  • THANK YOU SO MUCH TERESA,!! i just made my first baby blanket for my cousin, and i used your pattern i posted a video response... I love your videos,,, xoxo

  • I'm a beginner to crocheting ..I usally use the granny sticand basic pattern you are using. I'd like to know if the star stitch is difficult and if you give directions...I would like to make one for my new grand-baby coming!

  • Teresa, I am a "newbie" when it comes to crochet and your videos are by far (that I have found so far) lol a real time step

  • Hi Teresa,

Thanks for a great instructional video! Love the design and am thrilled I am able to do this. Question: how can I prevent each row from increasing? It seems my borders are not staying straight on the side in which a new color of yarn is added. Help!!!

  • @bkrosero

I too have found this as an issue everytime I did this pattern...how do we get it to not happen?

  • @ttcalittleangel2007 Your work should not be increasing. Is your foundation chain to tight?

  • @bkrosero If you worked the chain to tight in the beginning, your edges may expand. If you are talking about the knots, you may want to consider working an edging to cover the imperfections.

  • Hi Teresa,

Great tutorial. I've been wanting to use this stitch. I'm making a ROUND potholder. Can I use this stitch? Where should I increase the stitch - on ch1 or 3dc?

    Thanks a lot in advance.....

  • so nice...great crochet...

  • @Emyrosea777 Thank you.

  • I want to make a scarf using this stitch! How many single crochets would I have to do to start with?

  • @killertiger909 Just make a chain for the width you want. If you end up with an extra amount of chain, you can sew it right in. If the chain won't sew in, you can cut at the furthest point from the edge and unravel the chain, the sew it in. This way you can experiment with different widths without unraveling your first row each time.

  • In slow motion I can follow and learn what each stitch means...by the way how can I post a short video of my afghan so I can show u what I learn from u????

  • Wow u are amazing!!!!! When I first showed interest to crochet I was very young. I became very ill and unable to walk due to a foot infection, and since I couldn't walk I decided to learn and so I went to you tube and saw some interesting stitches. I saw this one in particular and follow your instructions, and I had fun and enjoyed it. I started an afghan and I love how is coming along...thanks Theresa u are the greatest since I can't understand reading the patterns with your videos and in slo

  • for making a baby afghan how many chains would you recommend?

  • I just tried this as a sample and it looks really good, I used 2 colors (hot pink, navy) and they look great together...Now I might have the courage to actually turn it into a baby afghan..

  • @tosha723 You are welcome Tosha! Please share a picture and video response when you get your afghan complete.

  • @tjw1963 @tjw1963 I sure will! I told my daughter tonight that I wanted her to take a short video of all the samples that I have done from watching your tutorials( she is the one who started me crocheting and when she would get frustrated teaching me, she found your tutorials and the rest is history!) Its really nice to have a hobby you can do with your teenager, its our special time together.

  • I made a red and green one for Christmas ! It's so pretty, thankyou so much !

  • Thank you for sharing this pattern. I completed an afghan (yellow and orange). It's nice bright fun cozy. Thanks again Teresa!

  • Thank you for making this video!

  • i have one question: since you chain 31 as the base, does that make this a pattern that uses a multiple of 4 + 3?

  • how can I get a copy of larksfoot pattern

  • Great tutorial! You give such clear instructions and I especially appreciate the "slow-mo" portions, as they help me make sure I'm getting it right. Thank you for all you do!! :)

  • @luvinmyMAC I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Great videos for instruction. Thanks for the help! Now where did I put those hooks that I've had forever? :)

  • Hey Teresa! I love this stitch! I am currently wanting to make a full size afghan with it. I'm estimating I want it to be about 4 x 6 (I have tall people in my family).

My dilemma is... instead of doing three separate colors consecutively... I am using the same color every second row. The colors are Red, Dark Brown, and Cream. So my pattern is going in rows of R, DB, R, C, repeat.

What math would I use for the skeins needed?

Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial!

  • hi teresa! :) thanks so this tutorial also, is it okay if i chain 21 instead of 31 and get the same pattern?

  • What would be a good border to use on this pattern?

  • thank you so much teresa , i tried to make this before but not succeeded . now i got grip completely .happy teachers day

  • @rituvip I am glad you got it. I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Mother of God, these videos are AMAZINGGGG!!! I was looking for long time! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much you helped me in making my fashion project! Thank you!!!! And I am looking forward to your new videos!

  • @TheItaliana7 You are so kind. I appreciate your generous words.

