@OtakuXxChan It can be hard at first, you have to get pretty creative sometime! I promise I will have a new vid soon, cage cleaning day is tomorrow so hopefully then, and you can have a better look at how I arrange mine.
@cinemageek yea it's really hard XP I just made some new liners, but I have to make more hammocks so that the ones in there can be washed... but since I have no idea how I'm going to decorate I can't make the hammocks XD
yay I can't wait to see how you decorate yours! I've tried to get ideas from a forum called Goosemoose (lol I don't know if you know about it) since they have a Martin's thread, but theres too many ideas that I can't decide which to choose X_x
@OtakuXxChan I have been a member of GooseMoose for a few years now! GREAT rat care info on there. You can buy hammocks from the sellers on there if you can't sew (like me!). I might have contributed to that Martin's thread, I think I did at some point. I have the same name on there.
@cinemageek I bought a hammock set from one of the sellers for my cage, their the ones that were in there first and now they're in the laundry XP the hammocks I made came out pretty good but i dont think i put them in the best places in the cage X_x and i think i saw your cage on there after i looked for u ^-^ and i agree on the great info they have, the martins thread inspired me to get my RUUD >w<
I always buy hammocks from sellers on there because I can't sew at all! o_o I wish I could. If I ever find the time I suppose I'll buy a sewing machine and learn to use it. Hope you're liking your Ruud!
It is very easy to assemble. It came in a long "flat-pack" type of box. It comes with 3 sides already together with C-clamps, and I attached the front/folded out and attached the floors with zip ties. Took about 30 mins total to assemble.
@cinemageek oh, ok. Probably better and cheaper than critter nation I have been reading people end up wanting to pull their hair out during the assembly process.
If I didn't have this cage, I would have a Critter Nation. I just preferred a cage that went all the way to the ground instead of up on a stand. CN also wasn't available when I got this cage; the FN was all there was and I didn't want to modify it with hardware cloth to prevent my ladies from squeezing through the bars. :)
I got the powder-coated one. It is treated with a fine layer of power stuff that forms a coating on the bars. It is MUCH better than galvanized (which is simply metal with no coating).
The powder coated won't rust, is better for ratty feet and is easier to clean. This one is a Martin's Cages model R-699.
How do you like the cage because I am thinking about getting one, I was wodnering how you open the cage because i see those white zip tie like things that I am wondering about, could u make another video with a little bit more lighting and more detailed because I am very interested thank you very much =]
could you make an updated video of the cage? :)

@cinemageek it also looks nicer with all the floor space instead of everything being open ;)

great looking cage but im a lil skeptical about the pvc coating. have any gnawing problems with it yet?
praetorian2150 2 years ago
It's not PVC, it's powder coated; I'm sure they would have had a few chews if it were PVC. They haven't chewed the cage or the bottom pan at all.
cinemageek 2 years ago
ok thx, i thought maybe they chew, get sick, whole lotta problems ensue type of thing. thx for the info
praetorian2150 2 years ago
No problem. Powder coated is definitely the way to go with rat cages!
cinemageek 2 years ago
ok thx, def worth the money then, check
praetorian2150 2 years ago
where did u buy that?

you only have three girls in there? i got three girls in my SP exotics cage.
bcdrummer 3 years ago
Well, I did, then I had 3 girls and 1 boy, now I'm down to 2 girls and 1 boy. I am OK with having up to 6 rats, but I'm good with 3 as well.
More room for them to run around between free range time. :)

Wow! i oficially LOVE your cage! =D
