  • Its the way of the future, Its the way of the future, Its the way of the future, show me the plans, show me the plans, show me the plans..

  • way too quiet, a superbike with cruiser speed? don't like it

  • bike without sound is like hot-dog without mustard.... useless

  • @floflospeed24 Electrics have a sound. It's scary cool. Think first tron movie. I love it.

  • Global warming....or wait I mean climate change right. Maybe in 5 years it will be something else to scare the sheeple. I mean come on.... their pushing this green energy crap hard into the market and its EXPENSIVE AS HELL. I'll keep my Petro Race bike thank you

  • @TheSquirrel1986 Electric has a lower total cost of ownership than petrol.

  • Eco mentalists even managed to make a 'economical motorcycle' .... WHAT THE HELL?! like motorbikes and global warming have nothing to do with each other!!

  • In terms of development this is the equivalent of a model T in petrol engines.Give it ten years and there will be nothing better than electric power. That was obvious 30 years ago.Batteries and engines are getting smaller and power is getting stronger.Cant wait.Already systems of self charging on trailing throttle wich provides a certain amount of braking. Will be FANTASTIC in the future!!

  • As someone already mentioned, the damage done to the environment producing electricity is still astronomical, not to mention the range seems very limited with a battery. Maybe if solar panels ever become efficient enough to run this thing, they could fit some on it? If that ever becomes a reality with this particular bike, I would buy it.

  • @EnthusiasticView The amount of electricity used to refine oil into petrol is actually more than the amount of electricity used by running the equivalent electric vehicle.

  • is it heavy? and how high is it?and how much is it?

  • @hoang95tu not sure its for sale :S

  • DO WANT!

  • funny thing, the sponsor is gopro cameras whilst its obvious in 1:20 that he uses a contour or something like that for the onboard filming.LOL

  • Its just not the same BUT at least there is hope if gas becomes too rare....

  • does anybody else realize at 1:47 that sign clearly says FLY TIPPING IS ILLEGAL...cctv camera in operation.....wtf is fly tipping

  • @burrburrburr1247 were you dumb rubbish illegally lol

  • Сколько он стоит?

  • Lets play tag LOL

  • Nada como meter 200km/h numa moto e pagar, tipo, dois pila pra "encher o tanque".

  • its a fucking scooter, that's what it is

  • Cost me 20 Euros to fill up my R1...With the cost of gas...i would get this. In the states, 125 MPH still get you a speeding ticket

  • Is it me or is anyone else worried about elecrtic bikes? I'm just freaked out that one day there will be no petrol bikes and just no-noise, battery powered scrap!? Still i'll burn rubber and release CO2 as much as I want!

  • @DemonicWeapons

This is the future, we'll all have advanced hearing, and thermal vision chips on our eyes.

  • I can't wait for electric bikes to become normal (cheap) I would sell my Yamaha for a nice dirt electric bike

  • @laktix Zero is building dirtbikes that cost more to buy but so much less to run that they work out much cheaper than any petrol bike. Time to put that Yamaha up for sale.

  • the horrifying future... though 60p for 80 miles is bloody tempting!

  • 5 guys are those who dont have electricity connection at there home .....

  • looks like a Ktm rc8

  • dude your all crazey. When riding a motorcycle compared to riding in a car, you have a 16 times better chance of having a fatal accident and 24 times chance of sustaining an injury. They should call sport bikes death rockets. is the fun realy worth your life, or serious injury? You better pray before you ride. That goes for everyone.

  • @crazypersonlol34 alright go live ur life in fear of injury, that will get you far

  • @crazypersonlol34 haha thats the difference between you and the riders, and prayers here doesnt work either...

  • @crazypersonlol34 Damnnnnn what are you, a hippy?

  • @crazypersonlol34 16 times more likely to get laid.

  • I don't like the idea of this at all..

    1. Batteries are heavy... weight detracts from riding enjoyment.

    2. Save on fuel?... it's a motorcycle not an SUV. Even a liter bike gets better fuel economy than just about anything else on the road, depends more on how you ride rather than mpg's.

    3. It's silent... This is a HUGE turnoff. The best thing about a bike beside the power to weight ratio is the sound it makes.