  • I watched the video and I love the pattern and am ready to begin. I want to make a larger blanket and I originally started with 155 chains (a multiple of 31). I do not really understand the concept of the chain and the multiple. Heeeellllppppp!!!!!!!

  • @brifar It takes 4 chains for each segment of the pattern. The chains are the foundation. You are working with 4 stitches to create the pattern or design of the afghan.

  • d=(´▽`)=b Love!!! Thank!!

  • @oliveoilbakery Thank you!

  • Awesome, thanks. Presented very simply and I think I am gonna have to give this a try as a friend is having a baby.

  • @happypuppy1011 Please share a picture when you are done!

  • I'm a new crocheter and I must say this is sooo easy to follow and it crochets up so beautiful! Your instructions are so easy to follow. Thank you so much for taking the time out to show everyone. I, for one, truly appreciate it! I'm almost done with my grand baby's blanket. Thank you again! you're a wonderful teacher and I hope you never stop lol :)

  • @Karaliina Congratulations on the new grand baby! I appreciate your kind words, thank you!

  • This is so pretty. I can't wait to try it myself!

  • i also wanted to know what would happen if i use 3 ply yarn instead if 4 ply. the yarn i want to use does not come in 4 ply. please help me! thank u! very much looking foward to making this blanket.

  • @chitwnprinc3ss What you will do is work a longer width, starting chain. I would estimate about a chain of 150

  • U used 31 chains for the demo. Can u tell me How many chains for the full project. Or did I miss that?

  • I love your videos! I have done several of your projects, and this will be my next one. Thank you for your videos! :)

  • @ladyinblack1821 You are welcome.

  • Absolutely beautiful. I sat here mesmerized for 15 minutes

  • thank you so much for your video, i made my sister a baby blanket and this is the first time i held a crochet and yarn, your step by step video made that happen and i am so hooked to it that i am planning to make a shawl for my mom i want to make her a summer breeze shawl can u tell me what kind of yarn should i use and wht pattern you recommend?

  • @23iffo I would recommend some Caron yarn since it is nice and soft. I have a recent SeaBreeze tutorial that would make a nice rectangle shawl. youtube.com/watch?v=XcP2xjNrdhc

  • Teresa, is there a border one could/should do on this blanket? I think it looks fine to just end with the last row and all the stripes. I just wondered if you had any ideas on a border. Thanks!!

  • @TheGenflute I would suggest a single crochet

  • Wow thanks so much this is beautiful!

  • Very nice, I had no idea how complexed Crocheting was.....very nice.!

  • @senderlizzard Thank you!

  • Thank you for the vido and the pattern I just love this on. You are so hepful just wanted to tell you i have learn how to crochet from you. Thank you so much.

  • @tuesdayw1 I appreciate the comment, thank you. :)

  • This is great! I'm going to go home and make a baby blanket right now! Thanks for your great series of posts!

  • @TheGenflute You are welcome!

  • can u get this in 10 to 12yr old kids

  • This was so helpful I have not made a blanket in a while and wanted to make one for my friends new baby. This is the exact pattern I was looking for. And being able to see it is easier for me than reading the pattern.

  • Perfect instruction. Thanks!!

  • @randommara You are welcome!

  • done everything as shown with a great result and a lot of loose color ends hanging on the side, how do we get rid of them without messing it up? thanks so very much for your videos, they have been more than helpful for me :)

  • I know that you used an I/5.5mm crochet hook, do you think it would make a big difference if I used a size 5?

  • @Strawberry2934 You can use a size 5mm hook. It will work the same. In fact, you can use a variety of different size crochet hooks.

  • Wow! This video is great! I want to try doing it but I was wondering what brand of yarn did you do this with. I was thinking in doing it with the Baby Bernat Sport yarn, is that one good to do this afghan?

  • @Strawberry2934 I used 4 ply yarn.

  • woooooow

  • Im wundering can u include the shell stich some how in this patern or no?

  • love your videos.. great ! can you tell me what kind of border I can use on this or does it even need one ? thank you so much !!!

  • @h2hssss You can get away without a border or work a single crochet or reverse single crochet.

  • Where do you get your hook protectors or grips? I cant find any and it would help to have them for my hands..I have just the metal hooks and after a while of crocheting it hurts.

  • @tallsmartbeauty They are pencil grips that I purchased from Wal-mart. You can find them in the office supply section of the store.

  • Your instructions are the best. Thanks for showing the beginning and end of each row and changing yarn color also. SO GOOD!!! Can't wait to get started on this one.

