@mariomario678910 In just about every way... It's disgusting, disturbing, dark and has subject matter that would be far too intense for a younger viewer. Most of the jokes are geared toward adults who grew up on the old Looney Tunes cartoons. I wouldn't let my kids watch it. But when they're older, most definitely.
Yeah, i've bene holding off on Grindhouse in the hope they might release a deluxe edition that includes all the bogus trailers from the theatrical showings. But it doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon, so I'll likely just grab the Blu-rays at some point.
Dr. Strangelove is great! A hilarious satire of cold war paranoia in the 60's. Peter Sellers is a riot, playing no less than 3 of the major characters. George C. Scott and Slim Pickens are hilarious in it too.
If you have a region free DVD player, you can get, from Japan, a 6 disc boxed set that includes both director's cuts of Planet Terror and Death Proof and the full uncut version of the theatrical version of Grindhouse. If I had a region free player, I'd grab that mofo in an instant even thought I haven't seen any of the films.
Well, it would be hard to top the Criterion edition. 3 discs, loaded with extras, and both versions of the movie! The only part about that that is annoying to me is...I don't own it yet! ;)
also if you like british comedy -try all the stuff from Chris Morris. Greatest british comedian of all tim in my view - brass eye, jam, day today, nathan barley
I really need to pick it up asap! I'm sure they'll release an evening trilogy box within a year or two...but a good edition of Jersey Girl is nowhere to be seen?!
awsome collection dude, have you seen Reservoir Dogs now? I would like to have that Sin City dvd of yours, got two other editions of it, but ive never seen that one.
I know...I have the Jay and Silent Bob episodes, but haven't picked up any of the Degrassi seasons yet (old or new). One of these days I'll add the whole collection to my "teen angst" section.
If your a real film fan, you need to get the ultimate edition of the films because the bonus material is very interesting. I can sit down and watch the behind the scenes over and over again.
And my dream job is to be a film director/producer/screenwriter so i get much wiser by watching the bonus material.
do u know what bloody gir is? hes a hidden picture in the invader zim dvds. the episode "Mortos Der Soulstealer" has the easiest one in there. hes in the invader zim title sequence. look 4 a faint picture of gir covered in blood. they r hidden all over the show in bad bad rubber piggy, tak: the hideous new girl etc. P.S: the figures only stay on the screen 4 one frame. so freeze ur dvd with the pause button when u look 4 him. they r really faint so look carefully. if ur interested, happy hunting
hey hav u ever heard of a family guy set called "the Freakin' Sweet Party Pack"? it had all six volumes of family guy, volume one of american dad, collectable family guy game items, and (the best part) A BONUS DISK with DELETED SCENES AND CLIPS FROM FUTURE EPISODES,
AND A SNEAK PEEK OF THE DECEMBER 2009 family guy star wars parody "SOMETHING, SOMETHING, SOMETHING DARK SIDE (actual title).
P.S. its the BEST family guy deluxe set that there is!:) if u dont hav FG vol.6, get the deluxe set!
Nice! I've seen that one around, it's actually a re-release of the Party Pack from last year, but updated with the new volume and bonus disc (and some different party items, iirc) Definitely a great set, I actually didn't know about the bonus disc. But as cool as that sounds, I cant' really justify re-purchasing everything just to have the set. (I got Volume 6 a while ago, covered in one of my recent DVD updates)
Speaking of "Something, Something, Something Dark Side" there's actually an Easter Egg on the Blue Harvest DVD, in which you can see part of the initial table read for it. It was the first clue we got that they were doing a parody of Empire. :)
Looks like you answered your own question. :) Yeah, it was a strange show - at first glance a kid's show, but loaded with gags, gross out humor and innuendo that only adults would really get. John K played Ren (and numerous other characters) during the first two seasons. Then he had a falling out with Nickelodeon, who wanted to tone the show down. He refused to compromise and quit the show. Nick continued making it for 3 more seasons, with Billy West taking over John K's roles.
Most fans are split on the post-John K episodes, as they weren't as "edgy" (or funny) as the earlier shows. That's the main reason I only have that set, actually. There's also the "Lost Episodes" set which contains several more episodes that were made (I think) years later, once again with John K's involvement. Those ones aired on Spike, and apparently take everything to a whole new level of "innapropriate for children." :D
i didnt know there was a collectors edition 4 volume 4 or blue harvest. is ur ren and
stimpy dvd the adult party cartoon series or just the first 2 seasons of the nickelodeon show? did u know they hav a limited edition collctors set for family guy volume 5? it has limited edition art cards and storyboard cards.
The Volume 4 Collector's Edition was a future Shop/Best Buy exclusive. I've seen the Volume 5 one around, but didn't get it because of the packaging that was COMPLETELY unlike any of the regular sets. My main thing is bonus discs anyway. Art cards are nice to have, but I'd prefer to have more deleted scenes and stuff (which is what the Volume 4 set had, plus the art cards). And yes, the R&S set is the first 2 Nick seasons, from when John K was still with the show (before Nick lobotomized it)
I'll take that as the compliment I'm sure it was MEANT to be. ;) Yeah, both my brother and I were big John Candy fans growing up, so maybe he did play some part in my mannerisms. Who knows?
I Just got done watching resirvior dogs mins ago before watching this. I recomend it excuse me but i was a BITCH to find were i live so i had to drive far away to get it...two days ago i found it at walmart blueray for just ten dollars 15th aniversiry addition i recomend u get it.
