the internet and found a cheaper source.
Silica gel cat litter powder may bother your lungs a little if you breathe it. But then again, so will flour or sugar if you breathe it. They are all equally irritating and all non-toxic.
Pure genius. I suffered from bed bugs attack after I sat in the grass that was not sprayed. I brought them home not knowing a thing. After a week of bites, I sprayed my whole bedroom with RAID. It was bad since it affected my health. Keep up the great video.
its some kinda whitish spray thats called Kills Bedbugs 2, i am supposed to spray everything down with ammonia first, then spray that stuff down. i notice if you spray them directly, they die right away, but it doesnt do anything when you spray the beds and floorboards. When its dry it's useless and ive soaked my matresses with this stuff.
omg! im gonna try it today! you grind up the cat litter and spread it all over the beds?? ive been dealing with these things for three years and the treatment my landlord keeps giving me does not work
Thanks for the video. I was seriously thinking of buying a steam cleaner or something wasteful of money. Tomorrow I will go out and buy one of those powders plus its cheap.
You're welcome. I don't think a steam cleaner will help. You can't use it on all the crazy hiding places where the bedbugs hide. They are in every nook and cranny. Just be sure to grind the powders to a very fine, fine powder if they are too coarse.
Does this get rid of them for ever or is it just something to temporarily stop them from getting on to the bed ? I read that bed bugs can crowl up to the ceiling and drop from there onto the bed. Also, where do you spread this stuff ? I don't think that the bedroom is just where they hang out. I had seen them in livingroom even bathroom. I live in Toronto and entire high rises how this problem. Even if this helps for now, could't they eventually come back from somewhere else ?
It will get rid of them in a house forever but of course an apartment building is a different situation. However, if all the people in the building work together they can be eliminated. I they don't work in tandem then the most you can do is to eliminate the ones that enter your apartment. At least you will have a means of control. That's a heck of a lot better than the darned things reproducing unchecked. I am spreading nothing bad. I am trying to help people based on personal experience.
i cant wait to see if this works for my gf's house. she going crazy with these things. they are ALL OVER the place. its insane really. gonna try the kitty liter/ cant wait to see them go and get my sane gf back.
HI THERE!!! i would like to know if i can use the Tidy Cats Crystals Cat Litter or the one from ARM AND HAMMER or PETCO Crystals Cat Litter,, or FRESH STEP???? thanks for your time!!!
This is the best way to know. Grab yourself a good handful of live ants or bedbugs in a container. Crush some of your cat litter crystals to a fine, fine powder and put it into the container. Let the ants or bedbugs crawl on it. If they are dead within a few hours then your crystals are good to go. Or, if the package says silica gel or silica sand then it should be good.
Sorry kids but do not listen to this shit...they become immuned to any pesticide within one month...believe no one...Move...thats all one can do.

Buy small water spray bottle and spray to eliminate dust from the air.
blueprince1963 7 months ago
@jackcarpentersax are you really sure that amorphous silicon dioxide is harmless? After I grinded it to fine power in my magic bullet, I pour it into a container. While I was doing it, place became little dusty. I was wearing a dust mask. After I inhaled some of amorphous silicon dioxide, my chest felt uncomfortable.

Rikki10101 10 months ago
Amorphous DE and silica gel are basically the same thing. I'm glad it worked for you and I hope some of the people try what you did. Lucky you. However, I would not worry too much about breathing it. It is basically a form of sand and I am sure people who go to the beach every day, year after year breath sand. The powder are a harmless form of sand.
jackcarpentersax 10 months ago
@jackcarpentersax It took several weeks before my daughter had no bites but it was worth it. I asked the respiratory specialist about breathing in the powder (I'm an asthmatic) and he said people in general should avoid breathing in any type of powder 'in quantity'. If you're careful with the application of DE i.e. don't puff it around while using it, then it should be fine :) Have to admit to reluctantly using a little surface spray as well. Don't know if that helped or not.
Rikki10101 6 months ago
@Rikki10101 what is DE ? im facing the infestation problem now and my house is superclean i dont understand it so please tell me what DE is and the product you bought so i can give it a try, ty .
diamondrio21 7 months ago
@diamondrio21 DE=Diatomaceous Earth. After lots of research, I decided on amorphous, food grade, DE (not pool DE). Apply sparingly with paintbrush around bed legs, in furniture joinery, along carpet at wall, in/around electrical sockets, any cracks and along mattress seams. I also bought an anti bedbug mattress cover. Be patient: bugs must cross powder to get to you. Don't let bedding touch carpet. After 2 wks with no bites, vacuum/clean carefully. Wear mask - no powder is good to breathe in.
Rikki10101 6 months ago

