@saphireroze001 Well this was made a long time ago. Back then they didnt use the sleepy stuff they use now a days. So no that didnt hurt, but it dose leave a scare. And the chemo was not fun. It made you itch like mad, your face would swell up, and you had horrible mood swings. You need to take a lot of pills to. But now a days for getting the chemo, you get it in something called life port. Thats what you get your weekly blood work and the chemos in. It makes it much easier then a IV in the arm
@saphireroze001 Depending on the kind and when they catch it yes. They caught mine at stage 3, so it was hurting super bad. It felt like there was knifes in my side. Im sorry about your teacher. And if your intersted, I do have a video of my cancer journey on my page. It shows some of the other side effects in the pictures and stuff.
@Richaverezrocks Curiously, around the time this special was made, Schulz stated that Linus had outgrown his blanket and seldomly appeared on the strip after that. I think it doesn't appear here because he's acting more maturely than in any other special.
I Luv Yah Linus, keep on acting like tht and great stuff will come to u in life. this teached me alot. to see tht little girls beautiful silky, golden hair offf, hurt me
this episode, prepares u for the worst, it also tells how many deal with cancer each year and day, I love this episode but it sad in the process seeing someone suffer.
I had a friend in primary school who was diagnosed with leukaemia, he passed away 2 years after he was diagnosed (5 years ago). This episode really reminds me of him, cause I didn't really know what leukaemia was back then lol, I thought it was just a cold :/
I had no idea Charlie Brown ever dealt with such issues as this. I only know Charlie Brown from their holiday specials. I have a new found respect for the show.
goddamn it Pandora, Why'd ya have to open that fucking box?! You could've just left it alone like Zeus told ya but NOOOO! None of this shit would have to happen if you just left it alone! (i'm just messin with ya guys; i'm not greek)
Man oh man!!! I went out yesterday and brought MW3! AMAZING GAME!! love it to bits!! but my xbox live subscription ran out. I was so pissed that I had to go out and get a new one!
then I sat down and watched this episode. somehow my problems don't seem all that important any more.
@kdreamland No-one here gives a toss about the repetitive tripe that is CoD. This is a film raising awareness about cancer so have some bloody foresight and show some sensitivity instead of comparing having a terminal illness to your stupid Xbox Live subscription running out, for God's sake.
@TheMonochromeBird yeah, reading is not your strength. I said I was angry when I had no xbox live, then I watched this episode and realised that my problems weren't so big after all. that's what I said. I'm not comparing this to my xbox live running out, I'm basically saying that whatever little 'problems' I go through every day, something like this makes me realise how much I take for granted.
But you didn't really read my comment at all did you?
@kdreamland Yes, but was it necessary to even voice those problems and mention CoD and your Xbox? A more tactful comment would've been 'my problems don't matter so much when I watch this' with the actual problems omitted because, when you read some of the comments here about people knowing someone who had cancer or who have it themselves, no-one really wants to read about you moping over CoD or your Xbox, regardless of intent. And there's no need to be a dick, either.
@TheMonochromeBird you sent me a message? but it's not on here. so to answer your points, i think it shows the depth of humbling, and makes for a bigger realisation when you compare the mundane to the major. And you really shouldn't get so upset just because of the word COD or xbox. what if I said I was playing them while in the hospital?
@kdreamland Oh, it's fine, I overreacted. A friend of mine lost her mother to cancer, you see, but that's hardly your fault. Also, not trying to sound scathing here, but since when can you play game consoles in hospitals? Mobile phones are banned but you can have games consoles? Wow, it's been a while since I've been to hospital.
I remember reading that they intended this one to have some comedy as well as some drama. So as a result of having had a fairly"heavy" scene before this one was put in for some comic relief. And that it did. Great set up with the line by Linus and when we see Dr. Snoopy and his dietary choices there is nothing to do but laugh.
@paulsonj72 Right, you have a point, I like the balance of seriousness, and light-hearted moments in this special: I mean, that's really what the world of Charlie Brown was all about... heart.
@GhettoDiner Because kids never get cancer ever and it's definitely not something that should be discussed in public lest kids actually start to understand some of the realities of the world around them.
Maybe some people think it's kind of harsh to confront kids with topics like this.
In my opinion this certain movie is quite important for kids to learn about the harsh realities in life. Yes, people do get cancer and it sucks that we can't do very much about it in in most cases.
It may bring a tear or two upon your eyes but after all it makes you cherish life more and not take your health for granted, that's probably the most important lesson you'll ever get.
I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 4 years old. I was diagnosed cancer free in october 1996. Today i'm studying medicine, and one day hoping to help and treat kids with cancer. I love this episode because it helps people and espacially kids to understand cancer.

@TheCamamaka I don't know how to tell you this but if you do some research you will learn the truth. There are cures for Cancer. The Medical Industrial Complex company's would lose billions of dollars if they cured these illness instead of continuous expensive medical treatment. If you are serious try to expose this to save lives.
@carven2004eca I've heard that rumour from my step-dad, who has never thought any good would behold our futures. Even I'm a sceptic to those new medical practices.
In fact, my dad believes that there may be also a cure to the common cold, but nowadays, companies put money before progress. Look at media nowadays, & you can practically see the 'money before breakthrough' being put into it...
Poor Linus : He misses Janess. He has a crush on her and wants her to be cancer free. Poor Janess : SHE'S IN THE HOSPITAL WITH CANCER! (As if that one wasn't obvious.) :'( Saddest Charlie Brown Movie ever.......I actually cried. :'(

Linus: stands for the kids who are going to try to understand children with cancer, still befriend them, and treat them no different
Charlie: is a friend of support in this movie. Everyone needs support
Lucy: stands for the group of kids who judge before they really know and doesn't make them bad
Janice: stands for the kids who get cancer but still retain that spark of Hope.
God bless them all. Keep them innocent,
