  • amazing acoustics, great recording. good performance.

  • I remember singing this at school.

  • A beautifully sensitive performance of this great song by Vaughan Williams. Please sing more of Britain's/world's greatest composer.

  • This is a wonderful choral version of Linden Lea! I like the arrangement, and it's amazing how good it is without any accompaniment. Thank you very much for posting this, for there's something about the clarity and melody of Vaughan Williams' music that I simply love.

  • Beautifully sung.

  • This is beautiful. Music now a days is so stupid, they can just press the autimatic tuning button. Where's the musicianship and appretiation for classic music?

  • **In what shire is Hendon St. Mary's? I wish I lived there!**

St Mary's is the name of the church and it's in Hendon, which is not in a shire excatly....Hendon is a suburb of North London, about as far from your average rural English shire as you can get!

  • I sang This Song For A Concert Before :)

  • In what shire is Hendon St. Mary's? I wish I lived there!

  • @bardolph14

Hendon was originally a village in the county (shire) of Middlesex. Since 1886 it has been part of the administrative county of Greater London. Although the area became a London suburb in the 1920s, the area around the medieval parish church (Church End) does retain the atmosphere of a country village to some extent.

  • Ah, this is so beautiful. I wish I was a choir member.

    Thanks for sharing this. :-))

  • THIS took my breath away . No piano accompaniment , yet it sounds perfect <3 congratulations .

  • Most enjoyable. Thank you for posting this.

  • hello

  • A lovely old song, beautifully sung. My parents had a house built in Devon in 1949 and named it after this song.

  • I used to sing this at school.

  • that was so much better than I expected it to be! ha, sorry, I don't always expect much of amateur choir videos on youtube but the quality was excellent. well done!

  • Beautiful. If ever a song encapsulated the notion of an English pastoral idyll, this is it. Lovely.

  • I play this on Sax

  • Lovely version--Thanks Stu.

  • Magnificent - read somewhere years ago that this was to be unofficial 'secret' national anthem had we been invaded in 1940. Anyone any knowledge?

  • did this for a District Chorus. Lovely music that has plenty of harmony.

  • Simply lovely but sadly there does not seem anyone currently that can write such sweet music.

  • Sadly, wonderful music died with Freddy Mercury.

  • @Krendog2 what

  • What the hell has Freddy Mercury got to do with this song. This is real music friend not pomp rock from a homo!

  • @trackieben Yes, this is a good song. Just saying that MOST music nowadays (pop music) blows.

  • lovely

  • I love this song. This is the best version I've seen on youtube. Excellent. Thank you.

  • Gorgeous. RVW makes you proud to be English, doesn't he?