  • @vonDaly I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • I started this pattern for an afghan. I already did about 4 rows and realized i only was chaining 3 at each end.. is there a way i can correct this, or should I just pull it all out and start over hehe? :D

  • @nhchicky A chain 3 is not going to affect the outcome. You may find that the chain 3 looks better than the chain 4. If you think it looks alright, there is no need to rip it out.

  • Hello

An estimate would be great using a H hook, just want to make it's large enough for adult, I had stroke and sometimes get a little confused, this pattern calls for multiple of 4

    Any assistance is sincerely appreciated

    I love this pattern

    Thanx

    Maria

  • @Gideon1870 A good place to start would be 180-220 chains. Don't worry about any extra chains that you have left over. They can be sewn in between your stitches at the end.

  • @tjw1963

    Awesome...you're a sweetheart

    Thank you again

will send you image once I get it started and you can see pattern clearly

I've promised my sister a afghan for 2 yrs now and I'm ready to give it a try, had stroke 8/2008

I've made hats and scarfs within past 3 wks

    Maria

  • Hello again

I want to make a 40 X 60 afghan in this larksfoot stitch pattern for my sister.

How many chains would I begin with for this 40 x 60 size afghan??

    Thanks

    Maria

  • @Gideon1870 I suggest that you crochet a chain to the length you are looking for and go from there. I can give you an estimate but most likely the size outcome is going to be different. This is because each person develops their own unique crochet tension. Then you add in different size yarn and hooks, which is why the outcome can be drastically different from what I give you. I have had the best results crocheting a chain to the width and continue with the length.

  • Hi! I have been watching your videos for 2 days now! I am a "pro" amateur, meaning I have been crocheting for years, but never out of the basic double crochet afghans as well as granny square quilts. I cant understand patterns as I was never really shown and see you work on screen really helps with the hands on approach! Thanks for everything and keep them coming!

  • Thank you for this!

  • @jsher1ock You are welcome!

  • i luv this i think it was realy easy for such a pretty design and have to say u r the easiest to learn from yet!!!!!

  • you started the blanket with the end by chaining three, then you eventually chain four, to continue the blanket, do i want to keep chaining three or four?

  • you started the blanket with the end by chaining three, then you eventually chain four, to continue the blanket, do i want to keep chaining three or four?

  • @joshkresge Some rows will start with a chain 3, which is what is needed for the step up for the double crochet. Other rows will need a chain 4 which is the step up for the double crochet and chain 1. I do have symbol instructions posted on my crochet blog which will give you a visualization for stitch placement. The link is in the video details below the video.

  • I'm not really good at reading symbols. I like the videos since I'm a visual learner. Why is it that you don't join the colors with two loops of the old color then finish the stitch with the new? How do you make sure it doesn't unravel when it gets washed? Thanks.

  • @ladyv65 I Find that adding the slip knot makes it more secure than finishing through the previous colors. You can do it either way. You will need to knot and secure your tails, then sew them in. This will prevent the blanket from coming apart in the wash. It is possible that you tails may come out at a later time, so all you do is sew them back in.

  • CAN WE MAKE THIS WITH ONLY ONE COLOUR...?

  • @asmaMs20 Yes, you can work it with one color!

  • the way you hold your hands kinda messes it up for me.

  • thanx 4 this video

  • double crochet in the next double crochet?? do you mean chain??

  • @lameexcuse17 There is a set of symbol instructions on my crochet blog. The link is in the video details below the video.

  • when starting the 2nd row you don''t make it clear on which chain you put your hook in. im having a problem getting everything to line up?

  • @lameexcuse17 Please visit my crochet blog for the written and symbol instructions. The link is in the video details below the video.

  • I have been a crocheter since I was about 8 years old, I make blankets and use a ripple or a granny square. I am attemting to learn this pattern, but am perplexed as to why when I chain 31 I end up one stitch short on my 8th set on the example. Can you help.

  • @tg10270 I have symbol instructions posted on my crochet blog. This may help you determine why you are a stitch short. You can find the link in the video details below the video.

  • @tjw1963 Thank you. I guess 32 years of crocheting, I can now count. I still had to add an extra chain for 32 to get the 8 sets. My mom was able to do it, but somehow I count different than you and her. I will let you know how I make out with my attempt at the new pattern. Thanks again for your help.

