  • Rest in Peace-Arthur C Clarke !

I Loved your shows Mysterious World,Universe and powers.

  • Thanks for all your pages that helped me to cope with life in hard moments.

  • Great words from a great man.

  • When he said goodbye, it just felt as if it was one of his last.

  • what a beautiful soul. Sir Clarke, i salute you!

  • Thank you sir Arthur, thank you.

  • He was a good man

  • I cried when I found out he was dead. I was on the way to karate. I found out on the radio, ten minutes after it happened. I saved his obituary in the Washington Post. It is in my bedroom.

  • I am a avid reader of Sir Arthur C Clarke

i agree with all of his visions and using electrical energy instead of oil.

Most of what Arthur said is coming true in

quantum physics, string theory and many dimensions. One day in time the people of Earth will transform to level #1and then to Level#2 when that happens we will be immortal. And yes we will be joined together in PEACE with many others in the UNIVERSE

Once the Human Genome is fixed we will live for a much longer time to visit the Universe

  • not bad for 90.

  • what a great guy...I've just re-read Childhood,s End, after twenty years and it completely blew me away a second time.

    Here's to Arthur

  • RIP

  • by this time only his head was alive

  • We are all one and yes my friend...the ET is real .....may god except your soul,,thank you for your dedication and persistance..

imagination is a wonderful thing to have!

Thank Arthur for the idea that the imagination could really invent new things and bring them into reality.

    Thanks Arty!!!!!!

  • What a great man. I never met him but miss him. On his 90th birthday he wanted to give us his wisdom and understanding of the world. I have been told that there are two ways of living that become apparent in old age. One is of compassion and the other is of selfishness. Listening to Arthur C. Clark struggle to give us his last breaths is heartwarming.

  • rip

  • Clarke may have been closer/truth of Mars than our scientists. Obtain photo, Panoramic View, color, VICTORIA CRATER, MARS. Wikipedia/NASA/JPL sites. Exp. 500%.

Look shadows left beneath cliffs, not far down ROAD. Huge "Boulder" fallen from base above, crushing STAIRCASE, right. 2 FOUNTAINS: Grey, angular; Tan hexagonal, birdbath style. BLACK PIPE w/White Patch leads from hole in cliff, connected to founts. SEE? Small brown PYRAMID.

3rd FOUNTAIN/Cistern in rd, not far down. SEE? Wheels.

    MORE!!

  • I have read the Space Odyssey books, the Rama Series, Hammer of God, Childhoods End, Times Eye, and I enjoyed all of them!

His mind and imagination was a treasure to the world, he will be greatly missed.

  • Man, the Space Odyssey books kicked so much ass.

Who doesn't love this man? His books are so exciting yet informative and easily enjoyable :D.

  • I can't watch this video without crying :(

    We will remember you always!

  • I agree so very much.

  • I like the saying "You know you're getting old, when candles cost more than the cake " quoted from Bob Hope...

  • I was dead in the center of Childhood's End when Arthur C. Clarke died.

Sometimes I just sit on my computer watching his videos. Just listening to him talk soothes me.

    Miss you, biped.

  • This is one plainum nigga he be speakin over every rap beat and he always be on beat i think this be the most og nigga on all of youtube

  • i like the cut of your jib.

  • This gave me a "holly shit, I live in the future!" kinda feeling because, i know its stupid, i thought it was weird to have 90 years old people that understand technology so well. dum dum dum

    anyway awesome guy etc

  • Why do we block some negative comments? I am as curious to read the smart comments as the idiotic ones. We should not hide these as they are windows into the enlightenment and remaining idiocy in human nature. Peace...

  • It's a shame Arthur's third wish has yet to be granted. :(

  • The Tamil Tigers have been defeated and dismantled, have they not? Isn't this what he referred to?

  • No, it wasn't.

He wished peace for Sri Lanka, not the killing of even more innocent civilians, now forced to live under the rule of a hostile government.

  • Sad, but there's a line for all that and no turnstile to find.

  • Hi frajiki

It is true now..already granted 2 months ago...

  • RIP

  • great video

  • Bouncingship. My view was clealy expressed in my comment. and ,sad though the truth, may be you have provided nothing ,in response, of any significance. whatsoever..

  • Bouncingship. No! Just a realist.

  • a realist? so what are your views? explain...

all the time in the world buddy

  • , Surprising there was no other

response to recent ommensts on his sexuality. I recall his open admission on TV to staying in Sri Lanka because of the ready availability of young boys. Brilliant writer, and thinker no doubt, but also a disgusting self confessed pervert, .Being "gay" is one thing, corrupting young , usually poverty stricken, innocents is another.

  • what are you? a fucking terrorist?

