  • why u would patch this? go write a keygen or somethign

  • thanks for this , good tutorial for a newbie

  • URL given in description is password protected? Can you upload the file somewhere else?

  • why does it say patched.exe is not a valid win 32 application for me while saving and running it....i did everything said in the video but i cant open it

  • worked flaweless, thanks!

  • lets crack ollie shadow!! :D

  • if this is a tut on how to edit an exe and see the vb codes then i'm happy :)

  • are you fapping?

  • Looking for strings is definitely a beginner step. However it is widely used for reversing games. As for nag screens in most cases when you see one the program has already determined the illegal operation/error then the nag is pushed. So by just bypassing the nag you really have done nothing but removed or jumped the APi for the message. This is a common mistake by beginners.

  • One of the lowest levels of code? What's another one? Assembly is the lowest, one step up from machine code.

  • @Labyrnthdom Didn't you just say machine CODE? So that would make assembly the second lowest, right? :-)

  • THE BEST TUT EVER (y)

    thanks alot :D

  • If you apply this to real applications then your application will still be unregistered. The main goal for this crackme is finding the serial for it, which is actually 1/2 lines above the Error! string.

If you want to see how you could make a real application fully registered by simply changing all the trial/unregisterd text check out this video I made.

    [youtube.com/watch?v=qKNl6q-opxo]

But this is a good video tut for beginners. So keep up the good work!

  • @IxEDiTiONxI

Also I would like to say, this method could be done if you want to remove any nag screens and stuff like that. Let's say if there is a nag screen that shows you this trial will expire in 30 days or something then why not finding the place where it is located and try to change it so it'll never expire.

  • Are you whacking it?

  • When i searh for "all referenced text strings" it says: Unable to read memory of debugged process :( (I'm not using your crackme)

  • Thanks alot!

  • you could hook lstrcmpiA and return 0

since it checks the return before the if statement.

  • reverse engineering is REVERSING something logically. You said the definition of reverse engineering is an application of reverse engineering. Reverse engineering can allow you to do malicious or good acts. It isn't 1 dimensional.

  • IDA Pro is bettr

  • nevermind! found OllyDbg 2.0 which works with W7 64 bit for those who have this problem

  • i tried using ollydbg but i get an error whenever i search for the all reference text strings. it says "Unable to read memory of debugged process (771F0000...772C5FFF)."

any solutions to this or another program that works like ollydbg?

  • When I try to search of referenced text strings I get an error: "Unable to read memory of debugged process. (77410000..774E5FFF)."

  • I need help cracking friends programm made in c# @ visual studio 8 .. i cant get any text by searching it with ollydbg :( , i tryed many ways but no success, please give me some advise.. PM me

  • What is the name of the other app? Dv Bug or ollie ice?

  • I used Ollie Shadow

  • that is what I had thought but it was hard to hear. Thanks man.

  • AHAHHAHAH dom

  • Haha. I've reversed for years. Been programming since I was 10.

When I saw this tut, I just had to check out the crack me before I watched the video.

It was a piece of cake xD

Though, I thought the video would show hwo to get the serial. But whatever. It works :P

Maybe I should make some Reverse Code Engineering tuts too.

  • Then make a video about your skills?

  • Troll.

  • you could just simply edit the reg and do it simplier

    (its not noob friendly)

  • yeah like what happens if you DONT find the keywords?

    i'm guessing its encrypted?

  • thanks worked perfectly!!

  • wow thanks lol

  • you got any tuts for noobs that

are learning Reverse engineering ? like this but

    explain and stuff

  • well what happens when you cant find keywords in text strings? does the app have security embedded in it or something?

  • Thanks a lot!

Helped me out. :D looking forward for your future tuts.

  • useful video, JE = jump if equal to.

you could make it JNE/JNZ meaning jump if not equal to also

  • but if they do put it the right serial its going to bring up the badboy, so i f u make it JMP it will be successful no matter what.

  • yeh good point but if you have the right serial theres no need to do this :P

  • that's the whole point.

  • Great video man I'm curious if this is possible with dll files

  • more than likely not dll are just for a specific .exe program meaning without the specified program it's almost impossible

  • Yeah I agree, patching is the last option. How can you know that there is even any more functionality in what you have removed? If you cracked software like this you might get registered messages to appear but not actually have registered software.

  • thx, i needed a tutorial like that :)

  • put a breakpoint on: 004010FC

now press F9, enter a serial in the progam now check the serial, you hit the breakpoint go and look at 004010F2 there is your serial.

patching is a last option never try to do it unless you really can't do anything else

  • hahaha, very similar to my tutorial.

  • have have a problem with olly when i press F9 to run it crashes :(

  • Ah, try compiling it instead, the way I do it in the video (with the Save part), it should run that way! :)

  • Hi guys.. I'm looking for an expert. I have 1 IC which i need to crack. i'll need a reverse engineer to do that for me. PLEASE MESSAGE ME IF YOU CAN HELP. I'LL PAY FOR THAT.

  • you rock

  • thx dude

  • gr8 work thnx

  • thanks dude, that was really helpful :)
