  • hey there, i was just thinking about buying one of these helis as a beginner heli but i was just wondering if it was a 3D heli i.e( can it be flown upside down) as i would like to try and learn to do that if this is a 3D heli. thanks. :)

  • Hey Matey. I'd never attempted to get mine into a sustained inverted hover, I did try to loop it once which resulted in a passable loop. The newer Neon V2 2.4Ghz is a little more upgraded & powerful from memory so might be better for that type of flying. However in all honesty if you're wanting to learn 3D I'd suggest a 450 size model, CenturyUK have a couple of good ones in their range now as do other makers to. This size will be much more useable to learn things with....

  • but will still be cheap to repair if it all goes wrong. If you have any other questions please just ask. Ian

  • I just received one today from my dad as a present and it's superb! A bit hard to fly, I must say, but this is because I have been flying a coax Lama V4 for the last few months, that being my first heli. The Neon Blaze was recommended by the shop we buy from to be the next step up from a coax helicopter. ANYWAY back to your actual question, its 3D! So maybe buy it as a beginner, although I'd recommend a coax helicopter as a first (more stable + easier to fly). Happy flying and merry christmas :)

  • replace the servos with jp 7.5. alloy upgrade main rotor is gash as rotor arm link breaks off were its connected to yhe shaft. untill they sort it i will be rolling with upgraded alloy swashplate and standard rotorhead but had to get longer rods for my linkages as they were to small. i like this heli coz the only probs seem to be cheap servos and on take off it pitches. which i can handle. avoid the alloy rotorhead untill they revise it. slalomflex check the flybar tracking n tail motor

  • Hey. Most alloy rotor heads for the smaller models are not really worht having due to not surviving too well in any crashes. They look great but bend easily. I have now sold this Blaze, but I did get it dialled in nicely before I did so by limiting the throws on the transmitter and it felt much nicer and less twitchy. Ian

  • hi there,is the blaze a good beginners heli, nice flying by the way

  • Hey Matey. I would say yes in all honesty, the newer 2.4ghz version has made some worthwhile changes which help make the model better over the V1 I have. The tail motor is bigger to ensure better life span and the head has changed ot make it a little less twitchy I think. It is of course not as good as a proper tail rotored model, which can be limiting later down the line but work ok. If you have any more questions just ask. Ian

  • Hi There, just took my neon blaze out for the first time ater a crash. It was perfect before the crash but now it is jumping about everywhere, The blades are not out of balance or anything like that, it is acting just as if I am applying the throttle and taking it off very quickly as it is jumping up and down something stupid, Any help would be appreciated,Thanks.

    John.

  • Hi John. Oooh, sorry to hear you had a crash with the model. From what you haev said I'd be inclined to suggest a duff servo perhaps caused by the crash, either that or one with a tooth missing from it's gear train. The above could make one of the servo's jump about & inturn add pitch when not needed, more than likely on one side point of the swashplate which will give an odd input. If you can secure it down &/or spool the model up without the main blades you may see which one's playing up.

  • Let me know what you find and we'll go from there. Ian

  • NeonBlaze is a name i made up....not for this but...they jacked my name neon blaze...i dont beleive it...y?

  • LOL ;-)

  • had mine a week now with a few problems,my first hover went fine ,but being a novice flyer i didnt notice 2 fauly servos on the main blades, so when i tilted it a little the heli rolled and took out the second set of blades, went back to where i bought it from and they supplied me with 2 new servos(foc). they were very shocked to find 2 faulty servos. and it wasnt stripped gears just not working , any way it all back together and all seems fine

  • Hey. Ah I'm sorry to hear of your problems my friend, but glad to hear they are all sorted out now. The only servo issue I have seen is where one of the servo leads was trapped between the carbon frames, this was leading to interference on this model. Keep at it and you'll soon master flying RC models. Let me know how you get on. Ian

  • Nice flying! I got mine yesterday. Was trying to hover and like oneredpanther, i was struggling to keep it in one place, lots of side slip and trims are right over. Not sure about the PIT & PLT yet either. Sadly I hit a bush and the blades went through the tail boom so am waiting on a part :(

  • Hello. Thanks for the compliment on the flying matey. I have get more stick time on mine and love it & crashed it twice messing around. Broke a skid the first time, well bent it then broke it straightening it. The second it fell to the floor flat after I flew it round a tree some distance away, broke the canopy. You'll get it fixed soon. The PLT trim knobs can be used to increase the pitch range, I have found you dont need much & I am running too much at the moment. Ian

  • i am trying to figure out if the blade balance is out but the manual is so vague on how to set up and how it should be. Any ideas? Have backed the PLT right back to 7 oclock and thats helped.

  • Hey. If the main blade balance is out it will show as an up & down vibration on the tail rotor. The manual isn't to detailed, but basically you need enough pitch to hover & climb with. If you have too much you can hear the motor loading in a vertical climb, a little load is good but not too much. I just eyeball mine, hence the need to back it off slightly but thats good enough. Ian

  • i've ruined it now, i flattened them out and now the thing generates no lift!

  • Oooh, what have you flattened the pitch of the blades? If so thats why you wont have any lift, you will need about -1~2 degress of pitch at bottom stick to come down, 3~4 degrees of pitch to hover and 7~8 at max power to climb. Or do you mean the LiPo battery you have flattened? Ian

  • Exactly, I killed the pitch so even with the PLT knob in the middle i get no lift.

  • Hey. To make adjustments to the pitch (PLT) knob you need to move the dip switch on the back of the transmitter. Then once adjusted flick this dip switch back to lock the PLT knob for making any further adjustments. To add pitch look at the blade end on (Isuggest disconnecting both motor plugs first) then adjust the PLT knob till the leading edge of the blade rises by 5~6 degree's and try flying the model. Ian

  • have blaze to, first helicopter. managed a few flight, starting to get nack, but like u say to much throw, and caught me out. nasty spank into ground, fixed but now have bad shake wen bout foot off ground. and ideas? mainshaft straight, new blades on and looks straight, but unflyable. part from that puka heli wen u think of price

  • Hey. The cyclic feel is easy to fix, try mounting the paddles in the front most hole. Vibrations can be through many things, the most common is something out of balance that is spinning, check the balance of the main rotor blades. Add some coloured tape to the lighter blade to make the assembly hang level. Another thing to check is the "Main Blade Shaft". If this is bent then that can cause problems with vibes. Check that the flybar itself is centered correctly as well. Ian

  • nice one, will have a look and give it a test fly. blades r balanced, so thats one thing ruled out

  • Finally! I was beginning to feel like I was the only other person in the world to have a Neon Blaze. Interesting to hear your comments about it being 'lively' since I'm having a horrendous time trying to hover it; it just doesn't want to stay in the same place and inputs seem a bit all-or-nothing cyclic-wise. Rudder authority seems exceptionally sloppy too, maybe mine's not set up correctly! Looking forward to more videos of the blaze.

  • Hi. Yes, I only got mine 2 days before I shot the video.

About the twitchyness try moving the paddles mounting the the frontmost hole position, this should tame the model down nicely.

The tail I have found to be quite good, will know more when I fly it outside.

As soon as I can I will post an outdoor video as well.