No water bed is safe either! sorry

Good luck all

jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
@talkfan wash and dry bedding once a week, seal where floor meets baseboard and check EVERYWHERE for them. Quick kill with spray bottle of alcohol and use a puffer to dust food grade DE in areas where they are found. Place cups of water, oil or DE under bed legs. It's a war you will win if you are diligent. also check areas where they like to hide regularly, blast with alcohol spray.
lunhil12 1 year ago
@lunhil12

@lunhil12
Stevensmth25 1 year ago
How did you crush up this stuff?
Modacolorist 1 year ago

It works!!

I doubt that body talc or foot powder will work. (unless, of course, bedbugs get diaper rash or athlete's foot)

I have not tried talc but I don't think it will work. There has to be silicon dioxide to kill them and talc is feldspar as far as I can remember.

To those dreading going to sleep tonight. put a blow up matress or pallet in the middle of your living Room or other open space in your house. and put a border of duct tape upside down(sticky side up) around the pallet. any thing trying to bte you will have to cross over the tape first. Now sleep the sleep of kings.

just use food grade diatomaceous earth.

Food grade diatomaceous earth is not a common product and most people would have to order it online.

correction to my message to @nakedshorter
if they buy it they may have to wait for weeks it to come in the mail: meaning the food grade diatomaceous earth.

I think I will try the silica gel method next. I am currently using a cypermethrin spray, but I don't think it is working. I have a bed bug in a container which I sprayed directly and it still seems to be okay. Whether it will work eventually or not, the 'knockdown' effect is non-existent. On the plus side, the bed bugs got me to tidy my bedroom!
retread01 1 year ago
@retread01
See, bedbugs are useful for something. They inspired you to clean up. The silica gel will work so well you will be back to your messy habits in no time. Lucky you, then you will never have to clean up ever again.

can you add water and make a spray out of the cat litter powder? also, can you sleep on it safely?

eoublue 1 year ago
How do you get it on them?
sumflow 1 year ago
What do they do?
Do they eat the stuff?
sumflow 1 year ago
Basically it sticks to them. They are oily and then silica gel powder absorbs the oil from their exoskeleton and then they don't have an oily/waxy barrier to prevent their water from escaping from their body. It also gets in their joints and when they clean themselves some of the powder goes into their digestive system and cuts the soft digestive system tissues.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
you really miss them? Come to my house and do some more experimenting!! I'll even pay your plane ticket both ways if you can get rid of them from my house lol

So far, no signs of bugs, but iwill continue longer
kennyJRT 1 year ago
@jackcarpentersax

KayMonarch 1 year ago

Coppulor 1 year ago
silicosis is caused from breathing in CRYSTALINE SILICA (over a long period of time).

You can eat silica GEL. You don't know what you are talking about.

where can i buy this thing? the bed bugs in our house is killing me slowly ...thank you
KEITHWHYZIE 1 year ago
You can buy silica gel cat litter at most large pet supply stores. Just don't by regular cat litter. Insect powders at large box stores will also work if they contain diatomaceous earth.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
These things are all pretty harmless. Only the cement should not be breathed.
Just don't put the cement in the bedroom. The other powders are no problem you can practically eat them.

I used a product called Simplicity Plus Crystals.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
Hi Jack! Is there anyway I can purchase the brand you have? I tried to find it online but it's not for purchase only for supplier, I have tried everywhere, do u have any suggestions? Or can you sell it? Lol!!!
sonebone7 1 year ago
You should be able to find it at any large pet supply store. The other alternative is the insect powders they sell at the large hardware stores.

I dont know if it has silicone in the fresh step crystals
sonebone7 1 year ago
Fresh Step is the totally wrong thing. You need silica gel (also sometimes called silica sand) cat litter. I think fresh step is made with bentonite and it is the totally wrong thing. Silica gel cat litter looks like road salt and is often blue and white.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
does the fresh step crystals work? i couldnt find the one you had, it has blue and white crystals in the bag..