  • @tjw1963 I just love this stich and like most, I have been working on blankets for years. My children and Grandchildren, mother, and brothers have all gotten a blanket from me with the same ole stich. Either single or popcorn. This is beautiful and working out great. Thank you for the step by step video. i am doing this one now and I just don't know what one to do next. Everything I have wanted to do but the book was so confusing and now I can do all of them. Again, Thank You.I will be very busy

  • wow, now I truly believe that there is a youtube vid for everything. I haven't crocheted in over 3 years...since I was pregnant with my daughter. I thinkn it's time to take it up again. THanks!!

  • @Christopherslady You can find just about everything on YouTube! :) I appreciate the comment.

  • i'm going to start a blanket w/ this pattern tomorrow :) I've always done the traditional crochet stitch for EVERY blanket i"ve ever made, and now i've decided to branch out into something new and different! I'm excited...your video makes it very easy to figure out and to imitate--thanks!

  • @navywife4evr You are welcome. :)

  • Wow i thank u very much this is a great pettern, i am going to use this pattern on my next project...... Thank you

  • @artistboy12 You are welcome! :)

  • Hi Teresa love all your videos. I have a question for you. Do you have any video where I can learn how to change the color? With this I mean how to secure the first and how to incorporate the second. In this video it happens to fast that I can not know how you do it. If you have a video already give me the name and I'll seach for it. THANKS!!

  • @yadipat How to Make a Slip Knot, A Slip Stitch and Attach New Yarn Color to Crochet Row/Round . This is the title of the video.

  • you didnt skip a ch after the first two dc

  • Would this pattern go well for a scarf?

  • @Bufurzone It would work great for a scarf.

  • @tjw1963 By the way,Iam from Uae and here crochet work is very expensive and I never thought of using it as a homebusiness project. Thanks to God,mom and you Teresa..I'll keep own watching your videos 'cuz alongside as a good project it's kinda become my latest hobby. :-)

  • @Bufurzone Is crochet something that not many people do in the Uae? Until the Internet, I think that crochet had lost popularity here in the USA.

  • @tjw1963 Well, you must've heared that uae's the most richest country but the truth's not everyone's rich here..I come from middle class and most women do crochet here but rich women sell their work expensive but I want to sell a bit cheaper so everyone could buy and demand for more!!

  • I have a question, in the video you say that your chain is 31 which is 24(multiple of 4) plus 7 chains "required to make up the beginning of the pattern.. so when we choose a size do we also need to add 7 chains? My chain is a 200 link chain (multiple of 4) so do I need to add 7 more chain links to begin? or do I start with my 200? Thanks

  • I just knew you had to be awesome since we have the same name (and spell it correctly!) Thank you soooo much for posting these videos! They have been so helpful in me learning!!!!

  • I keep coming up 1 short when I follow the video using 31 chs...what did I do? I tore it out 3 times and re-did it and still came up short! Grr....

  • Once again, a new crochet stitch for another scarf for Christmas for the Homeless. Thanks Teresa. I love your videos and I can always refer back to them. >^..^<

  • I wanted to know what are those rubber holders on the needles you use? and where can i get some? it looks like it relives the pain of too much crocheting!

  • @web10124 They are gel pencil grips and can be found at Wal-mart.

  • Thank you so much for this video.now i make pillow by this Stitch

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!! Your tutorials are so easy to follow :D I am making a blanket for my baby and I cant wait to finish it now :D

  • thank you for this tutorial...=]

  • Hi,

I don't understand what the multiple numer in crochet means. Is this the number of extra stitches that you would make when beginning stitching a chain stitch? Thank you for being patient to telling me what & how to do "chain 4 (or other numers.)

    Please repjy to clb1964@dejazzd.com

  • Thank you so much for another great tutorial! I absolutely love your channel. Any crochet ideas or patterns I look to you first. Keep up the great work! :-)

  • @IMaHARDhabit2break I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Thanks! This pattern is great! You're video is really easy to follow. I'm working on a blanket (yellow n orange). Thanks again!

  • I am gonna try this stich it looks really easy. Thank you.

  • Since this is my first "big" project, I would like to know how how long the initial first ro

row of chains need to be for this baby afghan....let's say that I want to make a 40 inches long afghan.....Is my first row of chains going to be 50 inches long? Thanks to anyone that answers my question....

  • @boricua043 The multiple is 4, which means that it takes 4 chains to complete one segment of the pattern stitch. If you want to make a baby afghan, you will crochet between 125-150 chains to start off. Don't work about extra chains left over. You can always sew them in at the end.

