When I had to take my rottie to the vet for needles, when the vet was putting them in her, she put this bowl of food in front of her, and even though she whined through the whole thing, she never even looked up or stopped eating!

Just wanted to point out, not everybody cuts the tails off, you can wrap an elastic band around the pups tail which would cut off the blood circulation to that part of the tail, then it eventually falls off and the tip of the tail is already healed. This is how my pups tail was docked

I almost forgot to address your question. Cutting off the foreskin of a penis is a medical procedure with proven benefits. It dates back to biblical times. Similar to other biblical laws such as not eating pork because they would often get sick from it, they would cut off the foreskin because it would often become infected and they did not have the medicine to cure the baby. As for circumcision in females, I'm sure most people can agree that is a basic violation of a person's rights.

Here in Canada, they are allowing the tails now, just depends on the breeder and it's done when they are only a few days old as it is not dangerous like it is when they are older. Our puppies father is from Serbia, he's a show dog and has his tail. Our puppy doesn't. .

I think back in Germany when the Rott's were used, their tails were docked, so that they couldn't be pulled in an attack. If you've ever seen a dog get their tail pulled, they yelp. No tail, no problem, but why they continue beats me? Just like the bulldogs, they've altered their noses, or in other breeds, where they alter other things. Again, it's the Kennel clubs, the judging in dog comps. They are the ones who choose this, and breeders follow. No worries!

@TheSofres no it is actually because they were cattle dogs, and no tail meant 1: they couldnt get manure and things built up in it and weight on tail would cause back problems, 2: it couldnt get stepped on by a cow, and 3: no tail put their weight towards their front end, allowing them to trot for hours on end. Also, when they were house dogs, the tails couldnt knock anything over . It is common for rotties to hurt or even break their tails by hitting it on a sharp corner like a cupboard.