  • yes, just as i was watching this video, i could not help but wonder why he moved there

  • What the heck are you on about? "2001" was a superb piece of imaginative writing, and, might I add, made far more sense than the movie. And it's my favourite film ever, no less.

  • I think both the book and the film have their strong points. Overall, I would prefer the film, but the book is phenomenal. I wouldn't change a word of it.

  • A year after he's gone, I remember him again for 2001: a space odyssey great masterpiece!

    R.I.P.

  • Thank-you for posting - Arthur was a man who made his history and inspired many.

    Alex.

  • "I hope we have learned something from the most barbaric century in history, the 20th. I would like to see us to overcome our tribal divisions..."

  • we salute you A.C.Clarke

  • Journalists who inquired of Clarke whether he was gay were told, "No, merely mildly cheerful." However, Michael Moorcock has written, "Everyone knew Arthur was gay. In the 1950s I'd go out drinking with his boyfriend. We met his proteges, western and eastern, and their families: people who had only the most generous praise for his kindness. Self-absorbed he might be, and a teetotaller, but an impeccable gent through and through." R.I.P. old buddy.

  • Great man love to watch is programs.

  • The hardest part of being an atheist is that you often wish there was heaven for those you love and respect...........

  • mate there is, i'm not criticzing you, your free to belive in what you want to belive

  • After the camera turned off, Clarke probably turned to his most trusted servant and said something like, ""Bring me that young fellow, the one with the lovely eyes. Drug him well. I don't feel like wrestling."

  • Lol, you're a rascal but I couldn't help laughing. There's probably some degree of truth in your imagining. LMAO!

  • Oh you people with the thumbs down business need to lighten up and laugh a little. I am an Arthur C Clarke fan and I think Arthur would have the common sense to laugh right along witht eh rest of us. Stop with the hate and laugh a little...it keeps you young and makes you stronger. Light, love and blessings to the Clark family.

  • advancedathiest, I think your comparisons of A.C. Clark to the Baron Harkonnen are amusing but ill placed.

  • arthur c clarke, issac asimov and frank herbert the three greats of sci fi and fact

  • He certainley was a genius, but in his TV series he came across as a sceptic,as though if science could not explain it, then it probably didnt happen.

  • brilliant brilliant man

  • Thank you very much Arthur. In part because your books I've become a scientist.

  • q lixo odiei

  • This was very moving. Arthur C. Clarke is a writer I admire very much. Even though I have only read a few of his work so far, I can say without hesitation that he was a genius and I can only imagine people's gratefulness for him and his contribution to literature and mankind will grow as time goes on.

Thank you, Sir Clarke. Thank you!

    And be at peace.

  • this is sad to see him go, i only read childhoods end a month before i found out he passed, i can't believe somebody with such vivid dreams has just passed, rip Sir Arthur C. Clarke, you have changed my life and hopefully many others.

  • Rest in peace, Maestro! Thank you for everything that you were, for all these visions and adventures, that made my life a bit happier. We all love you! We miss you!

Lots of wise thoughts there even at such a ripe age. I wish him the best possible ride through his grand finalé years.

    -------------

    OT:

This made me feel sad inside. For a moment there, I imagined myself in his shoes, on the edge of logging out from this world. If I live the way I currently am, I'll regret alot of things when daydreaming about the past like he does. From now on, If need be, I'll take more opportunities, try more things and spread more love.

  • fanx sir! u r de greatest scienctist last century,,,

  • Happy Birthday Arthur C. Clarke!

  • God and Jesus loves you ! They'll take very good care of you . Rest in peace.

  • Arthur was an atheist. He hated all those ill minded religious fanatics.

Please do not refer Arthur to any Religion.

    Alex.

  • Except no-one mentioned "religion"! The guy said that God and Jesus love him! Which they do!

    Jesus is LORD.

    Peace.

    You will be Missed.

  • hah! you're old

  • Funny you say that, since he was an atheist.

  • Jesus loves you! Please repent!

  • This guy, is a gem returned to God. Peace on to him.

  • Clarke was a complete atheist/materialist with no religious or superstitious beliefs.

  • Farewell good sir. With the blessings of the Triple Gem.

  • that was so sad ,,,,he knew he had not long left on this mortal coil,,,,,

  • I really got the chills when he bid farevell at the end. Like a beautiful old and tired tide of geniosity and intelligence gently washing on a beautiful peaceful beach. You took us on the edge of imagination. All we can is to heartwarmingly thank you. You won't be forgotten - rest in peace.

  • RIP Aurther... you have taught us so much

  • 1. 2001

    2. Rendezvous with Rama

    3. The City and the Stars

    4. Childhood's End

It's a mysterious world. RIP the best sci-fi writer since H.G. Wells.