Can u post up a video on how to prepare the cat litter with water so i can do it? when u do it let me know that way i show it to my sister so she can get rid of them before she has her baby!!:)
hueritaloca713 1 year ago
Hi. It is best to just put the silica gel into a coffee grinder to make it fine fine fine. I only mentioned wetting it for people who will grind it by hand. Wetting it makes it softer and less dusty. But the powder would have to be put into an oven to evaporate all the water.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
@hueritaloca713 ya hey ive got a baby on the way aswell and want a nice cheap way to get rid of these things is this the kind of thing i should do while my wife is away or should i be worried abouit it with her in the house

i woke him up, he freaked out also, now im looking for the best way to get rid of them, so far , im interested in what this video is showing me, wish me luck!! hey, are bed bugs bad for your health, can they make you sicker or sicker?thanks for the video, very interesting indeed
kittykatt03176708 1 year ago
The best of my powders is the Silica Gel Cat Litter. It has to be ground to a fine fine powder. Your story of freaking out is really vivid and good and to think your brother didn't even know he had bedbugs.
Bedbugs supposedly don't transmit disease but I wouldn't trust any blood sucking creepy crawly. Scientist and doctors say one thing one week and something else the next. They think they are God but they are not. It is better for you to get rid of them ASAP.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
hi, im 42 years old, up until a weak ago , i never ever even saw a friggen bed bug, i slept over my brothers house , i got up, walked thru the living room(where my bro was asleep on his couch) i saw little brownish red bugs crawling around on his white blanket, i took it and crushed it with the sheet, it burst, all blood, i freaked out, they were bed bugs all over him, he didnt even know they were in his house, let alone eating him alive!
kittykatt03176708 1 year ago
Read the comments for all my videos. Many people have left thank you messages saying that their bedbugs have been completely wiped out. Many people confirming that my powders work is more than enough proof that my ideas work. Good luck to you. I can't wait to receive your message saying that you and your brother don't have bedbugs anymore.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
it amazes me how you MISS them! i dont think i have them... but my husband works at a childrens home that has them, and im afraid he will/has carried them home. im looking for info to do a preemtive strike. $10 cat liter is cheap to try, i hope you are right, you have no reason to lie i guess.... thanks for this info, i will tell people around here that have them about it!
tristansmother2 1 year ago
Thanks. These ideas work. They can be tested in a container. These powders are what are in the stor bought bedbug powder products just cheaper. You don't need insecticide. These powders stick to the bedbugs oily exoskeleton and dries them up and is like knives and rocks in their hard joints and like knives to their stomach as they clean it off themselves.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
You don't have to do anything until you actually see them or get bites. You could sprinkle the powder around in out of the way places in a bedroom. This would kill them in case the move in.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
also explain to me how the grinding works plz do i just pur the powder in a container/bowl or w/e putsome water in then grind the powder adn it will be come finer powder right?

yo yo yoi live in the bronx,ny i just got bedbugs and been dealing with it for like 2-3 weeks its horrible and madd stressing dealing with cuz it makes ur skin look madd ugly and the itch is unbearable. was thinking of calling an extermintor but my friends tell me they dont get rid of em completely so i ben researching on google wats the cheapest way to get rid of and i came across this video. so ho do i start off buy the cat litter grind it into a smaller dust then just spread it around ur bed?
DJNintendo05 1 year ago
@DJNintendo05 so spread it around my bed and on my bed right? so wen i sleep i can lure them into it since they NEED to feed to be able to live and reproduce is that correct? cuz if this really works ill be truly grateful for ur advice. i just wanna clarify some things b4 i do this cuz this sounds too good o be true
DJNintendo05 1 year ago
i think the stuff i purchase is like 20 or 30%silica. think i'll go check the pet store tomorrow for silica. i have a tons of the packets(2nd option) grinding up those for now. no sign of bugs and and bites keep you posted... thanks.
odog01 1 year ago
20-30% should be okay. Did you test it?
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
in 1 week i'll clean it up. i found one today alive, does not like the ones i've seen on youtube, more like a mix, but it was close. the one i found was not hollow. so i'll keep you posted on your way of handling this situation. and sincerely thank-you for posting your information. sorry i ran out of room again.
odog01 1 year ago
It takes a while to kill all the bedbugs but keep putting a little powder every day and after a few weeks you should notice a big difference. Catch some of the bugs and put them in a container with the silica crystals you bought. It the bedbugs are die within a few hours or by the next day it should work if you sprinkle it around the room. Test it first to be sure.
jackcarpentersax 1 year ago
haha i guess i deserve that. anyways i received more than 2 to 3 so i guess it's more than one. i just did what you suggested. the third option with the silica crystals but it's mix with clay(it's the only one i could find in the drug store) mixed it with pet flea and thick killer for certain areas.
odog01 1 year ago
sorry ran out of room. to continue: in a couple of nights i received at least 6-12 bites per night. can just one bed bug do this? thank-you if you can reply. i don't know where this bug hitch a ride from.
odog01 1 year ago
thank-you for the information. i shall try this first. i have question though: 1. i did an full inspection of my mattress no droppings were found, and no bed bugs. i did however got really wasted one night on whiskey(because the bites were extremely irritating) when i did laundry i found a fat dead bed bug in the shirt i was wearing that night. could the bug died of alcohol poisoning?2. could one bed bug bite numerous times in one night?
odog01 1 year ago
Sounds like you may have died from the alcohol. Was the dead bedbug hollow. If it was it may have just shed its skin for a new one. If you have 2 or three bites in a small row that is from a single bedbug. If you have multiple rows in different places then they are from different bedbugs. Even rich people get bedbugs. They hitch in backpacks, purses, inside the spine of a book, on shoes, etc, etc, just about anything.

