X-firefighter now full-time potter, not good to have heated lamp oil-could get close to ignition temp and poof (bad) try the new liquid waxes (Plainsman in Canada)
Hi there glad you like my clips ....the lamp oil or paraffin thins the wax down so it flows better off the brush ,it can become 'claggy' on the brush otherwise & goes hard before you can apply it.Wax drips are difficult to remove ,so dont make any ! scratching them off/out is the only way I think ?!
what is the purpose of the lamp oil? is it to thin the wax so it burns off easier? also what is your method for removing unwanted wax drips? p.s. love your videos
when you are done glazing do you just peel off the wax?

Wax fumes cannot be good for you and I see those fumes being drawn away from you. Window open or a fan?

Did you say you don't glaze the outside? Is there a reason?
Thanks

Hi Hilary - lamp oil is good in my experience , but only a small amount 15-20% .
Of course there is risk of it all going up in flames if we forget we are cooking it !
but hey,! fire is our life , our kilns too are potentially very dangerous !!
I have used liquid waxes before but found them not as good as real wax, but thanks for the comment. Good potting SL