Nope, that's the one I still don't have. I also need to get the Evening with Kevin Smith ones. They just put out a third one of those too, I should really get caught up.
Well, to exclude TV box sets would exclude a good chunk of my collection. So, including them I have roughly 600 individual titles. I only have 3 BluRays at the moment (Annetta has 5), but that will be increasing shortly.
Thanks! Oh, and the Dead Space animated movie is already out - we just bought the BluRay. :D It's awesome. Probably the goriest cartoon I've ever seen.
It is! Seems to be a lot of "one season wonders" out there that just never got a fair chance (I also recommend Mission Hill, Undergrads and Clone High if you haven't seen 'em already). See if you can track down the book The Oblongs was based on! It's hilarious and morbid. :)
Not yet, though I notice the Mike Judge collection of 'em recently dropped in price! The main reason I haven't got those yet is because the little woman can't stand them... I suspect she hasn't seen much of them and is going by what other people have said. But I shall turn her to the dark side, rest assured. I know she'll love it once she actually sits down and watches a few, she's got pretty much the same sense of humor as me! :)
Awesome collection although you are missing a few Robert Rodreguez films. From Dusk Till Dawn being one, The Faculty is another and not forgetting 300. Maybe you didn't like those, I don't know. I also liked the fact that you hhave to big box of Blue Harvest. Just pretty pissed off that it only plays to Reg 1. I'm in Reg 2. Good old England. I think I need to build my collection a bit more but thanks for sharing your awesome epicness.
Actually, From Dusk Till Dawn is one of the titles I still have on Laserdisc (I've got the deluxe LD with all the extras and noe of the few times Quentin Tarantino has participated in a running commentary!) I know it's on DVD, just haven't got around to replacing it yet. 300 we're getting on BluRay, and I didn't actually know The Faculty was one of his! Cool, I'll have to pick it up. :)
I would have also suggested the Spy Kids Trilogy and Shark Boy and Lava Girl 3D but they're more kids films so I thought you wouldn't be interested. They're all Robert anyway. By the way... I met him.
You lucky bum! I was drooling when I watched the tour of his home studio on the Once Upon a time in Mexico set... MAN, he's got a sweet setup! I'll probably grab his kiddie movies at some point, just for completeness. And I'm sure my daughter will love 'em when she's a bit older!
your collection is amazing! You have alot of nice things. And from what I have seen you have a simillar taste to mine, and I really like some of the movies you say you like. Keep doing these videos.
"The Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition" It has 2 DVDs and a CD, including all the special features from the previous special editions and some new stuff.
Lucky bum! That's a great set. I don't remember what we paid for it, but I know it wasn't 20 bucks...hehehe
Make sure you get the "Return of the Pink Panther" single disc as well, since it's the only one of the original movies NOT included in the black collection (it was released by a company other than MGM, but is most DEFINITELY part of the series)
if you like comedies get "fletch" its awesome.also on a side note if you like british comedy i recommend "black adder" if you dont have it already...p.s i love kids in the hall.my fave off the top of my head was bruce mccollough doing the "my pen" skit. awesome!
"My pen! My pen!!!" That's one of my all-time faves of theirs too. :)
I've seen precisely ONE episode of Black Adder, and knew that I had to own it and fest my way through the rest of it. It's on the must-buy list, once I find it for a reasonable price.
I've seen Fletch, but a looooooooong time ago and barely remember it. I see a new Special Edition came out recently, perhaps time for a re-viewing! There's a sequel too... Chevy Chase is awesome. We've been watching his old SNL days.
I have a lot of that Python stuff as well. Haven't bought the series yet, cuz, well, I just haven't made the investment, but probably will some day. I also don't have Life of Brian, cuz, well, I'm a little conflicted about that one.
I pretty much grew up with Monty Python, so it was inevitable their complete works would find their way into my collection at some point. :)
Ah yes, The age-old controversy about The Life of Brian. It's interesting, I have quite a few Christian friends, who also happen to be Python fans, and that's the ONE work of theirs that they are firmly divided on. Subject for a future video, methinks! :)
OMG!! the dvd lens cleaner disc!! That's like my all time favorite movie!! Its so much fun to wacth that.. (and in case someone didn't get it, IM JOKING) :DD but oh boy, you have so awesome collection!!
Yep, I'm already planning to do a bunch of stuff along those lines. This series is just the "overview" of my collection. I'll be picking specific titles/sets a little later and doing in depth reviews/rants about them.
One recommendation, though it'll probably be hard to find. If you can (and haven't done so already), try to get your hands on Pentagon Wars. Great movie.
Awesome, so I think you and me are the TWO people who saw and appreciated Timecode...hehehe.
I like the sound of Russian Ark, I'll have to check that out. Oldboy (and its sequels) have bene on my must see list forever, just haven't got around ot it yet. And the last one sounds good too, I love me some dark comedy. :)

Hm, I haven't any footage of him while I do like a bunch of his movies.

why don't you pick a dvd and then talk about it at length thus making that special edition plus your thoughts the ultimate edition.

I'll have to look into that one, thanks!

DULE! :D
Props for Timecode and RLR. Here's some recommendations for you:
Russian Ark - An entire film... IN ONE TAKE! It also takes you through a magical journey of Russia's history.
Old Boy - The greatest revenge film of all time and the finest of modern Korean cinema.
The Happiness of the Katakuras - One of the greatest Japanese dark comedies.

Thanks for the recommendations!