  • I have been saving all the patterns/instructions from Teresa, since I'm a beginner, and I have made a few pretty things, since her explanations are so clear, precise, and the pace is great for anyone that is just starting....

  • Gracias, estuvo muy bonita esta puntada. Esta muy bien explicada

  • @Normanowable Le agradezco el comentario, gracias.

  • Is there any reason why your use the little grip things?? Does it help in any way because i never thought about using something like that. Also what size hook are you using for this blanket?

  • @billysbabygirl93 The grips are for comfort. You can use any size crochet hook to make this pattern.

  • I like the way you crochet. It looks so graceful. Wow, you must be an expert.

  • @lippychapped Thank you.

  • what yarn brand do you use?? what's the best for baby blankets??

  • I WISH I COULD DO THIS IT'S LOOK BEAUTIFUL!

  • Thanks so much for your quick response. How would you recommend I do a border on this blanket then? Does it not need one? I was thinking of just using two colors and then trying to use the white all around the edge for a border. I'm a beginner, so maybe I'll just go border-less.

  • @georgeandjordan You may just want to work single crochet or a reverse single crochet all the way around.

  • Teresa - can you make a baby blanket using the Larksfoot Pattern and put a border on it? It looks like this video uses white, light pink and green. Then I watched the whole video and you are only using two colors. What happened to the white? I'm so confused....please help because I just LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! Thanks!!!

  • @georgeandjordan You can use three or how every many colors your want to use. On the row where I attached the the first color again, you will attach the third color.

  • thank you so muchhhh......

  • I am still new to crochet and your videos are just perfect to learn how to crochet! Thank you very much for taking the time to make these videos to share with us!

  • @ilvmakindolls You are welcome.

  • how do you do a loop-n-lace afgan? i need some help. do you have a video on it?

  • I was wondering if you have a video showing how to change the colors... I can't seem to catch that process... Other than that, I totally can't wait to get this project underway!! You are a great instructor!! I have been crocheting forever but haven't been able to find anyone to slow down long enough to really teach me any new stitches!! Thank you so much!! So I am really excited to get a new pattern in my afghan assortment!! HAHA Thank you!!

  • Wonderful instructional video - thanks for posting!

  • @MyGirlMoo You are welcome. :)

  • hello im trying to do the first part of the example and i keep comng up with two stictches at the end instead of three what can i be doing wrong please help me

  • @ohsnap718 The written instructions are posted on my crochet blog along with a symbol chart. That may help you see what you are doing wrong.

  • I am in the process of starting this afghan for a baby blanket. Its a very easy pattern. thanks for posting it. Do you have FB? Would like to see some of your work..thanks

  • @nannsee961 The link to my FB page is on my main YouTube channel when you click on tjw1963.

  • i made a afgan with this stitch,,, i just posted it on your FB page thank you gain

  • teacher, if i using 4.5mm hook, how many chain should i make?

  • measure the chains until you get the length of the blanket and then crochet the width

  • Comment removed

  • Nice and easy stitch once you get the pattern but I am unsure what to do with the with the yarn from the changing colors and cut off's? I am a beginnier so I am not sure how to blend them in. Thanks again for the videos.

  • i love your examples theyre so easy to follow and easy to see! thanks so much

  • @bluuwolf You are welcome. :)

  • You have done it again! I am so excited to begin this project! I want to know if is it possible to make it longer for an afgan for an adult. You will probably say "Yes" ! I am trying it out now anyway. I think this will make a great gift for my mother. Thank you so much for being my "crochet mentor"!

  • You will make a longer chain for an adult size afghan and then crochet a longer length. Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it.

  • Thank you Teresa. I'm working along with your instructions. Hope to post it for you to see when completed.

  • complimenti molto brava

  • Teresa; I would love to crochet a baby blanket with this pattern. Is using Red Heart super saver worsted yarn too heavy for a baby blanket?

  • You can make a baby blanket with any yarn.

  • This is a very nice pattern, I have been contemplating an afghan for my daughter. I think this stitch will work nicely with the colors that she's chosen. Thank you for this and quite frankly thank you for all that you do. Even though I'm not a beginner crocheter, I am impressed with your knowledge and have picked up quite a few nice ideas and great tips from you.

  • hello... Im tryng to do this pattern and for some reason i keep coming up with two at the end instead of three. you say to do two double crochet and skip one but it looks to me like you are going into the third stitch. please tell me what im doing wrong. i start out with 31 like you say. YOUR THE BEST BY THE WAY!!!
