Heya guys. Quite a few years ago I was lucky enough to go out for dinner with Arthur Baker, who produced most of the tracks in Beat Street (as you all probably know), anyway - I asked him about the tune that the Fantastic Duo are dancing to, that later appears briefly in the Kool Herc 'Burning Spear' club....it took him a while to remember what I was talking about, but it turns out that it was just an instrumental that he made for Beat Street, and it never actually got a release. Annoying.
My Mom, WANDA DEE is Hip Hop's 1st female DJ (see "BEAT STREET"), 1st female inductee into The Universal Zulu Nation by her DJ mentor, AFRIKA BAMBAATAA himself, the 1st glamorous female rapper, the 1st female rapper to go platinum, & that was all in the 80's. In the 90's, she went on to become the lead singer / songwriter of the British Techno/Pop group, THE KLF, w/25 million records sold, platinum in 77 countries & SRO shows in 90 countries, 150 cities & 6 continents; she is truly The Goddess!
you can now do a youtube search by typing his full name (Richard Lee Sisco Jr.) and you will find a song with him and Victor Valente playing the sax. Dope Track.
@bboygarrick My bad! The FANTASTIC DUO!! hehehe.... I wanna see that clip of them in Beat Street. Plus does anybody kno the name of that song they dancing on??
for the record Wanda Dee was not the first hip hop dj. dj la spank from the mercedis ladies was the first. Wanda Dee was the first lady dj to join the Zulu Nation.
Richard Lee Sisco aka Sisco Kid my big brother has just past away today feb 20 1960 - Dec. 14, 2010