  • @Sigrafix i agree

  • @Sigrafix i don't wanna say u'r wrong... right, but when i think that petrol companies like total, omv, etc etc make good profit with my money, while they kill for petrol in africa that's what i think is wrong really ! yeh, i'm from europe and i would really love to see america, but let's be honnest, u americans have not yet evolved, cuz u'r still having that old mentality like "nah' u suck i'm better than u" or "yeh bitch, let's see who's got the biggest engine".. it's all psychological

  • @Sigrafix rather than about the fame.. let me ask u something: u really like when u'r at the bus stop for example with your 1 year old in hands and that fucking driver accelerates the hell out of that motherfucker and your child smells all of that polution.. let's not even speak about the environment.. hum? then 18 years later u wonder why he's having lung cancer or brain tumor..

  • @Sigrafix think about it... i don't mean to be rude but let's face it, does the really good noise or small caracteristics like that should matter when we conceive the future for our children?

  • @bogdanux

First of all.. this is about an ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE.. the key being a MOTORCYCLE.. even 150+hp 1000cc bikes that hit 180mph and can outrun pretty much any car on the road in acceleration STILL get about 40mpg.. even more if you ride gently. Secondly, I dunno where the hell you live but in my city of Miami Fl, we have absolutely no pollution. Third, it's a SPORT BIKE.. it's a RECREATIONAL vehicle, it's NOT supposed to be practical or economic.

  • @Sigrafix (continued)

Fourth, electric vehicles, FACT, cause more harm than good to the environment. The batteries are toxic and don't last long, they have to be specially assembled from mined materials all over the planet and are absurdly expensive and STILL, they are charged through power grids which rely mostly on fossil fuels. So yeah you get zero emissions, but you're charging your batteries with power that comes from fossil fuel power plants. It doesn't solve anything at all.

  • @Sigrafix (continued)

Fifth nobody here has said anything at all about being "American" and "bigger is better" In fact I'd say Europeans are the biggest fans of sport bikes being you have companies such as Aprilia, MV Agusta, Ducati, BMW Motorrad etc etc and the other good manufactures like Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda are all Asian. What does the US have? Harley V rod? pfft. Not to mention that MotoGP is a big deal in Europe where as most people in the USA haven't even heard of it.

  • @Sigrafix (continued still)

Sixth, way to be a condescending elitist douche bag by stereotyping an entire nationality of people which are pretty much the most diverse group on the planet when it comes to race, ethnicity or culture. In the future, I'd appreciate it if you actually did some RESEARCH before you decide to judge others with such contempt especially when you're spewing idiocy on a subject (motor vehicles, electric vehicles, vehicle emissions) you clearly know nothing about.

  • @Sigrafix No, the batteries are not toxic. The batteries in my Zero DSelectric could be eaten. They're also completely recyclable when used up, so the minerals in them go round and round, without having to be mined. They're not "absurdly expensive" and over their life cost less than the book service on my other bike (KTM) let alone petrol. My bike is recharged from renewable electricity sourced via the grid (at a small extra cost).

  • @gasdive

I don't know whatever the hell it is you ride but generally speaking the lithium/nickel hydride/lanthanum/neodymium/lead batteries used in most hybrids and electric vehicles are toxic and yes they are absurdly expensive to mine/transport/refine/assemble/transport again/marry onto vehicle and they're only expected to last 10 years or so if used properly which they never are (full discharge/charge cycles) and only last about 4-5 years with real world use.

  • If you really want to go green with bikes I'd say best bet is a diesel sport-ish/cruiser bike, that makes a lot more sense to me. Diesel engines are inherently more fuel efficient and produce a ton more torque than a gas engine which I think would be a great thing in a motorcycle Lol. The sound could use some tweaking... don't get me wrong tho I think Electric motors are awesome, instant torque = massive power, it's the "where do we get the power to drive it" thats the issue.

  • @Sigrafix You see.. Year after year new charging stations are popping up and soon there'll be a infrastructure that is, if not greater than the current petrol system. While that is processing the batteries are getting better and better. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to imagine one charge to get you somewhat the double or the tripple range versus combustion engine's.

I really look forward for an electric, super clean, nice and smooth bike to replace my ducati streetfighter with.

