People don't understand that the Canadian health care system is VASTLY different from any form of American health care.Our health care in America is so expensive because its legal to promote drugs to patients. They have turned it into a business. Take care of yourselves and prevent disease.

A national health care plan is good.... if run by competent and non-politised people, in other words, everything that the US federal governement is NOT.
UK pays 8% GDP on healthcare via a national insurance (everyone pays same, no matter how ill you are), insures everyone, we live 3 years longer. Less heart disease, lower infant mortality etc... Even if you get a massively expensive spinal injury, or cancer.. you are covered, absolutely no question
USA pays 16% GDP (gov ironically paying 8% anyway, same as UK) 1/5 uninsured, dying younger.

I am living in Ireland and while our health system is far from perfect I have heard some horror stories about the health system in the US. It has a notorius reputation. Look up the World Health Organization statistics . The USA ranks 31st in quality of healthcare . We need socialised medicine like the 2 countries that have the worlds best Italy and France . UK pays 8% GDP on healthcare via a national insurance (everyone pays same, no matter how ill you are), insures everyone, we live 3 years longer. Less heart disease, lower infant mortality etc... Even if you get a massively expensive spinal injury, or cancer.. you are covered, absolutely no question
USA pays 16% GDP (gov ironically paying 8% anyway, same as UK) 1/5 uninsured, dying younger.

This is a great scare tactic. The health-care profession is one of the fastest growing in the nation. There are 2.9 million Registered and Licensed nurses and 3.1 is projected by 2016. The reason there is some wait time in Canada is because everyone is treated equally and everyone is in line. The American system is to cut all of the sick people from the roles, force people into the Emergency rooms and charge 400% more for care than in the rest of the industrialized world.

well in the UK we give real money to Job Seekers. We would also help you pay for rent in a council home, or you can go private and apply for housing benefit (where welfare sytem pays for your rent until you get a job)
we would than put you onto numerous schemes. They pay for your travel to interviews, help you with your CV, even pay for your suit. Youd get free training courses to help you with english maths etc...

For the last 24 years of her wonderful life she received full treatment-NOT ONCE was she ever denied treatment, as is the practice in the US. We have enough doctors,as long as they actually see patients and/or do surgeries,but some doctors who work at the hospitals either flirt with the staff or screw off.I seen at private hospitals where on staff doctors would be talking with all the nurses and staff instead of seeing the patients.

I cannot believe the level of greediness and selfishness we're showing over this issue. I would not mind paying a higher tax if necessary to help other individuals get health coverage, I would much rather put that money to good use and help our people than to continue to pump money on the war for oil. The war for oil (Iraq War) is something that I certainly do not approve. Of course, if we were more self-efficient we would not need to go through such measures to protect our interests.

Look up the World Health Organization statistics . The USA ranks 31st in quality of healthcare . We need socialised medicine like the 2 countries that have the worlds best Italy and France . There are plenty of doctors right now , with socialised medicine we would only need about a fouth of the current ER doctors because most uninsured people go to the ER for everything which actually makes it unsafe if you have a real emergency .
