  • @legosluigi HI I used a seuthe smoke generator no 22 or 27 see replies above yours for more details.

  • where can you buy the steam gen and how much?:) thanks

  • @FlyingScottieX Hi Thanks for the interest, Seuthe No 22 or 27 smoke generator most hobby shops will have it such as Bromsgrove models DCC Concepts Digitrains DCC supplies etc.

  • hello there lovely loco! just wondering who makes this sound chip?

  • @tich4472 Hi It is a loksound 3.5 with DCC Concepts sound filed added.

  • Nice mate! This is part of the "Pete Waterman" collection from Hornby right?

  • @bluecoatscheesypoofs Hi I built this about 2 years ago so afraid not from Petes collection. Thanks for the interest. Cheers

  • @bluecoatscheesypoofs Hi Afraid not, this video is over 2 years old well before Hornby released the "Pete Waterman" collection.

  • Incredibly nice model :|

  • @TheMaPHEW Thank you glad you liked it and it interested you. Cheers

  • Great vid & Great loco. The 5's are my fav. Nice touch with the firebox effect. One thing i have to say i didn't hear that kind of 'Screech' of the breaks being applied as you stopped the train.

  • Hi Irish!

The seuthe smoke generator, is that supplied by DCC concepts?

Also, the wheel spin. How did you work that? Is it a speed curve setting, or do you just give the locomotive full power to start, then turn the speed knob down again?

To sound like a broken record, fanatstic job!

    Regards

  • That is Excellent! Lovely loco! :)

  • Can you do a vid of how to put those lights on coz im getting a bachmann tornado and i want two white lamps. One on each side just above the buffers so can you make a vid showing how to install them onto any loco and ill figure it out. Thanks

  • Hi, Fantastic loco! Just wondering, do you think it is possible to scratch build smoke generators for steam or diesel locomotives? and how did you program the cab desk lights in your class 20 to work in sequence with the engine start up?

  • @colinspendelow Hi yes you can build them, I wont say it is easy but you can do it. Now your taking me back ahh I think it was a timer linked to F1, I knew how long the start sequence was and set it accordingly. I'm going to do another soonish as I want to try Zimo sound decoders out. Cheers

  • Hi there what is that contraption called that the train is on I want one and can't find one anywhere. Cheers David

  • @djrobod Hi It is called a rolling road. DCC Concepts manufacturer and excellent one which suits 6 different gauges. I have 2 of them so I can put the big US locos up on it. Available in most hobby shops. Cheers

  • @Irish982 Cheers I have found one on Hornby's website.

    Thanks again.

    David.

  • hi they could u tell me how much these ae plese cheers

  • @MrTllr Hi I believe they are between 150-200GBP in the shops, thats for the loco with sound. Good idea to shop around. Try Hattons Trains and Railways Bromsgrove models etc. I built this before Hornby came out with sound and added the lights and smoke. Thanks for looking.

  • I'm just curious...

I understand the smoke generators, but why do you install your own digital sound aswell, when Hornby already makes the black 5 with digital sound??

  • In my opinion I do it far better and this was built well before Hornby released their Black 5. All the sound locos you see here have being out before Hornby started releasing their versions. I still encourage people to get their from Hornby, saves me building them. Hope that answers the question. Thanks for looking.

  • Oh. thanks...

  • Um, may I ask, how would somebody go about adding "Firebox Flicker"? It deeply interest me! What did you use to do it?

  • Hi

I used 1 LED which I tinted orangeish and put 1k resistor in series with the green wire. Green(-) and blue(+) are wired to the LED which is polarity sensitive. I drilled a 2mm hole in the firebox and glued the LED in place behind it. Make sure you have the clearance and the motor does not hit the led. I also changed CV 115 to 95 for firebox flicker on the loksound. Hope that helps.

  • @Irish982 Oh thank you! Very Helpful indeed! :D

  • Hello, could I get something like that, but with out the smoke generator on your website?

  • Hi

Thanks for the interest. Im not sure id you know but Hornby have released a Black 5 with sound for about 160-180 GBP depending on where you get it from. A far cheaper option.

  • How much would you charge to do something similar with a GWR Pannier?

  • hi

    great video 5*

can u buy this loco from a model dealer or did u put the smoke and lights in separately?

i think im gonna have a big task ahead of me 2 fit all my locos with DCC chips.

  • Hi

Not as hard as you think....give it a go, do plenty of research and you never know you might really find yourself enjoying decoder installs. I installed the lights/smoke sound etc myself. Thanks for looking.

  • How does the Smoke/Steam Work..?

Is this train part of the livesteam collection

  • Hi

    Thanks for the interest.

No it is not live steam. It is DCC and it has a smoke generator in it which is controlled by a dcc chip. The smoke generator is a resistive circuit, which gets hots and turns the oil you add to smoke.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thx mate..!

  • Coal looks better quality than in 1968!

  • Ha, I will take your word for it, I was not even a twinkle in my parents eyes then.

    Cheers

  • did you add on the lights and things or did you buy it all as one train if you added them on good job

  • Hi

I added the lights and sound myself. The new owner asked for an extra light which I added. Thanks for looking.

  • First Class Job you have done there again, wish I had`nt spent up last week, I would have liked that one.

  • Luck of the draw as the say. You still got a great loco.

    Cheers
