  • how do you find it - does it sound different than classic american std strat?

  • is it possible to replace the 6 screw on trem with a 2 point trem or hardtail bridge?

  • I just got a very similar guitar and one of the pickups is very quiet. I am not sure if its supposed to be that way or if its faulty. It only seems normal when i have it plugged into the distortion pedal. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw a fender like this but it had binding. Can someone PLEASE!!!!!!!!! tell me what its called!!!!!!

  • is it just me or do i have a boner everytime i see a all black strat

  • damn i really thought he was gonna play Heart of the Sunrise at the beginning there...

  • that guy looks like the guy from the whitest kids u know

  • This is a GREAT guitar! Got mine for xmas and have bought 2 more strats this year, Fender's are addictive!

  • hey what's that song from 1:38?

did andy make this one up too?

  • Only 150 made? I bought one in Edmonton 2 months ago, then 2 days later seen one in a different store. A week after buying, the original store had another one to replace it. Not sure about the white ones.

Meh, don;t really care. I had an all Black Jap one in highschool that I parted with and have been looking to replace ever since. This is about as close to that one that I have seen. Gorgeous. It was only 50 bucks more than a normal American Standard.

Now if they just made a Tele version.

  • Hey Andy, brilliant demo of the strat, really love it and i'm sure you'll sell loads. Use that money to get a new shirt, this one looks a tad bit too tight! HAHA

  • i hope the next wave of american standards have nitro finish, better color choices like fiesta red, daphne blue, surf green (come on!! charcoal frost, blizzard pearl? WTF!) , full size vintage spec trem block (cold rolled steel shallow string recesses), and maybe non staggered pickup poles for a better string balance. staggered poles were designed with 7.25 radius and wound G strings in mind. if fender could put those features as "standard", they would be near perfect.

  • @PopExpo check out the fsr 2010 thin skin colors on musicians friend

  • nice demo Andy....hey do you ship overseas, like India, if yes what will be the extra charge(s).thanks

  • Awesome look! DARK!! anyway, will it work if i replace the white pickguard on the MIM Fender Strat with a black one to have its look?

  • can someone answer me if the 9.5" radius neck are fat, thin or middle?

  • @Dorillo76 - 9.5" radius doesn't refer to neck size, it refers to degree of fretboard curvature, with a higher number indicating a flatter fretboard. 9.5" is right in the middle. Regarding the neck, this one had a Modern "C" shape neck, which is right in the middle, fatness-wise. Hope that helps!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos well, helped a lot, thank you :D

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Is a neck with a larger fretboard radius physically bigger, or at least wider, than a neck with a smaller fretboard radius? For example would the neck on my Charvel (12"-16" compound radius) be physically bigger (not the thickness) than a Strat with a 7.25" radius fretboard?

  • @WoWintosh - You would find that a 12-16" radius fretboard ( on a Charvel or Ibanez, or something similar) would feel noticeably wider than a vintage Strat or Tele style fretboard.

  • Andy, you frickin' rock 100%. I love the videos!

  • Andy, can i ask you which amp are you playing through? Sounds great....

  • what are the songs you play?

  • hell yes i just got my ivory one today, not from this shop. Its amazing, have no idea how anyone could like the black one, looks like complete shit.

  • hey PGS....just wanted to say my ebony strat arrived yesterday, safe n' sound, black n' beautiful. thanks for the smooth sale! hope to do business with you again some day.

  • @extplay - Very cool, glad to hear all is well. Have fun with the new axe, and thank you!

    -PGS Crew

  • I have an american standard strat that I just set up for .11 strings.

But now, when I use the whammy bar, all my strings go sharp for almost a quarter step!

do you have any idea what causes this?

PS: I have tried out the regular tricks like graphite etc.

    Thanks

  • I think PGS should consider investing in a HD camera. The best guitar (and gear) demo's on the internet warrant it I think....

  • @dontfunkaround - We actually do have HD capabilities, it's more a lack of time that's the problem. Rendering HD video takes longer, meaning we wouldn't be able to produce videos at the rate we currently do. We are working on it though, so fear not. Thanks for watching!

  • Ivory looks Hendrix and Ebony Classy!

  • Are using a compression pedal or have you just developed a very fluid and even fingerpicking technique?

  • At last they're not relic..:) immaculate!:)

  • Wow, I never noticed you don't use a flat pick. That's cool Andy!

  • Is the amp you're playing the strat through, a DRRI?

  • hope i'm not being too picky, but i think the demos sound better at 480p or more. still the best demos on the web, tho.

  • Freakin' awesome!

Does Andy play in a band or anything? Session Musician? Or is he all PGS' exclusively and casually...

  • I like the black one. at 150 made each it's gonna be hard to get your hands on one.

  • You should put an annotation telling what song you're playing! That would be awesome

  • Why don't they use Nitro much anymore? Didn't they used to?

  • this may be a really stupid question but what does fsr stand for

  • @theaceofspadesjl - Fender Special Run, according to the Fender website.

    -PGS

  • Love the tone and all, but I can't get behind the matching headstock on the Ivory one - just looks wrong when you've all that lovely maple on the neck ...

Anyway I've been totally spoiled since I re-watched your G&L ASAT Special vids. Yummy

  • It sounds very different.

