  • @TheKenfig A moron by any other name would be called TheKenfig :)

  • Amy Turtle's got my accent but I have to say that she couldn't act with a gun to her head.

  • Was Amy Turtle actually acting or did she just stumble in and ad lib as usual? She definitely tried to slip Adam Chance the tongue didn't she, the dirty bitch.

  • RelativeBadger.

You can watch any episode of Crossroads and you will never see any movement in the set's and that is a fact.

  • An audience of 18 million did not agree.

  • Who on Earth thought it was a good idea to bring back Amy Turtle !!!...honest to God they sack Noele Gordon,Ronald Allen,Sue Lloyd & Sue Hanson and bring back Amy !!

  • Amy Turtle was like some old woman they pulled off the street and told her to just chat along with the other cast members in this bit, LOL.

  • Amy Turtle, a legend

  • that was a scary programme. one scary shit programme!! as scary as shit!

  • god bless Amy Turtle!!

  • shit acting, shit backdrops and shit script - whoever wrote this crap obviously failed school.

  • @RelativeBadger Award winning set designers, script writers who in some cases worked on Doctor Who and other big budget dramas and some dodgy acting, but Terence Rigby was a well respected actor. Says more about YOU than the progamme. Having said that, its the kind of shit ITV would love more of these days, pulling in millions of viewers and making the company Millions in revenue a week. Thats a great failure!

  • @ATVNETWORKLIMITED Amy was the joke figure, I think that was the whole point. As for the sets. ATV certainly made some of the best sets on ITV at that time. (Clayhanger, Edward VII ect). And often the Crossroads ones were better than the other shows of that time. Some were bad (The reception was never great) but there were some awful basic nothing sets on Corrie, with wobbly stair cases and yes, wobbly acting too. And they had NO excuse as they only made 2 a week not the 4 Crossroads were doing.

  • @RelativeBadger In this case I agree about the script as by this time it was all being written by writers from the BBC's Archers soap, and overseen by William Smethurst who may have been one of the most successful drama producers at the BBC but clearly didn't rub off here. HAHAHA.

  • @RelativeBadger And went on to Grundy TV and created Neighbours, so maybe...LOL.

  • @CrossroadsFanClub Doctor Who, Coronation Street and The Archers writers, and Corrie and Dr Who directors. Set Designers from Sapphire and Steel, The Power Game and Henry VII... so yes probs. Either that or you think ATV only made this show and nothing else so are talking bullshit.

  • @RelativeBadger Dr Who, Coronation Stree and The Archers writers and directors. So quite probs.

  • @RelativeBadger Much better than the depressing crap there is on now...

  • wonderful memories of Amy Turtle - she did come back for a few episodes - Ann George you were a star

  • she still coodnt remember her lines

  • Where in real life do ignorant brummy scumbags own a hotel eh?????????????????

  • @BRUTUALTRUTH

Costa Del Sol I would think

  • @BRUTUALTRUTH

    Tenby.

  • I remember being shocked they mentioned Meg's death here.

  • Fabulously funny, as Crossroads did well. Nice to have a soap that didn't take itself too seriously unlike one or two others who just want to depress us all.

  • Wonderfull, but what was Amy wearing? A pair of curtains I fear

  • How long was Amy Turtle back for in 1987? Was it just a few episodes or did she return for a few months?

  • @Markjuk Supposed to be a semi-regular, but she only appeared a few times.

  • Blimey - were the endings always that random?

  • @fendweller Not a real episode, by the time she'd returned it had a new theme tune.

  • @CrossroadsFanClub Yes it should be noted this is not how the episode ended at all.

  • Adam "Did you like Texas?"

Amy "I dont mind where it is, Robin Hood cementary so long as its in Birmingham"

    Er....what?

  • This is Amy's return in 1987. Look at Jill's shoulder pads! When I originally saw this back in 1987 I was stunned at how little Ann George, Amy, had changed.

I'll never forget the day - I was eating my dinner and watching Crossroads on my black and white portable telly when Amy appeared. I had no idea she was coming back and almost choked on my savoury rice!

This is tremendous - thank you so much for uploading.

  • Ann George is my great aunt!!!!

    Legend, I miss her

  • @lawrea3 oh lucky you, she was a dragon in this series, but one of the great characters of soaps, i hope she's well, and doesn't Marlene from fools and horses look beautiful

  • I was watching some Crossroads DVDs with Amy in them,we all agreed she was great, shame she was dropped in 76 but at least she got to make a few guest appearances in 87!

  • What a show. Looking at it now, everything left a lot to be desired but it was the best thing since sliced bread. You would rush home from school or work to watch it. Fantastic!

  • Was it my imagination or did Amy Turtle try to get a snog off Adam?

  • I think you're right!

  • My father hated Amy Turtle's voice

  • This was 1987, Gabrielle Drake didn't come into the show until 1985.

  • "Well when you´re in hotel you´ve seen everything" ...

er what the fuck was that meant to mean!

    Mrs Overall!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Try working in a hotel.. then you'll know. I worked in one and the things you see! :) Though probably not as bad as what the police force see.

  • I guess that´s true but I was referring to her delivery, it is so stilted!!!!!! And they she refers to Richardson as "he" and the phrase "heart of gold" sounds out of place both times.

And the last line, " Well Mrs Richardson had bull like a fish wife if a seen so uch as a speck of dust in them chalets, got a heart of gold!

WHAT????? Was she always this incoherent in the series? I would love to see more of her if she was!!!! It is great to finally see the real inspiration of Mrs Overall!

  • Amy Turtle was famous for always mucking her lines up when she was originally in the series! Strange to see her here rubbing shoulders with the likes of Nicola Freeman - a strange hybrid of the old and the new! I liked Nicola Freeman, she just oozed class!

  • its the black country accent ..she said had a ball(shout) like a fish wife and also she say air {her meaning she} its another language

  • @ednaman She said "bawl" not "ball". Although it's funny the way she says "Ed" instead of "She'd"

  • Terence Rigby has died sadly

  • I think Amy mentioning Meg's death, was the first time it was addressed in the show,I think.

It was nice to see old characters returning, especially after the axing of my beloved Miss Diane, wasn't Gabrielle Drake really good as Nicola Freeman?

  • What an ace character! I know so many people like Amy in real life. There is a criminal lack of Brummie and Black Country accents on telly.

  • There's no lack of Brummies and Black Country criminals LOL

  • Mrs Over-all.lol

  • goosd to see old faces again...its 1987

  • Tommy brought the motel because he was there for a presentation or something and he owned The Red Ox chain (a chain of restaurants). He liked the Motel so he brought it.

  • "Is it 1975 or 1987?" you ask. Judging by Nicola's hair and Jill's shoulder pads I'd say 1987 (lol)! Lovely clip. I really like your end credits. I was glad when Amy returned.

  • I loved it when Amy made her brief return to the show! Thanks for the clip.

  • she made crossroads was fab

  • I can't remember how the manager (was it tommy bomber lancaster?) made it into Crossroads... How was that?

    Fun seeing Amy.
