i have this on tape with morton downey recorded from the radio. i like boswelling this great arrangement. love the violinist. connee is great boswelling greatness voice!!!!!!rated highest 11+ ROGHARM do you have the morton downey version?
If you ever get a chance see the 1937 film "Artists and Models"-Ms Boswell teams up with Andre Kostelanetz on a gorgeous but completely forgotten song called "Whispers In The Dark"-It was nominated for the Academy Award that year but did not win and the only recorded version I own is on an old LP by Paul Weston
Not got the stuff to hand. But this exact version was on the BBC's wonderful "Pennies from Heaven" TV Series CD, and they, stunningly, included ALL recording information. So it is all there. Readily accessible, if I can ever get these boxes emptied.
Vocalists come and go, but Connee started a vogue for more intimate phrasing, and led the way for Jazz interpreters like Peggy Lee, or Ella Fitz, she was great.
Great, Great voice. Amazing how God continue replenish the earth. We are just a passing cloud; I guess this is why I am so facinated by these artist on Youtube. They were big stars in their days. Connie was great; makes for a great movie about beauty, brains, what a voice and unrelenting determination!
Thanks for posting this one ... love Connee Boswell, solo as well as singing with her sisters. This one is one of my favorites of her, ever since I heard it in "Pennies from Heaven" (BBC-series).
Did you know she was in a wheelchair most of her life due to childhood polio?
If you happen to have "I'll Never Have To Dream Again" by her I would love to hear that too! Lost my copy of it and haven't been able to get a hold of it anymore.

@emergdispatch There is a recording of Connie singing Whispers in the Dark. It was her theme song for years. I'll see if I can get it posted.
