  • Excellent work guys!

I am preparing a blog post about the old UK TV adverts for Trio biscuits - which riffed on the Freberg version of the song - and was looking for a good versionof it to embed in the post as a comparison to the adverts.

    Your's wins hands down! Brilliant.

If you want to see the finished blog post, it will be up next Wednesday (Sept 16th).

Click my user name for the blog address details or google my username. Cheers and, again, excellent video.

  • BRILLIANT! I love Stan Freberg. Any thought of giving a go at "The Great Pretender"?

  • Aww....:( Where Did It Go?

  • does any won know what name of the song played in the credits

  • Mahna Mahna. Search for that in, say, YouTube, and you'll find many options. I think the one in the credits is version three, from the Muppet Show in 1976.

  • thx man, i luv that song

  • Yes, this is Stan Freberg's version of "The Banana Boat Song." The one you are thinking of is a cartoon called "Calypso Singer" - if anyone has it, I'd just love to see it! It was the entertainment at my third birthday party!

  • is this one i heard 40 years ago on radio one on the Ed stew pot show its the same, what fun.please let me know what was i listing to.

  • You were listening to Stan Freberg's version of the Banana Boat Song.

  • no actually drinkallaround is right. it was aired on Ed Stew Pot Show. this guy just made a puppet version of it. much funnier when you saw the real thing though.

  • That's where it was aired, man. Stan Freberg recorded it. It's too loud man. There is a 1960's animated version, part of which was on Youtube. It's gone now though. Too sad man.

  • Part of this was on You Tube bu has since disappeared? Tragic. Surely somebody out there must have this video. Come on guys! I promised to get this for my kids!!!

  • Anyone have the cartoon of it that appeared on "The Great Space Coaster"? That was one of my favorites as a kid.

  • Fantastic

  • Does nobody have the animated Bugs Bunny/Speedy Gonzalez video of this song? It is terrific and I'd love to see it again.

  • Crazy!

  • Excellent ! loved it , I have the actual song I think is by Stan Freberg

  • Trivia: The Banana Boat Song was written by Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin, while a member of The Tarriers folk-singing group in the 1950s. You can look it up.