how about my leather couch? can i spray leather, i was on the couch sleep, i was so mad my couch 2 years old and i am not about to throw that away, lucky i had on all white i killed it with tissue and flush it in the toilet, it was real tiny and red after sucking the blood out of me!
sonebone7 2 years ago
Don't spray liquids on the couch. You should be able to put powders on the couch though. Don't squash bedbugs on your couch. The powders should not harm the your furniture. After the bedbugs are gone you can just vacuum the powder off. Put the powder to the sides of the cushions. The powders may be a bit gritty so don't put the powder where your butt would rub the powder into the leather.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Put powders all around the couch and in the bedroom areas all over as well.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
One more question... I am allergic to perfumes. Do you or anyone else know if there is a brand of unscented cat littler like this? Most I have found have "odor blockers", a fancy name for perfume. Thanks!

cont 2.. i have powder around 6 legs, even 2 sided tape, around the legs, sprayed again, i even have mattress covers over my mattresses, wow its like what am i doing wrong? are they climbing up the ceiling and jumping on to me? yes jack i will have to pick this stuff up 2day for real and i will keep you posted....i have a old blender so i will have to try it to get it super fine, so when i finish grinding it, do i put it an plastic bag?
sonebone7 2 years ago
hi jack! i was reading your postings and i will i have to try this, mines is not bad but hell i woke up to 12 bites on me i was so freakn mad, i did everything from bedbug powedrs to steam to sprays i live in an apartment and just got bit and 11;45 before writng this post, i learned not to move to another room they will follow you on my leather couch! scared to sleep in my room but i will have to now, not change your sleeping patterns thats for sure, i have power around my bed right now, cont..
sonebone7 2 years ago
BTW I will try the cat litter and grind it in my blender. But do you know if it can hurt your pet's eyes and lungs, etc?
Thanks!
PinkLederhosen 2 years ago
It is a food ingredient. It will bother you pet about as much as flour would. It is harmless and non toxic. It is cat litter. Would they use it for cats if it were dangerous or harmful in any way.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Here is my question. If this is so safe and effective, why isn't there a product on the market fmade from these ingredients? That makes me wonder how safe they really are? Especially for pets. Othewise, I think this is great idea. I'm not convinced my cat can be around powdered cement with no danger to his eyes, lungs, intestines, etc. He is an indoor cat and is curious about anything that comes into the house.
PinkLederhosen 2 years ago
What is used to grind up the litter into powder?
jrm59e 2 years ago
You can use a mortar and pestle and do it manually. You can use rocks, a hammer or something like that. Some people use a coffee grinder, blender, food processor, electric chopper, etc. The electric equipment works fastest. The powder has to be fine, fine, fine.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
please help, where do I purt this powder, around the bed, spread it all over the room?
MaryTully 2 years ago
Put it on the mattresses, under the bed, on the bed frame and all over the room and in closets and on any horizontal surface even around the edges on top of the carpet a little..Basically wherever you see bedbugs crawling. Also in the hall between bedroom doors and on the door frames. The more the better but a light dusting is enough.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Thank you so much! This is incredible and it really works. The key is to grind the crystal cat litter into a super-fine powder like baby powder. I bought a used coffee grinder form a thrift store for $5 and cat litter at KMart for $8. Non toxic and no skin irritation. Sweet.
swankrecords 2 years ago
I am sure you will have lots of the litter left over so be sure to share some with your friends who have a crawling insect problem. It works on ants and other insects as well. Great. Now you can relax with a great cup of freshly ground coffee. You are welcome.
It is non toxic and that is why they use if for the cats.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
WEAR PARTICLE MASK WHEN HANDLING.
swankrecords 2 years ago
Sorry you are wrong. Silica gel does NOT contain quartz. Silica gel is man made and doesn't contain quartz. If it did then why would they put silica gel in food?
Silica gel cat litter DOESN'T contain quartz.Quartz is crystaline silica but it is not silica gel which is amorphous and man made.
From Wikipedia: Silica gel page.
-synthetic amorphous silica gel is non-friable, and so does not cause silicosis.
-Silica gel is non-toxic
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Keyword; Quartz.
Quartz is dangerous. it can found in ALL crystal based cat litter.
swankrecords 2 years ago
Bla, bla, bla.
You don't know what you are talking about swankrecords. There is no quartz in silica gel cat littler. Post your false statements somewhere else please.

