@123Jenny90 I wonder if it's because she isn't presentable enough. She's got the rough accent, the regular teeth and she probably can't play another type of girl. Just rough around the edges. Like they won't have her play the belle of the ball. So she probably isn't getting many rules. Although I think she did audition for Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. And she's not a classically trained actress. She's a girl they found of the streets. So maybe she needs more training. Just a guess

@quietgirlriot I don't disagree. I'd like to believe so too. When it comes to her looks, the girl is fine. What I was saying was that I hope she gets the opportunities she deserves and not get rejected for details that are less important, for instance her accent, her style and her whole image.

@123Jenny90 It would be nice if we had an industry that chose substance over image. But she hasn't enough experience probably to get the harder edged roles she'd likely be cast in. Andrea likes amateur but it seems like Hollywood likes a bit of training if they're gonna cast an actress to do bring in the names and have emotional range she probably has some more work to do. I wish her all the best. Except she won't make it here in America.

Just watched "Fish Tank" and Katie Jarvis is incredible. Thought all of the main characters in the film were played very, very well but Katie really stood out. She is such a talent, and really should be encouraged to keep acting. Good luck Katie.

She was truly incredible. So refreshing to have someone 'real' cast for a change! She lives it so she's the one that can portray it the best. At times my life has been similar to Mia's and she showed it so accurately. I was truly just blown away watching the film. Hope she gets to do much more in the future.

I thought she was incredible in Fish Tank. I was shocked to read she has neither dancing nor acting experience before. She is incredibly gifted. Mia is one of the great characters in film history, in my opinion. I really was stunned by this movie.

Some commentor's are jerk's. I just saw Fish Tank on netflix in USA. That exposure only help's Katie Jarvis. She is 19. Katie was signed by Johnny Depp's agent. The talent is there albeit raw. Acting classes etc... Will develop her talent and lose the accent. The door is open for her and I wish her the best. One Hit wonder? I say no. It's up to Katie. She was great in Fish Tank. The fact she has a child show's her maturity as she missed Fish Tank at Canne's in 09 to take care of her newborn.

@trafimow While she may share the same dialect as her character, they are afterall both from Essex, you can't really say she was playing herself unless of course you know her personally. All the interviews I have read seems to suggest both characters are poles apart. I'm a professional actor, and I can say with assurance that acting in front of camera is no easy feat, and the fact she has not had any acting training makes her performance seem even more amazing. Method acting at it's best!

I reallly do hope she continues acting, its so refreshing to see an actress who can play a character that some of us can relate to. In Britain most of our young actresses are well spoken and appear in certain films, namely costume drama. I'm not saying they're bad actresses, but it'll be pleasent to see Jarvis in the future.
