To me, that line really embodies the whole theme of the movie.

I LOVE this movie, it has heart and depth and I love when Mary says that the Bible isnt a weapon. It's supposed to be a guide to help you get to the point where you don't have to think WWJD,you already know it and execute it for yourself.

The Bible never clearly states abstinence is a must before marriage, it merely says not to go to your marriage bed soiled or something along the lines of that. Notice how Hilary Faye acted like she was OH SO CONCERNED about Dean, but when Mary expressed doubt, that made her feel uncomfortable, so she had to kick her out of the Christian Jewels.

1) I bet Hilary Faye never had a moment of doubt in her life and wouldn't know what to do about it if she did.

That's probably why she didn't know how to handle Mary's doubt.

2) Hilary Faye also broke her promise to keep Dean's homosexuality a secret, all to make HERSELF look good for wanting to "help him".
