Instead of that single wall pipe section, you should have used a length of Duravent 8847 telescoping double wall pipe, or DuraVent 8887 adjustable double wall extension, but what you got set up will work.
I'm going to be installing a small woodburner towards the center of my workshop, which is 26'x26' with 12' ceiling (just framed out). The inside of the room is framed 2x4 ceiling is also. The roof rafters are 2x6.I know I have to put a ridge box,,do I also put the box in the 2x4 ceiling frame?? Then between the 2 boxes, I guess double wall pipe would be recommended?
@ucfsub If you mean at the top it is a 12inch single wall with a ring that locks in to the colar on the bottom of the box . then slide the double wall over it. So I guess it is only sing wall at top bellow the collar. with about 4 to 5 inches esposed but plenty of air space..... so its not a bid deal.... thanks for asking.
@shock277 Thanks for the response, I am planning my own install but I don't have the benefit of the loft like you, I need to find a double wall slip connector, but everything I see is all single wall.
I just want to add that, even though it looks close it has 8 inches from back of pipe to the wall. Also by adding a concrete backer board that I am going to put ceramic tile on and leave a 2" air gap behind it will provide a heat shield to protect the wall. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any other comments.
@shock277 Great DIY dude! I have pot belly that's too close to the wall and I used strips of sheetrock to make an air gap which vents from bottom to top behind a backer and stone veneer. It works great.
As mentioned, clearances to combustibles!!!! Double wall has a minimum clearance of 6" to combustibles, and simply putting up durock will not negate that distance to combustible framing behind it. Who knows what the stove back clearance requirement is, but I bet it's no less than 5" required. If you have a fire resulting from this setup, be warned that your insurance will not cover you due to improper installation!!!
I hope you put some fireproofing board (durock) behind the stove and the floor, the tile on the floor is not suffiecent. I would not light that till your put those two things in!

Are your back side clearances for that stove OK?