  • @Sigrafix I told you what I ride. A Zero DS. The batteries are not toxic. Still, good to see that you don't let the facts get in the way of your hate.

  • @Sigrafix while batteries are heavy, The total wieght of the bike is less than the petrol equivalent when fueled up and ready to go. The Mavizen is 170 kg ready to go, The petrol equivalent is 200 kg.

Save on fuel yes, and oil and filters and topend rebuilds. A superbike costs more to run than any SUV.

It's not silent, it makes an amazing noise that's just so cool.

  • @gasdive Let's do a 1,000 mile trip and see who has to stop and refuel more and who makes it to the end faster. takes my petrol 1 min to fill up and im good for another 150 miles or so. highly doubt that bike can charge that fast and what building do you know would let you charge that kind of machine at ?

  • @MrKenneth1985 Not every bike is perfect for every use. Personally I've never done a 1000 mile ride, I doubt many people have. It's only 850 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats... I use my electric bike for all my transport except carrying the wife, kid and dog. Range is 50 miles and because it plugs in anywhere (I've never been refused a charge and never been allowed to pay) I can ride out 50 miles, have lunch and ride home. All I need but this bike goes three times as far

  • engine brake???

  • @ganbaa48 If you want it. It's programmable

  • the loud exhaust sound of the sports bike is part of the thrill to many riders....will this capture a big market soon...maybe no

  • Yeah but will it blend?

  • Comment removed

  • gas is cheap for bikes anyway , dont cost much to fill up a tank and a tank takes you on long, long miles of riding before refelling again.. Neat Invention tho

  • @fastone32 Gas is cheap but servicing is not. No filters, no oil, no cams or valves. Much cheaper to run.

  • Damn annoying mormans!

  • Wow weird place to put a ES switch

  • Love it. Make one like this that will cost 12 000$ and i will buy it. Actually i will be looking for a bike next year but i wont spend more then 12 000 $ CDN for it.

  • it sucks that there are no gears -.-

but it looks bewtter than i tought :)

  • Comment removed

  • Driving along with friends that you can actually talk to, is going to be an all new experience, in a good way it think!

I want a "Ducati 1198" version of this, but without the red button!

  • that red button shouldn't be there....

  • How many kW ?

  • Why complain about no engine braking?

A 2 stroke motor has no engine brake either!

    Why complain about no clutch?

A clutch leveler enhance you balls?

What make a good review on MCN?

    A triumph logo

  • I built an electric motorcycle for my senior project in high school, nothing like this of course I used lead acid as opposed to i'm assuming lithium ion. But still the amount of torque off the line is crazy. It always surprises people when they ride my bike even when I tell them they still nearly dump it the first time.

  • The roar of my bike turns me on though!

  • what are the specs? all I get is "a unique experience"

  • But I like noise !!!!

  • what about raining day?? haha worried lol

  • nooooooooooooo

    i dont want this shit

i need to hear my V2!!!!!!!

  • ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

  • OMG u like stoner with rossi helmet

  • what is the price??

  • I think they should do away with that big red button for one. Have a small switch that can kill the bike instead. Another thing they should do is turn it into a manual. I love to change gears myself. I don't care for automatics. The electric style is sweet and all. A good way to help take care of the planet but, where would you go to charge it? Would you have to take it back to the dealers and let them do it? They should give it more sound also. 80 miles? Man that sucks. 300 would be better.

  • @RTiger18 It charges from any wall outlet. So you probably have a refuelling station in your garage. It's not automatic, it's a single gear so it's always in the right gear. The experience is *nothing* like an automatic.

  • It might not cost much to 'fill up', but it will take a hell of a lot longer then with a normal petrol motorbike. And I'd rather hear the sound of a petrol engine then the wizz of a battery powered bike.

  • @SicSeb It takes the bike longer to fill up but unlike a petrol bike, you don't have to be there to do it. Just plug in and walk away, 10 seconds of your time. Just think of your mobile phone. Would you think it was "quicker" to fill if you had to take it to a shop to fill it or just plug in while you sleep? Same thing.

