  • I agree, too much staccato, and slow down near the end. It's my B piece. I picked, Autumn, Kummer, and T-Rex.

  • @scumblejack sorry, I meant to say, A piece.

  • a bit to much staccato, when i done my grade one i didnt do it that heavy, still nice playing (:

  • Despite the grade 1 book not saying it is actually supposed to played staccato

  • it sounds so much better staccato though, don't any of you agree??

  • Im Playing this song WAHOO

  • it's not hard for grade 1?

  • @makeovergaluk this person is a piano teacher

  • I play this and I know that it isn't meant to be staccato because I play it! And it sounds bad like that but still well done you are obviously a talented player. What grade are you?

  • No offense, but is it supposed to be really staccato?

  • how many grades are there

  • 8....

  • im playing this song

  • me too

  • is it ment to be that jumpy? im doing my grade soon.

  • too much staccato

  • i'm teaching this to one my younger students - she's very talanted!! she is able to play just like this after 2 weeks!!!

  • isnt it too staccato??

  • basically you can play it anyway you want, as long as it has the correct rhythm, notes and phrasing. there is always contoversy over staccato or legato, especially pieces from baroque because those instruments did not have sustain ability. u can write to the royal schools and ask them personally, they are obligated to tell you whether to play legato or staccato :)

  • The Examiners DO NOT MIND if the piece is staccato or legato as long as it suits the piece your playing (eg. Your hardly going to play a sad, blues song with staccato are you?) A Certain Amount Of Musical Interpretation Is Ok. Hope this helps! :-)

  • I'm an old git trying to learn the pieces for Grade 1. One thing I will say is that the selection is fantastic -- I love all the pieces, African Dance far and away my favourite of the lot. Hope this continues into the higher grades.

  • @mantisrob african dance is hard :L for me anyways

  • woahhh, chill out on the staccato

  • tombrog, see baiba4 comment above

  • only 1 mistake that you have 2 play slower at the end

  • i wouldnt call that a mistake. The piece is metrical, and from the baroque period. Its not a requirement, merely how you interpret the music.

  • His dynamics were okay!! I would like to see the average grade oner put in a better performance! Remember this was written for a string orchestra, and their dynamics are usually no better.

  • um he's not a grade oner he's a teacher which means he's at least grade 8.

  • it was good but u had completely forgoten bout the dynamics

  • that was good im playing this peice at my school concert

  • exellentley played well done, but what happend to the dynamics???

  • I took my Grade 1 exam today. Thank you for your videos they have helped me a lot :)

  • what was your result :)

  • I think you played it well but you didn't put in the dynamics. I'm doing this for grade one, can you give me any advise?

  • It's almost like the one in the CD. But didn't hear ''p'' or even ''f''.

  • THAAAAANKS... from Italy... now i've learn to play this,

    you're a gooood pianist!

    Do other video ;)

    Thanks again..

  • Thanks for sharing this.

Was played note perfect!. However, did you observe the "F" (fortisimo) and "p", in this piece?, as it sounded (to me at least) all the same "velocity".

    Thanks

    Anthony

  • velocity is speed. so i'm guessing you meant volume and were trying to sound intelegent?

  • Well, I have a "Velocity" sensitive Electronic keyboard as well as a piano, and i meant that when you play the same "loudness", you use the same velocity (on keyboards that is)"!

""The piano responds to the force with which the keys are initially pressed by changing how hard or fast the hammers strike the strings, which in turn changes the tone and volume of the resulting note or chord; it is velocity sensitive"""

    Anthony

  • don't play this sticato it will sound really wierd i don't play it sticato

  • its not all stecato. way too plucky-no offense. i had my grade 1 exam today! woo!

  • may I ask why you have chosen to play the whole pice staccatto? ( i just need advise as am teaching this piece 2 my lil cousin) Any specific reason, i.e. because it is for string orchestra..plucking strings maybe?)

  • lol this is one of my exam peices in june mate my 3 are l'autunno, a song of erin and trudging
