What music is he facing?? Isiah was just answering questions. How a story can get so twisted. I bet Sportscenter won't ask Jordan about his gambling allegations or his affairs with other woman huh? Or Magic doing...well you know the story. How disrepectful is that to talk to a NBA legend like that. The media is full of douches, and when a real person says some real shit, they turn on you (Iverson, Isiah, Oscar Robertson). They support fakeness
ZEKE, one of the BEST, YES best to ever play the game. All the misconceptions about him are just media BULLSHIT along with a few people that couldn't get ZEKE to cater to THEIR own agenda. Isiah has done alot of good wherever he has been but, we only hear supposedly bad things he has done. I am and always will be an Isiah Thomas fan, good luck at the college level ZEKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hilarious! That reporter has her head up her ass, like a shark going after bait that doesn't exist. how many times does he have to answer the same question?
Stupid analogy. Stupid comment. She asked good solid relevant questions. Good for her. There was a shitload of bait there. But she wasn't going after the bait, it was the other way around. A good reporter doesn't let a pathological liar control the interview. And that's what Thomas is, a pathological liar with plenty of history to support it. Thomas, a career snake, expected it would be just another pure PR appearance. He was wrong.
***FYI*** One other thing- he donated his first year salary back to the school; to do that in this economy says alot- especially for Isiah Thomas. Not to sound like a homer but he has done alot of charity work and things that is not always put in the forefront because of the alleged 'perception' the media has cast about him. I think everybody will say their immediate family and their well-being comes first and they wish for it to be private.
As a famous person like Isiah Thomas you always have to expect the unexpected, especially interview questions 'coming out of nowhere'. I would say this about Isiah- he is the master of sarcasm, I think a skill that everyone should and probably has mastered. Was her question off-based? Probably, ESPN is not the Nat'l Enqurier but all journalist try to make a name for themselves whatever sleazy way they can. I think it was a good interview for him and go FIU and Detroit Pistons! I.T. fan forever!
If Stan Van Gundy is the master of panic then Isiah Thomas is the master of disaster. It's a shame his legacy as a superb hall of fame player will be overshadowed by what transpired during his tenure with the knicks.
I thought this was supposed to be an Interview on accepting his head coaching position? This is something I would expect to see from TMZ, National Enquirer, or other sleaze tabloids...not ESPN. wow..
The charges were never dismissed. It was him that OD'ed, the sheriff said so. And he was found guilty for sexual harassment. Those 2 things are fact. Keep sucking on Isiah's nutsack though. I'm sure he's happy he has one fan at least.
Nothing you said makes sense. Of course they are freeing up cap for 2010. But the cap could have been freed up long ago for another year, like the time Kobe was a free agent and almost signed with the f'n Clippers before he went back to the Lakers. Isiah is terrible and God have mercy on FIU, aka Fire Isiah University.
Kobe wasn't leaving la, just like lebron isn't leaving cleveland. The man was bad but how many other people are bad at way more important jobs? He doesn't deserve the personal attacks.
The knicks wasn't his fault, he inherited a messed up situation and they just wanted to win right now. They didn't give him the luxery of clearing cap space for 2010 like they are doing these guys. They kept the pressure on him and he made some bad decisions along the way, but that in no way reflects on how he is as a person. You can criticize him as a gm, but not as a man.
Wasn't his fault? o you even pay attention to basketball? He could have done the same thing the Knicks are doing now, instead he went for the quick-fix in making trading for "talented" guys like Marbury, Curry, Randolph, etc. and it got him nowhere.
Yeah they are doing the right thing now because they want to go after the free agents in 2010.
Its a lot easier when the boss doesn't want you to "win at all costs." And like i said he walked into a bad situation and the "win now" attitude in new york didn't make it any better. Was he a good gm, i don't think so but he was a pretty good coach in indy.
I will back up Randy Cash's statement. When I first saw this, I really thought that ESPN Chris Mckendry really seemed like she had something against Isiah Thomas and unnecessarily aggressive. This was a joyous moment for Isiah Thomas as he is trying to redeem himself and doing something that probably should be applauded for then be ridiculed for. ESPN and especially Mckenzie is really questioning him for accepting a position with FIU for not something with a higher profile...
The media can look really bad here. What if he wants to teach kids at a local high school or go back to his neighborhood and help out with kids there. It's not always necessarily have to be about being at the most 'glorifying' job.
I think Isiah Thomas should win points here. He is doing it for the pure reason of coaching in basketball and giving money back to the University.
Chris seemed to ignore that and just wants to grill him and bring up old news thats already been resolved.
The Knicks weren't good. They weren't a joke. They had been losing for 2 seasons. Isiah comes in and brings his sexually harassing, lauging after losses and generally unprofessional ways into the Garden. Then of course he brings in the fat and unmotivated(Curry) and the crackhead morons(Marbury) along with the many other scrubs he amassed during his 5 years at the helm. Isiah destroyed the Knicks. He took them from bad to worse and he made them a national embarrassment in the process. Fuck Isiah
oh i take it that you would feel better if he openly discussed his family business on espn. what if you had a personal issue and the world was in your face?
Isiah Thomas is and forever will be a waste of human life. He is a disgrace to civilization. I don't care about this interview. I'm talking about his life in general.
he was great in indiana went to the palyoffs all 3 seasons he coached, NY was a joke for a team, thats not his fault and he was a legend as an NBA pro so get over it!
This is unbelievable. It's fair enough to bring up certain subjects, but it could be done with a lot more tact. Not really blaming the host here, though. She's only following a precedent set by the rest of the media. Isiah Thomas went through a trial for a relatively minor offence, wasn't found guilty and has, since, had personal problems. Yet, for some reason, parts of the media pour more vitriol on him than they would a serious criminal. I wish him luck.

In addition to all this, she maintains a really stern look at the camera that is kinda disturbing.not only for Isiah but for any viewers.
This really reminds me of Jim Grays interview of Pete Rose where a sports reporter brings up old negative news when it is not appropriate time.
