I think we can stop arguing about the taxes. The video clerly states that american colonists were rich and practicly didn't pay any taxes at all. It also states that when the taxes raised they costed the colonists 1,20 dollars per year in inviseble taxes on imports (exept for the stamps, if you can count that as a tax), and that the people of Britain payed 25 time higher taxes then the american colonists.
Can't we just agree that the colonists were treated unfair in the tax issue?
@TheN00b4Lif3 Hanniboom made it clear, Americans - not a race. Their ethnic genes originates from all over the world, where the largest groups are(2010): European(~77%), African(12,6%), native(0,9%), native Hawaiian&Pacific islander(0,2%), other(6,2).
surley these so called historians know that it was not TAX that was the problem, but being taxed without an MP (member of parliment) so without a voice they felt as slaves. also understand, these americans did not see themselves all equal either, remember that the only ones who had the right to vote after the reveloution were the landowners, if you did not own land you did not vote. the americans were englishmen who wanted to be lords like in england and felt they should be treated so.
whether it be 10 cents, or 10000 dollars...some people dont like forking over the fruits of theyr labors...some people are actually offended by being treated like subjects and slaves...imagine that
@longfootbuddy and some people are too blind to see - that the purpose of taxes are to supply infrastructure, that all ned - but noone will establish privately. Don't be fooled by the 2 santa scheme.
@tristbjorn no, some of us are smart enough to realize that these benefits are merely dog biscuits that trap most people into slavery to goverment and tyranny
pips squeak island of the coast of europe?what a knob head,we might be small, but we are the greatest nation in history, and thats a fact, the founding fathers of usa were traitors, they got the french to fight there own brtish bretheren
@owenrockdude709 the root was british tyranny..the tax is just a detail of it...this documentary obviously is the standard school tought bullshit we've all been fed...if americans ever rise up again against the tyranny of our own government, you can bet theyll be calling us mob, terrorist, lunatics too
WE ALL KNOW WHO THE REAL AMERICANS ARE THE NATIVES who where there thousands of years before the europeans came not the white people that had been there hundred years or so they where just immigrants who even after the war starting exterminasting the natives like the europeans did when they fist landed at south america 1500s
@MrJesus96 It wasn't as much as the tax as it was on how they made it, Britain just said, "We're in debt and we're going to tax you.", and that made the colonies mad because they had no say in it. The colonies went against the tax and ended it before it was official. After that Britain taxed imported goods and said only one company could sell tea to the companies, at any price, so the colonies boy-cotted, and SOL did the Boston Tea Party, ticked Britain off, so they made the Intolerable Acts.
the guy who sed "pimpsqueak island" is retarded. after the seven years war the colonists were so incredibly proud to be british that they were celebrating in the streets and would toast to the king, what the hell is he talking about
The British began to treat Americans like "subjects", not citizens. The Americans had over 150 years of self governement (since the early 1600s). They did not just sit there when the British started to treat them as subjects, the Americans had enough self respect to refuse.
This is not the case today. Americans have been conditioned to work, shut up, pay taxes, buy stuff and watch TV. It is funny to listen to commentators describe the Founding Fathers as nothing more than common agitators.
@ronpaul2008rocks How do you know what Americans where really like two centuries ago? Been going back in your time machine and chewing the fat with the average joe?
history is written by the victors. the american revolution makes this statement startlingly obvious. learning about this as a child, i thought the british were evil and tyrannical. in reality, they've just been vilified over the course of history.
@niddasa You use the word "they"...Who do you refer to when you say "they?"..And lastly, how exactly are we taxing you? If your complaint is against our government, I agree with you, but that doesn't explain how we are supposedly taxing you..I would like very much to know what you are referring to.

Looking at it, George III wasn't the best king that they had. However, he was a decent king.

How much did the American colonists pay in taxes?
What tax was passed in 1765 that provoked the formation of the political action group, The Sons of Liberty? Who organized the group?
What was a common torture imposed on colonial Loyalists? (Tories)
Who was King of England at this time? What kind of government did England have?
What happened in 1770 that Sam Adams and Paul Revere later turned into propaganda?
