I loved the Candykins. One of my very favorite 90's bands. Even more overlooked than Jellyfish. Prime britpop. This song is every bit the equal of Oasis or Blur.
I knew Nick, Nick and Mark back in the day and I always found it strange that they didn't 'make it'.
They always cited misfortune but really, when you listen to this now, they simply weren't that great. Music was moving on and The Candyskins were stuck in a rut that they couldn't see out of.
Good music lasts a lifetime. This music barely made it out of the Zodiac despite Geffen contracts and apparent shenanigans with Rollings Stones samples. All excuses.
@PooleyX sorry screw you, i played this album as much if not more then any other band during my teens in the early 90s. The only reason I stopped playing it, was i played it too much. That's just honest truth. This album which contains this track had not one bad song. It was as much a theme song as Nirvana's. this just didn't get the play time.
When I recall this album, I do it with pride. I doubt I stand alone when I say this band and this album was great.
@PooleyX I agree that good music lasts a lifetime and The Candyskins have lasted for quite a large piece of my lifetime already.I don't care if they never "made it"...whatever that means. All I know is that they created an impressive body of work and their music was like a buried treasure in an otherwise dismal decade(the Nineties) for popular music.
@PooleyX Umm considering one of their songs is in a film... and their song was used in a crisp ad in the USA...umm.. maybe your wrong.. atleast they put heart into their songs!!
This was the song that introduced me to the Candyskins. Whenever I hear it, I takes me back to when I first heard it on an alt-rock radio station while visiting San Francisco back in the day. I've been a fan of the band ever since. It's a crime the Candyskins never made it BIG!
Candy Skins,Stone Roses,Ned's Atomic Dustbin, All great bands with great Albums that are still great 20 years later

PooleyX, I disagree and would have to ask you if you have ever written/recorded anything as good as Fun? That record is a classic....