  • I didn't know he passed away, what a free mind and great man. Thank you so much for opening mine a little bit.

  • What an amazing man, what an amazing mind. I just learned he passed. At the same time, I heard about this farewell video. Thank you for posting it, and thank you to Mr. Clarke for all his wonderful words and ideas.

  • I had no idea he died! And I just did a report on him in like February! I am shocked and really sad. Jeez, I had no idea...this sucks. Now the only survivor from the great trio of minds is Hawking, now that Sagan and Clarke are dead. Who knows when Hawking will drop dead?

  • You must have finished your report before he died, because he died in March. It's too bad - but he lived a long life and was an extraordinarily prolific author.

  • Bless your Heart Sir Arthur.

    What a wondeful Gentleman you

were & thank you so much for your

fantastic insight & for what you have

added to humanity & I only hope we all

follow your lead!!! Thank You Sir Arthur!!!!

  • 90!!

  • It's more people like this that we need to excel as a human race! Extraordinary Being!

  • yes, this is really sad

    R.I.P

  • God bless you arthur!

    Whatever 'God' should mean.

Excellent human being and visionary and someone who thought us that we can live in harmony with our technological mastery in harmony with the Earth and each other and that a glorious technological future awaits the human race which is a positive theme that runs in all his books and media appearances.

Sri Lanka's most famous resident since the 1950s. Sri Lanka and the world will deeply miss him!

  • we should work on the wishes of this great man.

  • He didn't die; he just went home.

  • I'm an athiest, just like Arthur.

    God bless him.

  • lol

  • This man makes me proud to be a human being

  • Oh my god its full of stars!-David Bowman. Arthur C. Clarke has become the starchild himself now that he has passed on to the next plain.

  • I love to see people who still in their old days have mind sharp as razor. Thats a goal to head for. Rest in peace...

  • Job 12:12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

  • A lovely man with a noble vision, Arthur Clarke was a benevolent and generous uncle for all of us.

His great dream, his grand wish, was for humanity to wake up from our primitive impulses, which proved an asset before but are now an onerous and dangerous burden. A way to achieve the enlightenment we are capable of, would be by realizing via irrefutable proof, that life exists elsewhere.

I love his dream. I dream of his dream and have made it my own.

Bless you, Mr Clarke, and good night.

  • well put!

  • WHOS GOD HIS GOD?

  • What made him so great was that he reached out. He always wanted to talk, share and inform. I don't think that anybody can replace that sense of openness. Here's to vivid dreams...!

  • I sure am going too miss his wonderful way at looking at things. He has been an insperation too me for a very long time, and will live on in my memories.

  • He was a real great writer.

    Look I see 2010 :)

  • Another Great Man has left us. May he Rests In Peace.

Sir Arthur, thank you for everything you've given us. God Bless You!

  • Sir Clark, good night but not good bye.Thank you for all you have given us.

  • I'm French and this morning, we saw this video in english class! He say on our memory because he has done great thinks.

My teacher would never show a paris hilton vidéo , thats the difference xD

    ^^

  • A greate man, r.i.p. Arthur.

  • More people would care if Paris Hilton died.

Hell look how many people were falling over themselves when Heath Ledger died.

  • I for one shall much miss Arthur C. Clark. He did indeed both entertain me and stretch my mind. I would be a lesser man were it not for his life.

  • He took me to far away places and introduced me to strange new beings. He made me younger as I grew older. Life goes on, but not as bright as before. RIP Arthur.

  • What a great thinker he was. He inspired millions with hope for the future. R.I.P.

  • to interrupt this bizarre argument - i want to say i have been and forever will be inspired by this great man.

  • it is bizzare but then you should look to other peoples derogatory statements and baseless accusations of arthur c clarke and then you will understand how this "bizzare argument" came about.

  • whats the point? the man is dead. he made MASSIVE contributions to humankind.

  • i agree with you jr

  • people greg jocka is a gay troll who I think was abused by a man as a young child, if you look at his page he has naked men and body builders , he is very angry and I think that is why he is trolling here with his obsessive allegations against clarke, i feel pity for him.

  • gregjocka said "you wouldn't know pseudoscience it dropped onto your five-month-old baby and crushed him to death." there seems to be a common thread with you, you are obsessed with peadophillia and now you talking about 5 month old babies, do you have something to confess, maybe we should call the authorities, it seems you have an unhealthy interest in young children.

  • no no, i didnt say everything that i have said is wrong, and I was not referring to the peado allegations of arthur c clarke, unlike you I do not believe to possess absolute truth, you profess to have this truth of arthur clarkes activities but yet you provide no evidence for your allegations, I think you are just a troll trying to wind people up.

