Since when I saw The Count, I think he strange that someone like him were a character in a children's program .... but as I began to see Sesame Street when I was big, I like it!
@zangazoo2007 The interlude that begins "I know you can count up to seven" is melodically based on that of Elvis's "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" ("I thought I could live without romance"). Otherwise, this song is generically-based.
Thanks for putting up the full version! I saw this on my Rock 'n Roll video, and it had the beginning and ending cut off. It's one of my favorite Sesame Street songs (in my Top Ten Favorite, anyway).
@SarBearBuckleBear: It's on DVD. I saw it at my local Walmart some months ago, just with a different cover (they replaced Little Chrissy with the Count).
Some of the best remembered songs-believe it or not-were sung by Count Von Count! How can anyone compare these toe tapping numbers (no pun) to junk like "Elmo's World"?
I was young but remember this doo-wop tune by the Count! It actually brought back a lot of positive childhood memories, which I will never forget untill the day I die!
I believe it is. The Oinker Sisters were voiced by Ivy Austin, Cheryl Hardwick, and Heidi Berg. And I can distinctly hear Ivy Austin as one of the voices (or maybe all of the voices).
I used to have this very same version on videotape, and now I have it on my iPod. I'd say that the analog to digital upgrade is considerably substantial.
I miss the days when the Count sang/played whole songs on the show, as opposed to just counting up to the number of the day...this classic proves that he could do both at once.
Okay. I remember the part with him dropping the quarter into the jukebox, but I didn't remember the part at the beginning when he was outside his castle.
Very true; a lot of the early Sesame Street songs were written with an "oldies" feel (1950s or1960s style), probably to keep the parents interested as they watched with their kids.
Man, complete with the organ intro, the one I remember from my Born to Add cassette =D If I could give this nine stars, I wouldn't ...I'd give it 10 stars Ah Ah Ah!
i cant get over the way he says -baby-

I like how that organ vamp segues us into what's going to happen next..the Count popping the coin into the jukebox and starting up the song.

Is it me or are the Oinker Sisters doing the background "doo wah" vocals, given 1:28-1:29 & 1:34-1:35?

Maestro: Just an interesting tidbit, I thought.

The voices are sped-up; it's Cerf, Jerry, and Richard. Kevin joins them later (in the non-singing part).

The opening sequence of this sketch before The Count sings "Count up to Nine" was cut from the video "Rock & Roll".

If I had written this, I would've putten a short vamp at the song's start.

Gotta love how all the lights all light up when count activates the jukebox with the quarter he inserted in the coin slot.
tpirman1982 2 years ago 2
Yep, reminds me of the classic Wurlitzer 1015 jukebox.

Oh, is that right? Well that's nice.
finnishminnow 2 years ago 2
One of Count von Count's greatest hits. I especially love the sound effects with the thunder, lightning, and howling wolf in the background.

Don't forget the sound effects when Count inserts the quarter into the coin slot on the jukebox.
tpirman1982 2 years ago 2
Oh yes, I love those old-style jukeboxes. I wouldn't mind owning one of those myself. (if I could ever afford one that is)
654zns 2 years ago 2
You bet, you never would hear those sound effects with a real jukebox.
