OUTSTANDING SPEECH! Well-written, and well-presented.
Another TRUTH: Nowhere in the US Constitution does it give ANYONE the so-called "right" to terminate an innocent human life. Yet, that is what happens every time an abortion is done: A human life is terminated. How sad for us that we allow such a thing to happen. It...must...stop!
@edwardinkling I see your points, and I understand, but I am not at the time being going to expand on my opinions and beliefs in order to prevent the reoccurrence of what is primarily the same debate bringing up the same topics over and over. Your speech was well done and well delivered, and although I don't agree with you, you certainly are a good speaker.
He refuses to acknowledge the necessity for abortion in the cases of rape and in cases when a woman cannot possibly give a good life to her child, as well as cases in which the woman may have to deliver a child dead if there are developmental issues. I am not pro-abortion, but I do support the right of a woman to have that choice.
@hotpinkelephant11 You make a good point, and you're right: I didn't address that question at all. My speech was on the philosophical ideals which devalued the sanctity of life. But if I were to address your question, I'd say that the unborn is human, and thus has the right to life. The child cannot be blamed if conceived by rape, so why should it be punished? The child cannot be blamed for not having a good outlook on life either, so why should we remove its first privilege, namely, to live?
Good speech... But if it's planned out and memorized before hand... It's really nothing special. Try giving a 10 minute speech about philosophy while improvising every single word. Now THAT'S a talent that deserves to be rewarded.
@Stickynote74 So true! But this competition required me to write the speech prior to delivering it. I wasn't allowed to make changes once the contest began. Plus, I had to deliver it numerous times through many levels of competition, so having it memorized kept the continuity intact. I don't like to think of my speech as unspecial (big surprise!), but you're right that an improvised speech would have been much more impressive if it was equal in quality of content and delivery.
That was most assuredly the best speech I've ever heard. Very moving. Very powerful. Before I started watching it I said, "He got $1000 for a SPEECH?!" And NOW I know why...! WOW!
wow!!!! 8 inspired me on my oratorical contest tomorrow.... hope i'll win the contest.... GOD bless:)