  • 30,550is that uk pounds? i forgot the how you convert that... the Brammo empulse 10.0 is 14,000 dollars american 75 to 110 miles per charge wtih a 225 pound rider half interstate milesat 70 mph and half city stop and go traffice. per email from engineer from Brammo's official website emailing me. so what are the miles per charge guestimates? thanks

  • pojebany on jeździ lewą stroną jezdni

  • rev-matching without the clutch is one of the great joys of riding. I'm not interested in giving that up.

  • it looks very sharp.

I'll hope to see this bike in action.

    :-)

  • looks like ktm rc8 electric version. nice nut still expensive.. lets hope for better prices when they get to mass production lol..

  • What is Fly Tipping?

  • @shop121 FLY TIPPING: Dumping rubbish where you aren't allowed to. Usually done in the quiet country areas and very annoying. It's a real problem in England where there is often a charge to dump commercial waste.

  • Welcome back, motorcycling, to the world from which you came... welcome back to the world of cycling, where you scream along in near silence and pedestrians just step out in front of you!

    Pro:

Cheap to charge, tax free (one would assume), cool as hell.

    Con:

Expensive batteries full of SERIOUSLY nasty chemicals (disposal nightmare), no engine roar, no loud pipes saving lives, power cut-off button is an open invitation to mates hitting the button as you go to pull off.

    Nice either way tho. :o)

  • @thirteenfingers The chemicals in my bike are not nasty. I ride a 2010 Zero DS and the battery is completely non toxic. The noise to the front of a petrol bike is mostly the tyres and the sound of the bike cutting the air. The electric is much the same, so the "loud pipes" argument doesn't apply. The cut off button is mandated by racing.

  • the front just looks like a composition of KTM R8 and MV Agusta F4.

sry for my bad english :D

  • ehh i dont like the kill switches..

  • se parece mucho a la ktm rc8

  • @ :35. it's good for how many miles on the road?

  • Electric motorcycles as electric cars are just another unthought thing humanity is trying to import in the everyday life... there are more downsides to the environment then people know or would like to hear about it! Batteries can't store half as much energy as fuel,.. materials and processes used for batteries are 2-3 times more toxic, and besides, we get more then 60-70% of the electricty from nuclear and thermal powerplants??? That's clean energy? Wake up people.. and we'll need more??..

  • step in the right direction. although expensive, impractical and slowish you have to start somewhere, and its looking good for the future.

  • £30,000 and insurance group 17 for a bike that has a lower top speed than a 250cc aprilia RS250 sports bike and less power than a 10 year old 600 Fazer.

    result = waste of money

  • I want gears.... lol

gears make it more fun if u ask me.

but i'd give it a go =] does look fun

  • looks too toy like for me.

    Flashing lights, big red buttons.

Also, part of the fun for me of having a bike is the sound. Loud, boisterous fun. That just sounds like a G-wiz.

  • but.... can it wheelie?

  • @arghone yes it can

  • Im all for the electric bike but as a rider we all know where drivers dont see you there, But with the quiet electric bike they cant hear you which makes it more dangerous for the riders as cars cant hear you coming over hill and the drivers is pulling out to the road with no noise to judge if a bike is close by. So you see there is situations where this can be fatal.

And there is a fair comment with the patch "loud pipes saves lives"

  • @blueman4444444

Use your horn. And I don't mean the one in your trousers.

  • For these kind of bikes to work they need to make it as close to a 'normal' bike as possible ie aesthetics and controls (minus g'box etc of course). Didn't mention how long it took to charge?

  • I want one :( lol

  • not everything should have a green engine! haha.

  • that bike is fucking awesome!!

  • Whats with the GIGANTIC RED STAPLES "EASY" button on the back of the BIKE?

  • lol imagine riding alongside sbdy with that bike and just pushing that big red button

  • @masterknaster lolz... funny shit...

  • @masterknaster

Ha ha! Yeah, if I know bikers I know they're going to have to lose that bloody thing! :D

  • @masterknaster haha.. so true.. I think the first thig I would do is replace that button and turn it into an elecro shocker and punish jerks like u and me..lol

  • @x1tekja I agre; why put a freaking big azzed button sticking in your face? Use the kill switch for that use like in the gas bikes.

