  • @TheMusicandlyricz The GTR isn't a pure sports car either. It has 4 seats, automatic trans and many electronical features. A pure sports car would be something like a Lotus Exige that's 2 seater and super light weight and it has almost no comfort features, but just purely made for fun driving.

  • The explanation is all wrong: more weight is BAD at the start and not so much later (when air resistance is key), while too much power is useless at the start (cannot be put down) and useful later. Thus, according to the logic of the explanations, the result should have been reversed. Therefore, there is another logic which explains this result. Maybe the gearbox shift performance or ratios?

  • @kint909 The Bentley has more weight, but also has way more torque from its 12 cylinder engine. Torque is what accelerates the car. Horsepower/aerodynamic is more important, once the car is on roll.

  • @350zmt06 Simplifying for you, torque x RPM = horsepower. Way more torque is useless at the start where you are limited by the grip. In line with you initial thought, you might say that torque/weight is what accelerates the car, but the tires are still the limit. And if horsepower is more important once on a roll, how come the Bentley loses? I don't get your point.

  • @hansmru Nope. I've seen GT-R's launch with the launch control enabled and it definitely wasn't on here. The Bentley's W16 has monstrous torque to move that tank of a car but the launch control of the GT-R would easily get it off the line far ahead of the Bentley. They Veyron is the only stock supercar that can accelerate from a dead stop quicker than the GT-R as far as I know.

  • @guptta123 spoilers also reduce the turbulence, sometimes it actually decreases the drag rather than enhancing it, but the main reason, the spoilers come up, is to increase stability, sure it will cause a drag, but only just a wee bit, i rather drive a slow car with high stability rather than a fast one with none,

    aerodynamics are a lot more complicated than just drag, i dont know shit, youre gonna need a James May..

    but trust me, the car manufacturers, do know what their doing..

  • @kosseh Well there is a difference among both of these cars. The Nissan GTR was designed to be brutal with acceleration and a track performer, aswell as an everyday supercar. On the other hand the Bentley Supersports was designed to be a more sporty version over the base model GT, with more power whiles also keeping its luxurious style.

Fact is the 2009 GTR has 485 HP that weighs 1,749 KG, does 1/4 Mile in 11.3 Seconds. The 2009 Shelby GT500 SuperSnake has 635 HP stock only does 12.3 seconds 1.4 Mile and thats with 150 HP difference. Fact the 2009 GTR was designed for track performance, thats why it does 7:26.7 time at Nurburgring. No Mustang has hit under 8s

That's enough to help Dodge's supercar sustain a cornering load of 1.5 Gs at speeds that are superior to many GT racing cars.

Suspension, race style KW shocks all around that can be adjusted for stiffness and ride height, springs twice as stiff as in a normal Viper, and a beefier front stabilizer bar..

Advantages whether they are "barely legal" or just legal, it's the same. More horsepower than competitors is totally legal. A big wing for downforce with stickier road legal tires may be "barely legal" but still legal.

    Isn't Nissan offering a "track pack" for the GTR with more carbon fiber, less weight, stiffer suspension, and more boost/horsepower? Is that unfair? No.

You also failed to mention that they handle like crap, and as for price in 1960's was totally different to todays money, but in them days was really exspensive. If you look and do research instead of actually claiming just quarter mile times you would understand the purpose for the Nissan GTR.

  • @MasonTrance it´s not about the fact that the ZR1 runs in the 10s for the same price - it´s also the trap speed. the GTR is only fast from a standstill. and that for 110.000€ (german price tag). as for the lap time the GTR is not the king of the road either. the latest lap time for the latest GTR model was a 7:24 as you mentioned - that´s 4 full seconds slower than the latest lap time of the C6 Z06. but that´s not the point either - it´s that the GTR is computerized making it boring
