  • i cant get over the way he says -baby-

    (wolf whistle)

  • Whenever I hear this song, it kind of reminds me of "Earth Angel".

  • the count avoids 0 and 10

  • Ya know.... I love halloween and nothing really scares me.... except the count. If i saw him in a dark alley late at night, I would piss myself.

  • Ahhh the proper way to see this sketch. :-)

  • Damn! Utterly epic! One of the all-time great Sesame Street skits ever published! Thank you!

  • Since when I saw The Count, I think he strange that someone like him were a character in a children's program .... but as I began to see Sesame Street when I was big, I like it!

  • Classic!

  • You better sang it Count!

  • was this parody of a song?

  • @bart11114 you mean what is the original song this parody is based on? :-) I'd like to know too

  • @zangazoo2007 The interlude that begins "I know you can count up to seven" is melodically based on that of Elvis's "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" ("I thought I could live without romance"). Otherwise, this song is generically-based.

  • @rambam1204 Never knew that. Pretty cool.

  • @bart11114

Reminds me a little of "Earth Angel".

  • count the pimp lol

  • What is up with the howling part???

  • Ffff. I'd count up to nine for him any day. <3

  • Thanks for putting up the full version! I saw this on my Rock 'n Roll video, and it had the beginning and ending cut off. It's one of my favorite Sesame Street songs (in my Top Ten Favorite, anyway).

  • @TelephoneRock4ever rock'n'roll video. omg i have that aswell, i cant find it on dvd anywhere and never want to throw out the vhs :p

  • @SarBearBuckleBear: It's on DVD. I saw it at my local Walmart some months ago, just with a different cover (they replaced Little Chrissy with the Count).

  • this has been stuck in my head since I was like 3

  • yeah, love this!!!!

  • This is probably inspired by Earth Angel...listen to both they sound very similiar!

  • Some of the best remembered songs-believe it or not-were sung by Count Von Count! How can anyone compare these toe tapping numbers (no pun) to junk like "Elmo's World"?

  • I was young but remember this doo-wop tune by the Count! It actually brought back a lot of positive childhood memories, which I will never forget untill the day I die!

  • I like how that organ vamp segues us into what's going to happen next..the Count popping the coin into the jukebox and starting up the song.

  • Is it me or are the Oinker Sisters doing the background "doo wah" vocals, given 1:28-1:29 & 1:34-1:35?

  • Comment removed

  • I believe it is. The Oinker Sisters were voiced by Ivy Austin, Cheryl Hardwick, and Heidi Berg. And I can distinctly hear Ivy Austin as one of the voices (or maybe all of the voices).

  • Maestro: Just an interesting tidbit, I thought.

  • The voices are sped-up; it's Cerf, Jerry, and Richard. Kevin joins them later (in the non-singing part).

  • Oh, right, they're BATS.

  • They weren't around at this time.

  • MarshalGrover: Still, it sounds like them at some points, though.

  • ...I think I've found the reason I had a massive crush on the Count when I was little =|

  • @lilacpilgrim13 Hey the Count just came to know about that! And guess what he's still a hunk ;)

  • This is AWESOME! :-) Thanks.

  • The opening sequence of this sketch before The Count sings "Count up to Nine" was cut from the video "Rock & Roll".

  • I used to have this very same version on videotape, and now I have it on my iPod. I'd say that the analog to digital upgrade is considerably substantial.

  • If I had written this, I would've putten a short vamp at the song's start.

  • There IS a short vamp at the start, the organ intro.

  • Gotta love how all the lights all light up when count activates the jukebox with the quarter he inserted in the coin slot.

  • Yep, reminds me of the classic Wurlitzer 1015 jukebox.

  • Thanks for posting the full version.

  • Yeah thanks, the other versions on here eliminate the opening sequence.

  • Oh, is that right? Well that's nice.

  • One of Count von Count's greatest hits. I especially love the sound effects with the thunder, lightning, and howling wolf in the background.

  • Don't forget the sound effects when Count inserts the quarter into the coin slot on the jukebox.

  • Oh yes, I love those old-style jukeboxes. I wouldn't mind owning one of those myself. (if I could ever afford one that is)

  • You bet, you never would hear those sound effects with a real jukebox.

  • No way.

  • Yeah, me too!

  • I miss the days when the Count sang/played whole songs on the show, as opposed to just counting up to the number of the day...this classic proves that he could do both at once.

  • I am assuming this was made in the 1970s, am I right?

  • @wiley207: Yep, 1977.

  • @wiley207 Well, not quite. This could have been published at the very beginning of the '80s.

  • Thanks for the full version, I sure do appreciate it!!

  • Me too.

  • Okay. I remember the part with him dropping the quarter into the jukebox, but I didn't remember the part at the beginning when he was outside his castle.

  • Same deal with me..I only remember him dropping the coin into the jukebox.

  • 50's music soundalike

  • Very true; a lot of the early Sesame Street songs were written with an "oldies" feel (1950s or1960s style), probably to keep the parents interested as they watched with their kids.

  • Gotta love those old doo-wop songs!

  • I also hear the "Doo-Wop" part on this song at least a few times.

  • This is my favorite song by the count and it brings back so many memories.... thanks for posting this one

  • This is such a weird but fun Sesame Street Song. I dinstinctly remember hearing it as a little kid - it's unforgettable in a very strange way.

  • this one I don't remember, musta been after about `75, that's when I started moving on.. I was 7

  • I love this song!!!!

  • So do I, it's my favorite Sesame Street song of all time.

  • Thank you for the full version. It's such a catchy song!

  • Something about that ending is just creepy.

  • Especially with that creepy flute playing at the end.

  • Man, complete with the organ intro, the one I remember from my Born to Add cassette =D If I could give this nine stars, I wouldn't ...I'd give it 10 stars Ah Ah Ah!
