The best tank today is the German Leopard tank. The Abrams is a German protoype as well. The 105 mm gun was a German design. It was eventually replaced with a 120mm main gun. Again German design. Germans had better fighter planes than allies ,but major problem German factory's faced was how to develop standardization in production of fighter planes. That was major setback in continues production of fighter planes.
For example ,British used very same engine (Rolls Royce Merlin) from Lancasters (Mosquitos ,Hurricanes) toward Spitfires (and even American Mustangs used same engine), while Germans had variety of engines for each fighter plane ->
-> Bf 109 used Mercedes engine ,Fw 190 used bmw engine (that was very unreliable and had to be fully restored after 5 or 6 sorties) ,Junkers 88 was powered by Jumo 211 engines ,Junkers 87 used Jumo 210 engines ,because there were shortage of DB 600 engines... Now imagine how much time and resources would be saved and how huge production would have been if they concentrated on only one engine (imagine availability of spare parts as well)..

You don't understand...German planes & tanks were superior up to 1943 ,but after that they are virtually equall with their counterparts. Spitfire MK IV was actually already at that stage superior to any Bf 109 model ,it was equal to Fw 190 ,but that plane never operated in numbers that could count. Further more ,mark V was already superior to Fw 190 and mark VII & mark VIII were at that stage by far more superior.
they were crushed in 1941 & 1942 due to Stalin lack of belief that Hitler would actually dare to go over non aggression agreement they had signed and invade Soviet union. Almost all Soviet better equipped troops were present at eastern Russia expecting attack from Japan..Anyway German fighters that were in eastern front were obsolete on west front ,but still Russians La-1 ,Yak-1 and Mig-3 were no match for them! La-5 ,Yak-7 proved to be match ,while Yak-9 variants were ->

As for tanks ,the main role of tank is to give mobility to troops and to support them with cannon fire. I agree Tiger I and Panther were overpowered and overarmored over any allied counterpart ,but they were hard to build (complicated) and they lack needed numbers to do be present where they were needed. On other hand ,allied more simple tanks could be spot almost everywhere ,and they fullfill their role perfectly. ->

There are so many varible to be accounted for in war, especially in a war this scale. Quantity counts, but that does not decide the outcome of a war by itself.
There were some very good and tough men in the US armed forces, namely the Rangers, the paratroopers. And not forgetting Gen George S Patton, a man who came to see that the German people were some of the best people on the planet, he said that they had fought the wrong side.

On the otherside, the German Army was remarkable when you consider the position they placed themselves in. The stragetic and tactical errors made by Hilter during the war placed the German Army at risk. They fought on despite the odds. They should have known the power and resources that the Allies had but they believed in their own superiority, both racially and intellectually the Germans thought they were stronger and smarter and better soldiers but they were not any better than other armed forces of the time, it was all in their minds.

i also admire the wehrmacht and its war machines but i think that there are more braver people than germans, like fins who fought against soviet union in winter war (part of ww2). The fins were baddly outnumbered by infantry 1:5, tanks 1:250 and in air and artillery 1:12. but still i think that germans and fins are bravest people on earth.

Germans had better fighter planes than allies ,but major problem German factory's faced was how to develop standardization in production of fighter planes. That was major setback in continues production of fighter planes.
For example ,British used very same engine (Rolls Royce Merlin) from Lancasters (Mosquitos ,Hurricanes) toward Spitfires (and even American Mustangs used same engine), while Germans had variety of engines for each fighter plane ->

Spitfire MK IV was actually already at that stage superior to any Bf 109 model ,it was equal to Fw 190 ,but that plane never operated in numbers that could count. Further more ,mark V was already superior to Fw 190 and mark VII & mark VIII were at that stage by far more superior.

As for tanks ,the main role of tank is to give mobility to troops and to support them with cannon fire. I agree Tiger I and Panther were overpowered and overarmored over any allied counterpart ,but they were hard to build (complicated) and they lack needed numbers to do be present where they were needed. On other hand ,allied more simple tanks could be spot almost everywhere ,and they fullfill their role perfectly. ->

@MeskovicZ Barbarossa, is that tactical and strategic skill down to the common officer, experience in the soldier, and advanced technology epitomized in the German Panther tank nad maybe the Tiger tank (which of course had numerous maintenance problem and yet at the same time, the kill ratio per tiger was 6 kills per tiger). There are so many varible to be accounted for in war, especially in a war this scale. Quantity counts, but that does not decide the outcome of a war by itself.

@9antsa6 Agreed. The Finns fought with pride and dignity. That part of WWII and that story has not been told. On the otherside, the German Army was remarkable when you consider the position they placed themselves in. The stragetic and tactical errors made by Hilter during the war placed the German Army at risk. They fought on despite the odds. With what the German Army had to fight with towards the ends was indeed remarkable. My hat is off to the Finnish Army and the German Army.

@bearsfan97 hitler said to his tank divisions to halt before dunkirk. if they had wanted to the germans could of slaughtered the BEF and encircled french troops. but they didnt because göring said he could destroy them with only the luftwaffe.
the tanks were halted for maintenance and refreshing troops.

Against overwhelming odds on the Eastern Front and the Western Front. They still fought. To protect their Fatherland, not for Hitler nor the Nazi Party. They fought ferociously even when outnumbered 10:1. I admire these men. No other soldier is as brave as them. Seelow Heights, they fought even against the unstoppable Russian advance. The Hochwald Gap, heavily outnumbered, they still put up ferocious resistance. Salute

As soon as Donitz declared the war lost on 8th of April the German resistance stopped.The Werewolf did very little,almost beyond worth mentioning.Why did the Landser fight so hard,and all of a sudden surrender ? I think fear of the invaders was a big motive.Fear from Goebells propagande-machine in the soldiers,panic to submit.

He brought as sense of pride to Germany in a time of high-inflation and bad reputation. He told the Germans that they are on top of the world and it was a great thing to hear during that time period. He is not an entirely evil guy for me.

@Awesomeduud I dislike people who put videos up and try to act like the Wehrmacht was just fighting for their families and country, they were mainly fighting for Hitler because he was the only reason Germany did not starve to death. He created the greatest military and stopped the worst depression.

Also, I agree that Hitler stopped depression. I bet you know that 100,000 marks was equivalent to $0.00000024 in 1923. but, what you say does make sense. They did have a reason to fight for Hitler.

@ppashi Off course its stupid to fight on two fronts if you have a choice which they had not. If you look on a map you`ll see that germany has a bad strategic position in europe and that problem was also present in the first world war. But i really like that you differentiate between Germans and Nazis which most ppl dont bother to do. ;)
