Flamenco's backbone is right hand technique, without right hand flamenco technique its just classical spanish guitar, Hes not doing any real right hand technique so yeah its not really flamenco at all but hes not trying to do it for real hes just experimenting so whatever

Gilbert does have an abnormally long pinkie, but even still the speed and accuracy of those wide, one-string intervals never cease to amaze me. It may be a prerequisite for shredders to pull those off, but no one seems to do it as effortlessly as he does. Even Kotzen can't do them as well, which isn't meant to be an over-comparison between the two, but they are both fond of those wide intervals: more so than Satch or, especially, Vai, for instance.

sounds cool, i cal this modern Flamenco, i do it all the time, basically its the same but with out been isolated to traditional positions etc.

It's somewhat similar to a Rumba (a style/form of Flamenco), but it's not Flamenco (modern or otherwise). The average listener prefers the watered down stuff like this compared to real Flamenco. The problem is that Hollywood and people unfamiliar with Flamenco have really confused the situation.