Besides silica gel powder is an ingredient in some store bought insect powders. I did not come up with the idea on my own. I just read the product MSDS sheets on the internet and found a cheaper source.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Silica gel cat litter powder may bother your lungs a little if you breathe it. But then again, so will flour or sugar if you breathe it. They are all equally irritating and all non-toxic.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Pure genius. I suffered from bed bugs attack after I sat in the grass that was not sprayed. I brought them home not knowing a thing. After a week of bites, I sprayed my whole bedroom with RAID. It was bad since it affected my health. Keep up the great video.

you can buy silica gel cat litter at pretty well any large pet supply retailer. pet value, pet smart or even smaller retailers
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
its some kinda whitish spray thats called Kills Bedbugs 2, i am supposed to spray everything down with ammonia first, then spray that stuff down. i notice if you spray them directly, they die right away, but it doesnt do anything when you spray the beds and floorboards. When its dry it's useless and ive soaked my matresses with this stuff.
Teeliz 2 years ago
you don't have to use ammonia. Use insect powders or powdered silica gel. It sticks to the bedbugs and dehydrates them.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
omg! im gonna try it today! you grind up the cat litter and spread it all over the beds?? ive been dealing with these things for three years and the treatment my landlord keeps giving me does not work
Teeliz 2 years ago
Just be sure the powders are ground very, very fine. What does your landlord give you to use?
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Thanks for the video. I was seriously thinking of buying a steam cleaner or something wasteful of money. Tomorrow I will go out and buy one of those powders plus its cheap.
Thanks again jack.
MelineDorkie 2 years ago
You're welcome. I don't think a steam cleaner will help. You can't use it on all the crazy hiding places where the bedbugs hide. They are in every nook and cranny. Just be sure to grind the powders to a very fine, fine powder if they are too coarse.
jackcarpentersax 2 years ago
Does this get rid of them for ever or is it just something to temporarily stop them from getting on to the bed ? I read that bed bugs can crowl up to the ceiling and drop from there onto the bed. Also, where do you spread this stuff ? I don't think that the bedroom is just where they hang out. I had seen them in livingroom even bathroom. I live in Toronto and entire high rises how this problem. Even if this helps for now, could't they eventually come back from somewhere else ?
05Robert71 2 years ago
It will get rid of them in a house forever but of course an apartment building is a different situation. However, if all the people in the building work together they can be eliminated. I they don't work in tandem then the most you can do is to eliminate the ones that enter your apartment. At least you will have a means of control. That's a heck of a lot better than the darned things reproducing unchecked. I am spreading nothing bad. I am trying to help people based on personal experience.

HI THERE!!! i would like to know if i can use the Tidy Cats Crystals Cat Litter or the one from ARM AND HAMMER or PETCO Crystals Cat Litter,, or FRESH STEP???? thanks for your time!!!
olivercan1985 2 years ago
This is the best way to know. Grab yourself a good handful of live ants or bedbugs in a container. Crush some of your cat litter crystals to a fine, fine powder and put it into the container. Let the ants or bedbugs crawl on it. If they are dead within a few hours then your crystals are good to go. Or, if the package says silica gel or silica sand then it should be good.