  • Is it just me, or does Fender have an endless supply of limited edition guitars?

  • anybody know how much this costs and how many are made?

  • @Magoooobly - These are limited to 150 of each color, and are conveniently available for sale on our website. Thanks!

    -PGS Crew

  • thats the fattest sounding strat i've ever heard! i dig it.

  • looks gorgeous

  • i really love that riff at 1:37 ,

is it from any song or something?

    btw great review (=

  • Wow... The matching headstock makes it look really nice.

  • from 3:05 to 3:15 it sounded SO SWEET!

  • the blackie is just gorgeous...holy shit

  • I prefer my limited Edition Silverburst one! But I would kill for that painted headstock.

  • Aren't all American Strats Nitro?

  • @smoss469 Good question! No, the American Standard and Deluxe are Urethane

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos What's the big difference?

  • Andy, i love how you say "both" and "vocal"

  • Damn you pgs, I have already bought two guitars this month, it would be nut's to buy another one. But this is pretty much the strat I've been looking for. : (

  • They call it the "EBONY and Ivory" run and then put a rosewood fingerboard on? Teases. :P Gotta love the matching headstock and 3-ply pickguard.

  • Actually no, I can't find it on the website. ;)

  • aaah that such a sweet sound...what would i give to have that sound in my room, would never leave the room :D

  • Beautiful Guitar¡¡¡

  • $1000 isnt bad for a limited run. i'm out of my fender phase though, and i'm all about schecter now.

  • I really dont like the new Fender 2 point tremolos...

  • proguitarshop,com/store/guitars-fender-guitars-c-2/fender-limited-edition-ebony-fsr-american-standard-stratocaster-p-2179

  • ima buy one maybe

  • was the strat the first guitar fender made? or the telecaster

  • @LmaoItSucks tele was made in 52' and the first strat was in 54'

  • @LmaoItSucks tele

  • @LmaoItSucks Everyone here is incorrect, the first guitar ever made by the Fender Corporation were the Lap Steel variations ( you can google that if you want) After doing lap steels, he designed the esquire (a tele with only one pickup) he then added another pickup to get the broadcaster, which eventually changed into the Telecaster, then the precision bass, then the Stratocaster, then the Jazz bass, then the jazzmaster, then jaguar, then mustang.

  • @legumes12 Close, except the Jazzmaster was before the Jazz bass.

  • I know this is a subjective question and has been debated to death, but in your opinion does the finish really have that much effect on tone?

  • Ivory nitro strat = sexiness beyond comprehension. Imagine that thing in about 35 years... o.O

  • WHat's the song around 1:45?

  • What I love the most is that they used the small headstock for these guitars

  • That Black Head-Stock is Sexy.

  • whats the song from 1:40? someone tell me who its by cos its awesome

  • No lefthanded version I presume. :-(((((

  • @kkeulena They're always leavin us Leftys out. I know how ya feel.

  • @kkeulena I'm a righty, and I feel real bad for you guys, they should have a left-handed model for every guitar they produce, tough luck man. You could always jimi it, you know, flip it upside down and restring it, but intunation may get a little weird without some altering. Sorry man.

  • @legumes12 Thanks for the advice but I allready did that with a 80's japanese strat (big headstock, three screws neck-to-body fixation) and I adapted the intonation. But the tone knobs are bothering me when playing and I cannot profit from the body shape of the guitar. Fender has a custom shop so I would suppose they could make the white version in this vid also as a lefty but I fear the price level. Well I guess I'll just noodle on with what I've got. ;-)))

  • 2:50 sounds like sympathy for the devil

  • HotRod!

  • the ivory one is awsome!!!!

  • nitro sellyooyose finish eh?

  • Hey PGS! Did you guys do something different with the audio recording. Cos I can hear a slight difference in other videos.

  • does a nitro finish mean that the guitar will age like the originals do? cause if so, thats awesome

  • @menga111 Yes this will age just like the vintage Fenders.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos sweeeeet

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Its about time they started doing this. I've been waiting for a new run with nitro finishes. Maybe they've done it before I just didn't know about it.

  • i like the song at 2:30 . what is it? it sounds like a hybrid "so far away" from dire straits. love your demos!

  • Damn, I seriously wish this came with a 12" radius, it'd be perfect!!!

  • Lol ... preety pointless arguement happening below me. Anyway awesome guitar, I love the sounds coming from all the pickups.

  • Nice Hendrix references.

  • My comment refers to the neckt

  • i think the Ivory Strat would be a bit more brighter

  • @TheKuroH I hope you're not serious. I suppose you believe white paint will sound "brighter" than black paint?

  • @moucon No I'm talking necks man. The necks make a big difference on how it sounds. If it's maple on maple you get a brighter tone. If rose wood and maple it's standard. I've played 2 guitars same structure and exact same set up but one rose wood and all maple. They sound totally different from each other! If you thought I was referring to color you are certainly wrong! That's kinda rasist the way you think it is

  • @TheKuroH The wood difference affecting the tone part is true but, racism? Really? Are you even serious?

  • so many fenders and g&l's

  • @JD0GxAUDI0 That's where the good stuff is.

  • @JD0GxAUDI0 I know, I love it
