people come on its not some holy thing, the bible is used to swear in jurors so they speak the truth and only the truth. it was left at the witness stand for the witnesses because it took to long to bring it to and fro. He picked it up because it was there, it could have been a dictionary, it could have been a cook book whatever the point was there was no meaning to it otherwise they would have shown the book with the knife in it after or him looking at it while everyone was around him.

I also love Huck's demeanor in this movie. How he acts like he doesn't care about anybody or anything, but he does. And he gets so angry at Tom for breaking the oath, but you can tell he's worried about Tom.
