Anyone who bounds thier art to a specific genre should get rid of the fence and do whatever they want, with or without the fan's thoughts in mind. They make art for themselves, and they give it away for us. It's our little relationship. xD I don't care what genre it is, if I like, then I like it. It should be the same to them too. :) But I always associated Hip Hop to the beat, and rap to how the lyrics are said. you could sing some rap lyrics and it'll be a completely differant genre.

dude, the pursuit of hip-hop will inform the listener about hip-hop, its not like one day you hear rap and think it started there. to illustrate my point i'll provide this example: nobody these days makes music like led zeppelin, but everybody knows about them and is influenced by that knowledge, rock doesn't discourage evolution, neither should hip-hop.
