Instead of just walking for 3 minutes, wouldn't it be better to watch your heart rate during the rest time and just run again when it gets to a certain lower level?
It should be noted that if you are planning to lift weights right after cardio heart rate is essential to make the distinction between aerobic or anaerobic. Running this fast should not be done a lot before a weight routine. You would then be doing anaerobic to anaerobic.
