Right. Law enforcement, if you must shut it down, then just show up, make your announcement (and try to project as little cop-tude as possible), and don't arrest anybody who isn't actually causing trouble.

And to the ravers: if you get shut down, just leave. Maybe offer to come back and clean up. Always clean up if you can. It confounds stereotypes, wins friends among the persuadable, and drives the haters nucking futs!

I feel so honored to have been a part of the rave scene before it was mainstream back in 1992. This is when raves first came out at all and they were super, super underground. I remember it was like a scavenger hunt trying to even find where it was cause they didn't want them to get busted. There would be a number on the flier. U called the number, got the first location. At that location there was another number, call that, get 2nd location, go there then finally get the address to the rave!
