  • I its hard for me to tell left from right. It's hard for me to stay on focus while I read. I mix up b's and d's. I also sometimes write letters and numbers backwards. Is this dyslexia?

  • You need to read the book "The gift of Dyslexia" to understand why dyslexia is a gift, there are certain abilities we have that most people do not have, for example some people with dyslexia are gifted with their hands and intuitively know how mechanical things work, some people can imagine how things work in 3d real time in their minds, much more in the book. just a sample of what I can remember from reading it, wonderful book, we can beat dyslexia :)

  • dyslexia is a curse and a cruel joke!!!! to have so much potential, then to have road blocks at every corner, to make damm well sure that you cannot suceed.... a cruel joke!!!

  • o.O awesome two others with dyslexia and dyspraxia (SP?)

  • how is dyslexia a gift

  • "I am dyslexic, which makes me different and i like it"....im happy to have something in common with special ppl such as, Mohamed Ali, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci and many more who accepted dyslexia and will always be remembered for their unique contributions in history.

  • I am dyslectic, I suffered in school, I scraped through school, I have huge problems writing this without making 40 spelling errors. (spellchecker)

I have MASSIVE problems remembering names. I am 22 years old, I have no engineering training but I can build a scale model jet engine out of scrap engine parts, no one showed me how. I always see the things other don't, I am HUGELY Talented and I will never trade this gift for anything in this world. My dyslexia will make me famous.

  • I was told in high school that I would never be able to go to a university of college because the courses I was taking weren't accepted there. I was really down on myself and felt I was so stupid because that's what the teachers said. They all said I was stupid and slow and didn't try hard enough. I got diagnosed in 2008/9 and auditioned for a university to study music. Now, after all those years of being made fun of by teachers/students I'm SO happy! Music is a gift that is HEARD. =)

  • I always found if I mention dyslexia in a job interview I never get the job and the staff doing the interview suddenly change there attitude and some Ive been told Im not fit for the job there and then!

I never get this problem if I never tell.

  • I am so stressed because of this dyslexia, i only found out a few months ago and im 40, my life is now so differant. I pray God has mercy on me.

  • i am dyslexic and i am in sixth grade and i found it out in 1st grade and i coudnt read till fourth grade rolls eyes and people thout i was the dumbest kid eva and still do now people in my old classes always tell these kids that i coudnt read till fourth grade and they now call me stupid to my face and i have to types of dyslexia one wre i see words backwords and i say words wrong all the time but i am the best drawer in my class tho :) and i dont care wat people think!

  • I am dyslexic ( and dyspraxic ) and I LOVE my dyslexia. I would not change it for anything.

  • @sugarkaneandchloe me too :) <3

  • Why is your life different and how? What has this one word changed? Surely you have exactly the same abilities and difficulties as before? Knowing what it is called makes no difference at all. If you want help with it the look on the website for The British Dyslexic Assossiation. Loads you can do.

  • I try to tern my disabiltiy into an abiltiy, I've found ways to cope, I play in a band, just about to record an album.

I don't see dyslexia as a disabilty much now, more of an advantage. The disabilitie gives me advantages in music. Therefor I'm almost happy I have it :)

  • @tommybobing That's so awesome! Same with me :) Glad you're seeing the positive sides to dyslexia!!

  • how is dyslexia a gift i have dyslexia its a disadvantage in so many ways if i tell people your dyslexic they look down on you and talk to you like child.

  • I know how you feel I also have dyslexia but its only a disadvantage if you let it hold you back... Just remember we know more about space then we do the human brain... My Dyslexia is based on hearing if someone talks to me I don't remember a single word but visually I remember everything... Don't let people put you down.

  • I know how you feel, I was forced to resign from a career as a police officer because of it, and that was only a few days ago. I am so stressed and no one understands truly unless they have experienced it

  • You could sue for unfair dismissal. That's not legal.

  • @hollard123 i now dont tell any one that i am the only people who know who are my mum an dad an my girl friend an like 3 people in school an soon as you tell some one u are looked at like ur 5 an you dont do any right an ye just want to get out of there ! am 14 15 tomorrow i hope i was dead!

  • @hollard123

Then the people you speak to are idiots , and arrogant . Taking the time and trouble to educate and humiliate in equal measure should be your goal .

I'm Dyslexic and have Dyspraxia as well . Videos like this help people to understand there are other ways to learn , and express themselves

  • ^ That's because they are assuming they understand you. Dyslexia is a gift if you learn to use it. I if you were given a fast ports car and wanted to drive fast in it or drive it at all; you would have to learn how to drive it :) I'm Dyslexic too and I wouldn't change a thing

Prejudging is a common, negative, act, a lot of people do. You have to learn to not let it get to you; rather think of it this way: you know something they don't...that dyslexia actually can be an advantage.

  • Dyslexia is a gift as well as a disadvantage

take for exsample many of the famous people

    and the disadvanges many

  • Dyslexia a Gift?

  • I don't care what any one says! If you tell people your dyslexic them people act as if your mentally retarded!

I can remember in 3 job interviews that were going well. The second i told them i was dyslexic the interview promptly ended! one said we don't want some with Dyslexia!

  • I feel sorry for you. you should not be discriminated by retarded managers who blur everything together.

so long it does not involve reading lol.

  • i am sorry i have dyslexia too and i know it hurts soooo much and i am onely in sixth grade and people always call me stupid and dumb cus i coudnt read till 4th grade ( rolls eyes ) and the teacher always sends me for extra help and people just stare at me when i come back in its not a gift and it is a disivantige!

  • The thing is your most probably a lot more intelligent than the majority of people without dyslexia, and people affected should be reminded of this more often. Ofcoure i know the pressures of acedimia can weigh you down and it can be hard to find what you truly excell in, but once that happens its a path to sucess. Theres soooo many sucessful and influential dyslexic people.

If your wernt dyslexic the way your mind works would be different. You wouldent be you.

  • @EbsNhexz thank you so mutch for this coment, i've had a hard day of spending 5 hours reding 3 pages of academic uni tet and i feel styupid but you have reminded me why i'm hera becose i have a above average iteligetce and i can prove to the world tat i can acive dispit being desleic.