  • your logic is insane, what you are doing is using a non sequitur, he was implying because peadophiles have gone free therefore arthur c clarke is guilty, that is called a non sequitur and no evidence has been provided that arthur clarke was a peado, if you make allegations then you should back them up with evidence, he was an alleged peado and he was cleared, therefore they were unproven allegations, that does not mean he was innocent, you are calling someone peado but you provide no evidence.

  • sorry i meant german

  • Now I am humble enough to admit if I am wrong, so it would be interesting to know what his supporters and detractors both feel about his contributions.

  • Greg,

I am truly sorry for what that man did to you as a child. It is profoundly sad. However, focusing your anger on Clarke after his death is pointless and sad. I wish you peace and happiness. Keep your chin up buddy, no-body is perfect.

    Best Regards.

  • There are things that Sir Arthur C. Clarke, knew that he probably should not have known. He was involved with some high level technology. I am sure that "they" used this form of slander to help to control him. It was probably more of a warning. You have no idea what technologies are possible today. His plea for change in world energy policy might have something to do with this.

    ;)

  • Greg Jock,

You are a sad sad homosexual man. Keep your issues and insecurities to yourself. I have never witnessed so much hate flow from an individual such as yourself. Once you accept that you love the cock (like you do), I think you might find peace with yourself. I am sorry that you were abused by an older man as a child. It was not fair, and it was wrong. Please let go and find peace. Bringing your hate to youtube will not solve anything.

  • Incidentally, your profile says you're a 32 year old Canadian. Therefore you have no excuse for not knowing that the burden of proof is on the accuser. Nobody was ever under any obligation to disprove the allegations.

The police never even found enough evidence to charge him.

Try knowing what you're talking about before you say anything. In your case that would mean a vow of silence, but that's alright.

  • The Sri Lankan police beg to differ. If you have a scrap of evidence they missed, let's hear it.

  • Hey greg, go and read some of Clarke's best of instead of rotting your brain in front of the net. It'll probably come in handy for your vocabulary as well.

  • he came up with the idea for telecommunications in Geostationary orbit... he is the father of modern communications as well as many of the great feats of space travel now...

    moron.

  • Building The*Arc of Humanity, welcome to The Age of Compassion . . .

    (((( Critical*Mass ))))

  • Greatness passed.

  • If it wasn't for speculative sci-fi much of the technology we take for granted today might not be. Many breakthroughs in a great many areas of human knowledge have been inspired by the works of the great authors in the genre.

  • Reading the trash that has been written in these comments, it becomes sorely evident that most of the denizens of youtube are little more than functional, de-evolving apes with a barely minimal understanding of both language and morals. Indeed retards.

Anyone here have actual proof of the allegations thrown at the late Mr. Clarke?

  • The allegations were investigated and found to be completely without merit.

  • Arthur C. Clarke did not create this technology, he inspired it.

He was also not a pedophile. If you believe everything The Sunday Mirror says, I do throughly suggest you start learning, as you, of course, have little regard for anything other then people agreeing with you. What a lovely person you must be. Also, if I come back on and find out the only thing you've said in reply are insults instead of ideas, or proof to back up your claims, then I will hold no value by your judgements.

  • sorry, that was a reply to 'gregjockca19'

  • there's a serious problem inside your head. seek a specialist. and i'm from Hungary.

  • I just read that Rendezvous With Rama has just begun pre-production,( Morgan Freeman) to be released in 2009. This will be out of this world!

  • the only reason we have satellites and we can view this web page is cause of him

  • "The light of other days" is the greatest book i have ever read. Rip Arthur C Clarke

  • I really feel sorry for you. You should probably be pumped in the back by some pedophile jerk, then you could talk about experience.

  • R.I.P. I will never forget you...

  • The next space shuttle should be named after him of course.

  • RIP :(

  • love ya Arthur.

    Don't agree w/globalization though.

  • Such a Wise Man... RIP

  • "I want to be remembered most as a writer. One who entertained readers and hopefully stretched their imaginations as well."

Arthur you did it beautifully. I shall never forget reading "The nine billion names of God" and "Travel by wire" when I was nineteen. Your short stories have given so much to those that have dreamed of a better world and an enlightened humanity. Thank-you.

  • Sleep well and travel far kind sir.

  • thank you for beeing one of my idols! i haven't shed a tear for a long time, but you´ve made that happen with this message! may you rendezvous with your rama! may your childhood ended...and your ultimate trip began! RIP sir...farewell!

  • Rest in peace great man.

  • I'll always remember Arthur C. Clarke like a great visionary and writer. Thank you, Mr. Clarke, for your masterpiece "2001; a space odyssey" and Space Odyssey serie!

    R.I.P
