I used Illustrator to design the logo and to separate each element into layers that could then be imported into After Effects for individual animation--I used a stroke trick to "draw out" the strokes in the mark. If I recall (it's been a while), I used Final Cut to import the exported compositions from AE, compile the timing and tweak the editing. I did this to try to validate the multi-channel capabilities of the logo to the client, who ended up choosing something a little simpler.