  • you've speeded that film up,theres no milk float bike gonna go that quick :p

  • @MrDevo5 it can be done i think electrical engines give full power instant no need to get the revs up

  • Petrol used to be 60p a litre, wait until this is in mass production, then it'll be up at 1.20 a litre...

  • I,d love one. what a buzz.

you could always place cardboard and clothes pegs against the spokes for authentic engine noise.:-)

  • They are still peddling the global warming lie as a means of taxing every human activity. CO2 is a gas that plants breath!!! It is a control mechanism that will enslave us even further. Nice technical achievement but don't fall for it or within a few years all of us will be forced to ride around on these 'soulless' contraptions! Do the research on the New World Order and its aims before dismissing what I just said......

  • Sorry, but making electric bikes is a waste of R&D. Bikes are already extremely fuel efficient when compared to cars. Making them electric adds nothing and sacrifices alot of soul. Bikes are already very environment friendly. If everyone drove a bike instead of a cage, the earth would be alot better off. Electric CARS and TRUCKS are what people like this need to be working on, not bikes.

  • @UltraSWG The easy way of sorting out the car problem is NO ROOM NO CAR !!!!!!but as for the electric bike maybe but it is not for me. By the way i am not a tree hugger

  • i would never get it. sorry environment.

  • Not for me.... The sound of a loud exhaust and the smell of a burnt fuel is a fundamental part of the whole experience of having or riding a bike. This is not in my world. Pass...

  • Would be interesting to know how long it does take to recharge, and can you only use 110v, 220v or 480v for the charge?

  • i've not read all the comments, the lack of engine braking could be added through some form of regenerative braking.

i cant wait for more vehicles like this, bring down the cost of batteries, improved cheap green energy = more riding time! :) just need to figure out what we're gonna do for tires!

  • Ahhh cool, I wondered how long it would take you guys at MCN to get your hands on one of these bikes by Mavizen.

Not seen one of them up close myself personally, but my dad knows the owner and has been telling me how they are getting on.

The owner has been making his own electric bikes for years, but only recently wth KTM, will see if I can get a propper look at one one myself now.

I noticed you were filming/riding in Newhaven on the A26 which is just down the road from where Mavizen is based!

  • When do you think we will run out of oil at the current consumption rate. I bet we have maybe another 100 years of fuel left but the price of fuel will surely rise before we are out. That is what this bike is about. But for now i'll stick to my gasoline powered rocket.

  • superbikes are toys ;)

  • Ok there will always be many many people who love the sound and feel of an angry engine. But what about the thousands and millions who just look at bikes as a way of getting from A to B...?

  • What the hell is fly tipping?

  • This is truth, it`s a Big step forward, but it`s never gonna be this same like in petro motorbikes.

  • This is a very exciting and encouraging view of the future. I for one can't wait! More please MCN!

  • Electric bikes are the future!!! Easier to create with high speed compare to cars, cause cars are too big and heavy. I wonder how long it would takes for more brands to go electric.

  • I dont need a 100 plus machine just a mega economical but usable every day bike that can handle the motorway and the city roads as well. I dont mind putting petrol into my fun bike just dont like paying through the nose to get to work

  • the next step is to make a tourer and to help increase the range maybe slap on some solar panels thats built into the panniers or something

  • how long does it take to charge up?

  • The sound of the bike is a big part of why i ride tbh, this is just, basicly showing off. its good that the technology is there, but i'd prefer the noisy petrol guzzling engine ;)

  • id fuckin die if i had 1 no sound no shifting no wheelies

  • good to see that e-tech is crossing over to sportsbikes. what disappoints me most thought ist no shifting, that always a "fun" aspect of driving that i kind of dont want to miss.

i didnt quite catch how many km you can get out of a full charge, and would also be interested in charge time.

Very good report thought. thx MCN

  • GET REAL INEVER EVERN THINK OF GETTING ONE OF THESE BIKE FUCKIN POINTLESS TO me

  • someone create a cg125 style bike that does around 250miles on a charge, does 60MPH and costs about £2500 id buy one.

I find it funny when rich people complain about petrol prices i know someone at work that has a porsche 911 that costs about £70k and he complains its around £100 to fill up, its peanuts compared to the cost of the bike, just like £20 is to a £10k superbike!!

  • ne wäre mir zu gefährlich, dann würden die autofahrer mich noch weniger sehen und einfach umfahren nenene da muss der starke sound da sein..

  • The end of wheelies ;(

  • @dinkoman It wheelies just fine

  • I want one

  • I honestly think that these bikes would do better if they added artificial sound to them.

You could buy an electric bike with the engine sound of your choice...you could have downloads for your bike on iTunes, have them sound like classic Norton's and Triumphs, or even have your sports bike sound like a Harley.

  • Looks like it moves out pretty well. I'll bet it is quite odd with the lack of sound.

  • Sounds like those motorbikes from Terminator. My God that is absolutely amazing !!

  • no doubt, they will kill conventional bikes with a little development

  • Ok so thats 60p but how much for the bike? £50,000? Sounds like fun lets hope we can have a BMW 1000rr equivalent version ;-P

  • @alexskylarking no don't be daft! it's only £30,550 :) But to be fair this is not a mass production bike and the batteries needed are still expensive, with more development in the future these costs will go down. Overall this is a massive step forward for electric bikes.

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom fuck that !

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom They wont go down because when they try to sell it to the public the petrol companies will buy the patents and prohibit the massive sell like they do now.

  • @DeScRuN *Sadly*

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom plus+ you dont pay petrol :)

  • @motorcyclenewsdotcom I agree and that is why I favorite this video. It is a huge step forward, but I think for the meanwhile,at least 10 years, the low end electric bikes will be competitive in some areas. With lower end SLA batteries, the continuous cost still makes up close to equivalent, of a 50cc gas scooter, when considering fuel cost to travel vs battery cost/charge.The ones I use are 34$-50$ each at 18ah. Plenty for me and smaller systems. 2-4years life expectancy if you take care of them.

  • @luc59457 LiFeYPO4/LiFePO4 batteries are much cheaper per mile (or 1 charging cycle) than lead acid batteries. If you want the least expensive solution for electric transportation, there is only one choice - LiFePO4 or LiFeYPO4 batteries in your scooter or car.

  • @gorodph They are not cheaper initially.. For a 36v 20AH, cheapest I've seen was around $550 including shipping. If I buy locally, even more expensive (around 800$)... I get my SLA's at 20AH around here for around 200$ for the 3. Under half the price but under half the total cycles. Thus it comes to pretty close to the same at the lowest price for Lifep04's.. I had not even mentioned the lowest price for these S.L.A's. You will have to change them more often, but initially cheaper.

  • @gorodph initially cheaper and still comparable to the average priced Lifep04 in the long run.

  • I just found some 12v 20ah Tysonics at Eio for 41$ each in the USA.. That comes to 123$... Really cheap! If someone lives in China they can get 20ah SLA batteries for around 20$ each! That comes to around 60$ for 36v 20ah SLA! That really beats lifepo4 in costs initially, when buying the two types of batteries from China! (given that you live in China aka no shipping and both in USD) That means you can buy over 7 sets of SLA's in China before equaling the price of same Lifep04's.

  • @luc59457 Look at batteryspace(dot)com. There is a good comparison between different types of batteries. LiFePO4 batteries have at least 10 times longer cycle life. And Thundersky claims their new batteries (LiFeYPO4) have even more usable cycles (5000+). Then there is simply no comparison. Plus LiFeYPO4 batteries have much higher energy density. That means you can have an electric scooter with much better range than with SLA batteries...

  • @gorodph I've looked at batteryspace and many other places. The standard cycle amount is 1000+.up to 2000 under normal/low discharge rates.Claims of higher quality (more expensive) in theory you can get 3000+.I've seen claims up to 7000 but I have never used them or seen one with them to count the cycles. 7000 is a big claim, and I would expect if true, they would be very expensive.A lot more people consider initial costs. Also, range is not a big deal for most.30km is more than good enough for me

  • @luc59457 if you don't need more than 30km range on single charge, then SLA battery pack is definitely a better choice for you. I hope in 10 years there will be a battery with LiFePO4 life, LiPoly energy density and in SLA price range. Then all of us will be riding Mavizen and similar bikes. :)
